The interface will show up/up only if I set the interface to 100M/Full Duplex when I plug-in the Ethernet Loopback Plug (4 Pairs). I don't see this Gigabit Interface @ 3845 router has any option to set it to internal or external loopback.

Can I install sfp+ If I want to use copper for Uplink at 10 Gbps, I just need to install one SFP-H10GB-CU5M transceiver ???? the other SFP slot is disabled automatically?
in the other side 3750X in order to support copper at 10 Gbps a C3KX-NM-10G network module is considered, this will be connected to SW3750E by means of SFP-H10GB-CU5M.
The second 3750X will be connected to second twinGig Adapter of 3750E using another SFP-H10GB-CU5M transceiver.
Cisco Switching/Routing :: Cat2960 Gigabit Port Not Working?
Mar 12, 2012Brand new 2960. When I plug a cable into the port, nothing happens. The port light doesn't begin negotiation or anything, it just stays dark. The cable works fine--I have it on another switchport with a crossover connector connecting to a little Cisco SOHO switch without problems.
I've done the following:
switchport
switchport mode trunk
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1
no shutdown
In other words, I've fiddled with it. But I don't know why it doesn't light up..

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 4500 24-port Gigabit Module Being Picky
Jan 7, 2013We have recently purchased a Cisco 4506 that has several Gigabit Ethernet modules installed.One of the Ethernet Gigabit modules - a WS-X4424-GB-RJ45 - is being picky with who it talks to at Gigabit Ethernet.
If I plug a laptop into one of it's RJ45 ports using a Cat 6 cable, nothing happens. No link light, no notification of link up or down on port statistics, absolutely nothing.If I plug a server into the same port it works fine at Gigabit Ethernet (even using the same Cat 6 cable).I can get the module to recognize a laptop if I fix the speed/duplex on the laptop to 100Mb/Full. I have tried this with other staff laptops from different vendors (HP / Dell / etc.) all with the same result.
The module directly underneath this module - a WS-X4448-GB-RJ45 - works fine for both laptops and servers. We have tried swapping the module positions but to no avail.

Jan 20, 2013Here's my problem. I'm going to be using Cisco 1941 routers at a bunch of remote sites. All of these sites have 2 comm paths out. Some of them have 2 IP/VHF radios and some have 1 IP/VHF radio and a copper link using Patton ethernet extenders. From the VHF radios the data hit our MPLS network back to our HQ and the sites with copper go directly back to our HQ. Everything ends up at a Cisco 4948 switch. The problem I'm having is that I want the routers at the remote site to use one ethernet port (G0/0) as the primary and the other (G0/1) as the backup interface. I've tried the backup interface command but the problem is that depending on where an outage occurs the ethernet link to either the radio or Patton stays up so it never switches over. We're using OSPF as our routing protocol and I'm sure there's something that can be done with it but I'm not sure what.

Nov 27, 2012I have one cisco 3750G-48 switch, one cisco 3560G-PS switch, Cisco UC520, cisco 2851 and cisco wireless access point.i have setup up intervlan routing between the two cisco switches and the uc520 with a total of four VLANS, the problem i'm having is with the 2851 router, I have created a trunk between the 3750 switch and the 2851 router. should I create subinterfaces on the 2851 router for the four vlans by doing gigabieethernet 0/0.1, 0/0.100 and so on or should I create BVI subinterfaces.
reason I ask is I created four vlans on the vtp server switch which is the 3750 and I connected the uc520 to the 3750 switch via a trunk interface and set up vtp client on the uc520, after I setup p the vtp on the uc520 the vlans were automatically created on the uc520 with each vlan having its own BVI interface.
So I am not sure how to configure the 2851 router to interact with the four vlans. also the 2851 router have two hwic 1adsl wics installed which will have two adsl connections coming in.how to set up the 2851.

Aug 8, 2012I am having a problem with my Realtek RTL8168D/8111D PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. It is not detecting my ethernet cable, and thus leaving me without internet on my desktop, after i updated its driver. The cable is not the problem as I have tested the cable with my laptop. I tried rolling back drivers, doing system restore and removing drivers with driversweeper and letting windows install the drivers again. However, none of these worked for me. I doubt the NIC is faulty as it was working before i updated the drivers. I am using windows 7 home premium 64-bit.

Jan 7, 2011So my old router needed replacement and my dad bought a Netgear gigabit ethernet switch instead of a router. It said that it gets 1Gbps when I look inside the local area connection speed. The problem was we tried to use it like a router but only 2 computers could connect to the internet at one time but it was indeed noticeably faster when it came to video streaming speed. We since returned it and bought a Netgear N600 router that says the speed is 300mbps but like my old router it shows the speed is actually 100mbps and the streaming is good for the most part but every now and then slows down. Would using the ethernet switch with our new router work with streaming speeds and connection stability and of course let more computers connect and also use the routers wireless.

Dec 9, 2012I have a cisco 2851 router as the edge router, I have a 3750G and a 3560G switch and configured intervlan routing with four vlans, also connected to the switches a four servers and one has active directory and a dns server.i am able to ping from all te servers fine from different vlans and the servers are able to ping the edge router. the problem I am having is with DNS, in the edge router i have configured the isp's dns server address in ip name-server and i am able to reach the outside world.
the problem im having is the servers are not able to reach the outside, do i need to do something in the edge router to forward it to the 3750g or do i have to add my isp's dns servers on the 3750g with ip name-server.

For Password and User Reset..... Although by the time I got to selecting a username and password the computer had went to sleep so I started over again. When I restarting this process I ejected the Flash memory told it to reset but failed to reinsert the flash card before it rebooting. Now in the terminal I get symbols instead of words. What can I do ?

On the HQ, I have a Cisco VXR7204 running IOS 12.4.15T(10) Advanced IP Serviceand the remote site is a Cisco 2851 also running IOS 12.4.15T(10) Advanced Ip Service. The HQ has a Riverbed Steelhead 5050H capable of delivering 100MbpsWCCP throughput. The remote site has a Riverbed Steelhead 1050H which can deliver 10Mbps WCCP throughput. At the HQ, the LAN network is 192.168.251.0/24.The Steelhead residing on the 192.168.251.0 network.At the remote site, the LAN network is 192.168.103.0/24 and 192.168.211.0/24.The Riverbed resides on the 192.168.103.0/24 network.
When a host on network 192.168.211.0/24 download a file from network192.168.251.0/24 network via http, the CPU on the Cisco 2851 goes to 99% utilization and that it stays there for the duration of the http session. There is very little traffic goes across the WAN whichis the way it should be but the CPU on the 2851 stays at constant at99% CPU utilization.
Why would WCCP consume so much CPU on the Cisco 2851? By the way, I am only getting about 5Mbps download instead of 90Mbps download, I think because of the high CPU on the router?
Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Gigabit Ethernet Very Slow?
Jul 18, 2011I recently bought the E4200 thinking it would be the latest and greatest, and I wouldnt' have to worry, but after just a simple test of transferring files between my Home Server, and my PC (Both connected over Gigabit ethernet using CAT6 cables, with only the E4200 inbetween).I use to get anywhere from 40 MegaBytes/second to 50MegaBytes/second on my D-Link 655.But now I am lucky to barely get 20 MegaBytes/second. Is there an issue with this router? or am I expecting too much from Linksys?
