Cisco Switching/Routing :: Possible To Connect SF200-48 To 300Series At 1G Speed Over Ethernet
Jan 15, 2013
I have in my office switch Cisco Small business series SG300 with 50 x 1G ethernet ports. Now I wanna enlarge my network. I want to buy Cisco SF200-48 with 2 x combo Gigabit SFP . My question: is it possible to connect SF200-48 to 300Series at 1G speed over ethernet? Can I use ethernet port on combo Gigabit SFP on SF200 like uplink and connect it to any port in 300Series?
I am trying to connect a SF200-48 switch via Mini-GBIC MGBLX1 fibre module to a Cisco 3750 switch with a GLC-SX-MM fibre module installed both running a 1000 Mbps. When connected together they do not enable. Are there compatibility restrictions or is it that the Mini-GBIC modules cannot be used to uplink to a LAN?
I have a SG300-28P and a SF200-24P connected via LAG Group. SG300 routes. I also have 2 VC240 IP Cameras. They are connected on ports 18 and 19 on the SF300. If I lose power, reboot or anything that makes the switches restart, the configuration is not saved. I know this by the fact that after a reboot, ports 18 and 19 are placed in VLAN 4 Untagged. If I put them back in VLAN 2 Untagged, save the configuration and reboot, they are placed back in VLAN 4 Untagged.
I read something on here about firmware the other night from my iPad so today, I upgraded both switches to the latest firmware, 1.2.7.76. After the update, I could not access the IP Cams. I went back into the configuration and they were in VLAN 4 Untagged. I once again put them in VLAN 2 Untagged, saved the configuration and rebooted. They went back to VLAN 4UP.
There was previous discussion also about xml version of files or something and that a factory reset and setting the switch up from scratch would take care of it. I cannot do this, I am a seed corn salesman. Is there a simpler way? Like saving the config to TFTP and then uploading it after factory reset? There is LLDP settings for my IP Phones too that if I lost them, I would have no idea how to regenerate them to make my switch work again. Cisco tech support had issues with it when I first got them and they set it up via remote session so I am lost beyond this. I just know that I cannot keep going into the switches to change settings and not have them saved. I lose my security cameras and video recording.
I have a 2610 router. How can I tell if the built-in ethernet port is only a 10BASE-T or if it's a 10/100 port? Is there a "Show" command to give me this information or did it only come one way? I have found conflicting information on this :-( If it's only 10BASE-T, can I upgrade it to 10/100?
I curently have 2 Data centers connected with a Metro Ethernet Connection. Each Data Center has 6500 with Sup720s. The Metro Ethernet connection is currently conected by a L3 routed interface. I now need to enable VRFs between the locations and want to determine the best way to adjust the Mero. I was considering adjusting the routed interface to use Ethernet sub-interfaces. Each VRF would be given a different subinterface over the Metro Ethernet connection. I have done this on internal LAN connections but am concerned about exteding across data centers over Metro E.
It is understood that sub-50 ms ERPS convergence can be achieved with certain HW/SW combinations.
1) What are the platforms supported (and with what FW/SW) has this been tested ?any results that can be shared?
2) Link failure detection in GigE on Copper is slower compared to GigE over "pure" Fibre; so no sub-50ms would be possible with Copper ring ports.is sub-50ms convergence achievable with "combo SFP ports" ?
Upgrading a NX 7K. A scp copy of SO image from a server to NX7K bootflash is very very slow. It took more than an hour to copy 30% of n7000-s1-dk9-npe.5.2.7.bin
Is the fan speed configurable in n5k and n7k? my customer's n5k temperature already over 50 centigrade, but the fan still 50% speed, may i config them work in full speed?
We have a 2801 rotuer in place that hooks up to a metro ethernet link that's obviously dropped off to us via ethernet. Anyway, the throughput granted to us is 20MB, but for some reason I can't get it to go anything above 11MB at the most. I've spent a day going through documentation trying to find the fastest speed the 2801 supports and I can't find my answer. I've seen that the high speed wan cards in this router support up to 45MB, but I'm not using a WAN card, only one of the two built in 10/100 ports.
Looking to deploy N7K-F248XP-25s in N7K-C7009s, because the cost and value are really good, however I have some 100Mbps copper connections I'll likely be stuck with for a while. So... can I plug a GLC-T into a N7K-F248XP-25 and set the speed at 100Mbps?
I currently have a C3750G connected to a C3560G with default auto-negotiation settings. Ports are up and connected a-100 and a-full. I am trying to change the ports speed to 1G, and have tried all possible combinations of "speed 1000" and "duplex full" setting on both ends to no avail. What should port settings be for 1G speed between the two switches?
Here are the current port settings:C3750G: interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1 switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
I have 5x Cisco 2960 and 1x Cisco 2960G. All of them are using IOS Version c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin I'm having poor inbound speed with ALL of the Cisco 2960 (except 2960G) although the outbound speed is normal. The port is 100Mbps Full-Duplex, but the max inbound speed on a single connection is around 35Mbps. With the 2960G, I can get max 1Gbps inbound speed on a single connection.
I checked everything and still not know why the 2960 switches can't get max 100Mbps inbound.
I have connected a 2 TP trunk between 6509 and nx 7000, as shown above. I am trying to have speed 1000 on both sides. If I set speed 1000 on 6509 Trunk disconnect. How to force speed 1000? [code]
I am facing port speed issue on WS-C2960G-48TC-L series switch. This switch gig0/X ports connected to onother switches (Cisco and HP both switches are also gigbit ports and directly connected ).but interface is giving only 100mb/s output.ios on WS-C2960G-48TC-L is 12.2(44)SE6
I have had trouble to verify the support wireless speed and band that CISCO891W-AGN-A-K9 supports. I saw on a vendor website that it supports a max wireless transmission speed of 54Mbps but this seems low for what is supposed to be the current model wireless router which is supports 802.11n. What the maximum supported wireless speed and whether 5Ghz is supported? Plus I am thinking about purchasing it for my home wireless network (upgrading from an 871W).
3750G-12S-S.Problem description:I had a WS-3750G-12S-S in production with a defective fan tray and needed to change it.I faced to trouble with inter g1/0/1 on the new switch( it worked fine on the old).
I got a 6509 version 12.1(22)E2 that I am replacing with a 4510E version 3.40SG with Supervisor Engine 7-E. The 6509 is configured with 20 channel-group for dual fiver connection to ten 3550 switches with trunking enabled with isl encapsulation. The 6509 is the VTP server to each of the 3550 switch clients. There are 40 Microsoft Servers attached ot the Gig RJ45 port modules.
I have attached the 4510 to the 6509 with dual fiber connection configured as a channel group with trunking enabled. I am configuring the 4510 the same as the 6509 except I have to use trunking with dot1q encapsulation because isl is not supported on the 4510. I no longer want to use VTP with the 4510 and have set the it as transparent mode. Each of the 3550 switches are changed from isl trunking encapsulation to dot1q and VTP mode is changed to transparent when they are moved from the 6509 to the 4510.
I want to move the switches over a few at a time and not all at once. The first 4 switches attached with no problems and ran with no problems for the user access to the servers still on the 6509 for a week. Then I found out DHCP was not working for the devices attached to the switches on the 4510. I moved one of our domain controllers form the 6509 to the 4510 to fix the DHVP problem. I have now added 2 more switches with users that use an application on a server still on the 6509 and they are getting disconnect errors after logging into it and using it. Other applications on different server also on the 6509 are having no problems. I moved the switches back to the 6509 to get the users up during business hours. I now plan on moving the server for the application that was failing to the 4510 in hopes that it will fix the problem.
Is there something I can do to speed up the connection between the 6509 and the 4510 so I can continue this transition without having to move the servers to the 4510 as I move the users?
We have an old 3508XL switch. We are trying to connect a new 2960 to it but we purchased the incorrect SFP insert and that speed can only do 100mb. We are getting link flaps and we suspect that it's a speed issue between the two. However, I cannot find how to set the speed on the old OS of the 3508 switch.
Below is a show version of the 3508 switch.

I am troubleshooting some speed issues that I might be having and using TTCP and iperf/jperf. I am testing the LAN speed between our local router and local desktop.
When I run TTCP transmit on the Cisco and receive on the local desktop I get speeds right around 90Mbps, which I would expect because the switch between the Cisco router and the desktop is only 10/100.
When I run TTCP receive on the Cisco and transmit from the same desktop I only get speeds of about 24Mbps to the router.
The router is a 2911 wiht gigabit ports. The switch between the 2 devices is only a 10/100 switch, so I expect to only get around 90Mbps but 24 seems very low.
There is some way to increase the speed of changing the interface state from DOWN to UP when the cable is connected. I need to configure a port of Cisco 4503 in a way that when a cable is connected the port goes immediatly UP.
A solution can be to keep Cisco interface always UP and I remember that with "no keepalive" command to the interface configuration it was possible. But I tried and nothing happens.
I am having a heck of a time finding information on this. I have a 2620xm router that only has one Ethernet port on it. Is there an expansion I can get that allows me another Ethernet port. I have thus far assumed that all of the WIC cards won't allow me to attach to an Ethernet LAN.
I'm using 3640 router running on c3640-js-mz.124-25d.bin IOS. I'm using NM-1A-OC3SML= (ATM OC3, long reach single mode) interface card. Now my pc is connected an fast ethernet interface of the router. Need to know the ATM configuration on this cisco 3640 router in order to achieve the ATM over ethernet traffic get success. As of now i've confugred as below but it's not working it seems.
interface ATM2/0 bandwidth 120000 ip address 10.2.2.1 255.255.255.0 no atm ilmi-keepalive pvc 0/36 protocol ip 10.2.2.10 broadcast cbr 70000 encapsulation aal5mux ip
let me know the correct encapsulation type for the connectivity.
I own a Cisco 892W router. The router has 2 WAN ports and 8 switch ports. Now I know -
-WAN ports can create sub interfaces, assigne IPs, cannot be assigned to a VLAN - sounds very much like a routing port. (sh interface gives - Hardware is PQII_PRO_UEC)
-Switch ports are for VLAN assignment, trunking, IP assigment etc,. (sh interface gives Hardware is Fast Ethernet)
I know they are different but at the same time confuced what the difference are? I also know on some 3xxx series switchs you could say "no switchport" and translate a switch port to a layer 3 port. But on 892W you can't do this? Struggeling to understand the difference.
i was able to configure (via SF200 web interface) a port mapping from port FE17 to FE7.i have supressed this port mapping.
when i try to reconfigure a port mapping from port FE17 to FE3. The SF200 web interface crash. the SF200 seems to reboot.
i have updated the SF200 firmware from V1.1.2.0 to V1.1.2.9.44.when i was able to configure (via SF200 web interface) a port mapping from port FE17 to FE7.But after having suppressed this port mapping again, i was not able to reconfigure a new port mapping from port FE1 to FE3 (the SF200 hangs).
I want to make an offer for a public tender for SF200 Switches (P/Ns SLM224GT and SLM248GT). The end user is already using Cat 6 cables and someone from the committee told that these Switches does not support Cat 6 cables and that the SLM224GT doesn't work correctly with an existing SG200 (SLM2008T) switch.
Our client having one c3750 with ipbase license switch. They are connected server and end switches to that switch. Our customer want to increase the speed to accessing the server at that time I am told to use etherchannel.Customer happy about this and implement the etherchannel configuration. Now i need to configure etherchannel upto 4 physical link.server are connected on port no Ge1/0/10,they want to bind four phical link GE1/0/10-13.how to configure etherchannel in this switch?
The WS-X68xx series line card has a fabric of 40Gbps and a 16 Port 10GE has a 4:1 oversubscription rate. The WS-X6908-10G has a fabric speed of 80Gbps and has a 1:1 oversubscription rate.
If I mixed the 68xx and 69xx series line card, do I get 80Gbps for the 6900x and 40gbps for the 68xx line card? Or would the 69xx series line card be downgraded to 40Gbps?
From my understanding, the 68xx series has a DFC card and thus the fabric speed operates independently.
I have working internet behind cisco 2811 on all vlans however upload speed is very slow and ftp server download is slow and times out, previously when directly connected to modem/router was fine? This is router config below:
Current configuration : 2229 bytes ! ! Last configuration change at 02:21:18 UTC Tue Mar 12 2013 version 15.1 service timestamps debug datetime msec service timestamps log datetime msec
I got a Cisco 2800 router and am planning to use FastEthernet 0/1 to trunk in 802.11Q VLAN's to cater for some of our radio links. speed and operation of the sub-interface that will be created. Or explain it here. We got a radio link that we want to trunk into this Cisco 2800 and it is suppose to be connecting at 100Mbps but currently operating at around 80Mbps. Reports shows that the max in and out traffic for this link this year till today is 25Mbps. Will it not fail teh CPU etc ?
I put a QoS in a WS-C3560CG-8TC-S version 12.2(55)EX2. in our lab file upload or download speed much reduced and drop the packets with QoS everyting is fine without QoS
Here is the config: My question is why I speed reduced a lot and packets to be dropped with QoS.everything is fine WITHOUT QoS.
