I have a 2610 router. How can I tell if the built-in ethernet port is only a 10BASE-T or if it's a 10/100 port? Is there a "Show" command to give me this information or did it only come one way? I have found conflicting information on this :-( If it's only 10BASE-T, can I upgrade it to 10/100?
View 8 RepliesI got a Cisco 2800 router and am planning to use FastEthernet 0/1 to trunk in 802.11Q VLAN's to cater for some of our radio links. speed and operation of the sub-interface that will be created. Or explain it here. We got a radio link that we want to trunk into this Cisco 2800 and it is suppose to be connecting at 100Mbps but currently operating at around 80Mbps. Reports shows that the max in and out traffic for this link this year till today is 25Mbps. Will it not fail teh CPU etc ?

I have a Cisco 1801W router, running a DSL connection with wireless connectivity for a school. This is configured on the fastEthernet0 interface on the 192.168.1.0 network (the router is 192.168.1.1).
I was wondering if it is possible to get the built-in switch (fastEthernet 1-8 interfaces) to be used as a part of the same network (192.168.1.0/24).
Fastethernet0 is connected to the school's main switch (24 port), but we could use a few more ports. I'd love to use the 8 ports on the router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisoc 2610 connected to my network, 1 Ethernet port and a WIC-2T card. I have ther serial connection to the main router and the ethernet going to the switch. I can ping all device throught the network...but the 2610 can't ping any outside address (no internet connection). I have the internet connection going through my 3745 (which the 2610 is connected to via serial cable). I put a default route into the 2610 but still no luck.

I'm working on my CCNA. I purchased an old router 2610 with two ethernet ports. I configured the IP addresses on the interfaces and added the default gateway. I configured NAT to go out my ATT DSL router to the internet. With the 2610, I'm able to ping the back end or internal DSL router, but I can't ping the front end, external router, or out to any internet site such as google.

We are getting link flaps and we suspect that it's a speed issue between the two. However, I cannot find how to set the speed on the old OS of the 3508 switch.

I have gone through some of CSC forums like {URL}. The workaround is to "Remove the X2 or SFP from the inactive up link port" which is not in my case.
Here's my problem. I'm going to be using Cisco 1941 routers at a bunch of remote sites. All of these sites have 2 comm paths out. Some of them have 2 IP/VHF radios and some have 1 IP/VHF radio and a copper link using Patton ethernet extenders. From the VHF radios the data hit our MPLS network back to our HQ and the sites with copper go directly back to our HQ. Everything ends up at a Cisco 4948 switch. The problem I'm having is that I want the routers at the remote site to use one ethernet port (G0/0) as the primary and the other (G0/1) as the backup interface. I've tried the backup interface command but the problem is that depending on where an outage occurs the ethernet link to either the radio or Patton stays up so it never switches over. We're using OSPF as our routing protocol and I'm sure there's something that can be done with it but I'm not sure what.

The computer is maybe 3-4 weeks old now, everything is running fine, until today when I decided I wanted to try streaming some Diablo 3.This is when I discovered my upload speed was absolute garbage.I have verizon FIOS - I pay for 15/5, the download speed is always at 20+ mbps, I have never had any problems with it., but my upload speed is fluctuating between .34-1.5 mbps, changing every second.I know this is a problem with the computer because I brought in my old laptop, unplugged the ethernet from my new desktop, plugged it into the laptop in order to keep all variables the same, and it was getting 25/5 without any hesitation.When I was downloading the drivers for my mobo I installed something called Windows Firewall with Advanced Security(maybe that was with a windows update, im not sure).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an odd situation where I cannot get a device connected to a built in switchport with out input and crc errors. When connecting to a GLC-T sfp it works fine.Here is my test layout
Outdoor wireless AP --- 10' of cat6 cable --- Gigabit POE injector --- 10' Cat6 cable --- 3560G port 48. (input and crc errors)
When I do this there are input and crc errors on the switch port. This has been confirmed on three different switches and three different outdoor AP's. We though at first it was the injector, but when we run the same setup, but instead connect the device to port 49 with a GLC-T sfp there are no errors.

I have upgraded the 3560G to the latest ios and still it has the same problem. If I run the same setup to a 2960 there are no errors at all.

I have also tried manually setting the speed on the 3560G with no success.
I found intermittent link down(20~40 seconds average) occurred about 1~10 times every month. SAP reported a lot of active connections are disconnected and I used a batch to ping and found "requested time out" about 30 seconds.And Windows, SQL server, Nexus 5010 do not show any errors. We run cluster and cluster does not fail over.And I don't know which cables or nics cause this issue. When it happened, almost all servers are unreachable. For example, SQL server 1 -> SQL server 2, IBM HS22-1 -> SQL server 1. However, some connections are not dropped sometimes. It varies each time.PS: I run this topology last year without any problems but it started intermittent link down from 2011/1/7. Because there is no errors in Nexus 5010, it is difficult to troubleshoot. Cisco TAC recommended us to implement virtual port channel yesterday. Could I use "errdisable detect cause" to detect what caused the intermittent link down? Is there any error logs or switch parameters/status can use to troubleshoot?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI built a pc asrock z77 pro3 mobo, i5 3570k 3.4ghz, ati 7950, 8gb kingston ddr3 1600mhz ram, corsair 650w psu, a hyper 212 evo and a 500gb hdd with a 128gb ssd all in a cm haf912 case.My problem is that everything works fine except for the inbuilt gigabit lan port. I'm accessing the net through an old pci-e slot network card i found, and I'd really like to use the inbuilt gigabit port. The realtek drivers do not appear under device manager. I installed the latest network drivers from asrock - (Realtek Lan driver ver:7048 for 64-bit win 7), I tried various things I read online like removing the ram for a few minutes, disabling the NIC and sleep mode. I always get this message when installing the driver: "Realtek ethernet cable was not found if deep sleep mode is enabled plug the cable" I've done everything I've read online and from reformatting to removing the ram.In the bios, i made sure the adapter was enabled. another thing is that there is no light coming from the port when the lan cable is inserted into the port. there is a light from the pci adapter so i'm not sure if it's faulty. I've also checked that the cables are fine. I hooked them up to my macbook and ps3 and the network was fine.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm fairly new to Cisco products am in the process of developing my network knowledge on a deeper level. I have a 3825 with a HWIC-4ESW and I'm struggling to fully understand how the two "see" each other. I've setup a V LAN with a layer 3 address on the HWIC and added the switch ports to it. This seemed to allow devices connected to the switch ports to talk to the built-in router ports. I thought this was all making sense until i applied an access-list to the router port. It's a simple ACL i'm just using for testing and the only thing it does is blocks telnet from anywhere. I know the ACL is setup properly because if I connect a device directly to the router port i cannot telnet to the port. However, if i connect a device to one of the switch ports, i am able to telnet to the router port successfully.
It seems that I'm missing something with how traffic flows from the switch port to the router ports and how the two "see" each other.
I was looking for a way to connect an AUX port from a 1700 router to a 6500 switch module console port, to see the output of the Switch's on the 1700 router, in case there is a network downtime, I could see what's going on in the switch, what cable should I use ? Also, is there is any kind of documentation for this type of config what have I seen is very few info.

The Metro Ethernet connection is currently conected by a L3 routed interface. I now need to enable VRFs between the locations and want to determine the best way to adjust the Mero. I was considering adjusting the routed interface to use Ethernet sub-interfaces. Each VRF would be given a different subinterface over the Metro Ethernet connection. I have done this on internal LAN connections but am concerned about exteding across data centers over Metro E.

I have 10Mbps internet speed connected to ciusco router 1841 that has 2 internal NICs. One NIC has a full 10Mbps download speed and the 2nd NIC is currently limited to 1Mbps download speed. I want to change the download speed of the 2nd NIC to 4Mbps? How do I do this on a cisco 1841 Router?
