I am having a heck of a time finding information on this. I have a 2620xm router that only has one Ethernet port on it. Is there an expansion I can get that allows me another Ethernet port. I have thus far assumed that all of the WIC cards won't allow me to attach to an Ethernet LAN.

I am trying to configure it but unable to do this. ADSL line is okay because When I am connecting through the ISP router it is working fine. I have connected the ADSL RJ45 cable in the router fast ethernet 0.But I wanted to use Cisco 1801 Router so that I can use the ADSL as primary and ISDN as the backup.
Below is my configuration, eiteher this is possible to configure ADSL through RJ45 in 1801 and what configuration require for this.

I have 4 cisco 2960 switches to which many users are connected. No vlans are the only default vlan 1 is there. Now I want to make ether channel on switch 1 whcih has 24 fast etherenet ports. Can I make port 1- 8 as one ether channel which are connected to users or i can only make ethere channel of ports that are connectd to other switchs. If I can, how the other switchs will comnicate with the switch ports bundalled in the ether channel in switch 1.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI currently have 2 PCs that are directly connected to each other via a 1Gbs Cat6 connection.I don't currently have a 1Gbs router so what I am doing right now is unhooking this connection and reconnecting both machines to my router when I need internet access. I have ordered some USB Wi-Fi adapters so I can have both machines access the internet that way whilst still use FTP between them on the 1Gbs line.If I were to scrap that idea and get a 1Gbs hub, connect both PCs straight into that, and then also connect the hub to my 100mbits router, would the 2 computers be able to communicate with each other at 1Gbs and then talk to the router at 100mbits, or would the whole network run at 100mbits.I don't really want to have to shell out on a 1Gbs router as I don't need anything else on the network to run at that speed.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got LACP-enabled port-channels between a Cisco 3750 stack and a few different switches (some Cisco 3750s and some Juniper EX2200s). The Ciscos are all sending slow LACP updates, the Junipers are sending fast LACP updates (but the Cisco they connect with is responding with slow LACP updates).
I have a couple of questions:
1) what are the pros and cons of slow vs fast updates? my research has led me to the conclusion that fast updates are better for network resiliency as long as you have plenty of bandwidth overhead (which I do at the moment). is there anything to add to this conclusion?
2) is there any way to configure the Cisco 3750s for fast updates?
I have 2 new 3750g devices in a small environment. switch1 acts as our collapsed core and has ip routing enabled, and is connected to a ASA 5510. There are 3 HP l2 switches connected to switch1 as well. switch2 is simply a server switch. switch1 and switch2 have a 2port etherchannel between them, and a vlan trunk carrying 4 vlan's. traffic between any 2 hosts on switch2 (same vlan) are slow. (average 300Mbits/sec) If I move one of those hosts to switch1, speeds increase by 3 times. (average 900 Mbits/sec). Additionally, traffic between any 2 hosts on switch1 are quick. testing is done with iperf as well as timing 1gig file transfers.
I don't see any errors or drops anywhere, and there are no other symptoms other than slow transfer beteween hosts on switch2. I just got 2 more of these 3750's to put in a 2nd site that we have, put a quick configuration on them, and have the same result. Other than switch1 having ip routing enabled, the configs are pretty much identical.
I have a cisco 1841 whose LAN interface is showing status as "Fastethernet 0/1 is up , line protocol is down" the duplex and speed settings in the Router are in Auto mode and the Router was working fine till now , when i changed the duplex settings to duplex full , speed 100 the ping replies comes back with 5-6 replies then the link dies again..

2 networks:
F0/0: 192.168.x.x
F0/1: 10.1.x.x
No communication between them except one way multicast from F0/1 to F0/0.
how is the IP configuration for this Fast Ethernet F0.
This is because usually we only assign IP to the BVI interface. Is it after that, the Fast Ethernet F0 automatically also be assigned the same IP?
As such, when goto the Fast Ethernet F0 by CLI, by using no shut then this will Enable the Fast Ethernet Port?
I had a question regarding the Cisco 2811. I tried fitting an NM 2FE-2W card and the fast Ethernet interfaces of the module never get recognized. Is there a special command to enable it or isn't the module supported at all by the router. If not , is there a way to have the router possess more than the 2 Fast Ethernet interfaces it already has? Let me know if any more info is needed from my end.
Another question I have out of curiosity. Is it possible to make the controller T1 port of a VWIC 1MFT-T1 or a VWIC 2MFT-T1 act as a fast Ethernet.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIt is a single router with dual ISPs. It is a 2800 and there is failover configured. I have implemented object tracking and the feature works great except that lately, whenever there is a lot of traffic coming perhaps from the internal users, we start getting intermittent outages.
I have gone deep into looking into this problem and have determined that our ISP#1 does not have any problems. What I think is happening is that whenever the router receives a lot of packets (30-40 users on the internal network) destined to the outside, the router CPU maybe gets too busy and the router then believes that the objects are no longer reachable and it triggers a failover which causes the router to re-direct traffic to the ISP#2. Then, because these are just quick burst of traffic, in the next 30 to 45 seconds after the router re-directed the traffic to ISP#2, the router object tracking engine detects that the objects are now again reachable and this then causes the router to re-direct all traffic back to ISP#1.
This cycle then continues all day on how to prevent this.
Is there a way to perhaps tell the router to completely shut down the interface facing ISP#1 whenever there is a hicup and to keep it shutdown for at least 8 hours? This way I can prevent the router from going crazy.
Or is there a way to perhaps prevent this at the internal (LAN) interface? Are there some metrics like QoS that I can implement on the internal Fast Ethernet Interface to prevent the burst of traffic from eating up the CPU?
I am troubleshooting interface resets on a 3660 connected to a 3550 over Fast Ethernet. I have hard coded both sides for full duplex and 100Mbit. The 3660 is incrementing interface resetes about 4-6 times a day and the 3550 is clean. I have noticed this in other similar configurations as well.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI pulled a brand new Cisco 3850 Switch out of the box yesterday. Following the Quick Start Guide, I put in the power module, powered it on, and waited for it to complete POST. Then, I plugged in an Ethernet cable between a laptop and the switch on a port in the front, and went to the web interface at https://10.0.0.1. I got to the Express Setup, and attempted to change the IP address of the switch to an IP on my LAN, along with other options. When clicking submit, it didn't appear to take. Upon refreshing in the Express Setup, the IP config was blank, so I once again configured it. This time clicking submit brought up a message that it was changing the IP address. I waited for it to finish, and when it looked done, I powered the switch off and took it to a different room to hook it up to the LAN for further configuration.
When plugging in the power at that point, the switch starts through the normal light process (System LED blinks green slowly), and then eventually the System LED blinks green very fast and never stops. It doesn't get to the point of having the system loaded and ready to log into. There's no amber lights, just the System LED flashing green fast. On the back, the Power module and all bay lights are green, and the Console light is green, but the Management port light is off.
I've tried using the reset button on the back of the switch two different times to reset it to default configuration, thinking I hosed it somehow, but it never goes past the fast blinking System LED.
Trying to set-up a p2p link between a L2 fast ethenet module (within a 2900) to a 6506.Have created a subinterface SVI on the 2900 and put the fast ethernet port in the respective VLAN. However on 6506, am I correct in thinking I can do a no switchport and just create a L3 interface? Do I need to put the 6506 in the same vlan and the fast ethernet module and create a L3 SVI on it? As it's not a trunk port between the 6506 and the fastethernet module, the packets won't be tagged?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm watching a video streamed from my laptop and the signal is constantly being dropped. I suspect the D-Link DES-105. I have another Ethernet switch on the system as well but it is a Gigabit unmanaged switch from D-Link and has worked well with video streams. I've removed the DES 105 from the circuit and videos play fine. Should I dump to DES-105 for another Gigabit switch? SOme say I have a bad cable somewhere but I have tested all and have not found a problem.

Would the fast ethernet devices slow down the entire gigabit networking to 100mbps connections on my floor - similar to how a wireless n network running at 300mpbs must slow down to 54mbps when a wireless g device is connected to it?

The Metro Ethernet connection is currently conected by a L3 routed interface. I now need to enable VRFs between the locations and want to determine the best way to adjust the Mero. I was considering adjusting the routed interface to use Ethernet sub-interfaces. Each VRF would be given a different subinterface over the Metro Ethernet connection. I have done this on internal LAN connections but am concerned about exteding across data centers over Metro E.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Belkin F7D4301 Router has the fastest wireless speed of maybe 2MBps but wired with a cat5e cable to my asus laptop of almost 7MBps. I have a one smart TV, one blue ray, one roku, and a nexus 7 using the 2.4 channel.
My Wireless 2.4 settings are channel 11, Extension channel 7, Wireless mode N (have tried with just g and b, g, and n modes), Bandwidth 20/40, Protected mode on, QOS off.
I've talked to Belkin tech support, they are the ones who had me set up my 2.4 channel this way but my wireless speeds stay just under 2MBps, they just want to keep sending me the same model Router because they think each of the new ones they send me is defective.
Am I doing something wrong or is 2MBps the best wireless speed I'm going to get?
I can start a console connection with my 2620xm, but the only output I get from the terminal software (Putty and Tera Term) is the character " ÿ " at all times even through bootup. For every boot up, I get an additional " ÿ ".I have Baud 9600, 8 bit, no parity, stop 2 bits, no flow.Is there something I am missing?

My problem it that i have two 2620xm routers with one fast ethernet and two wic 1t. So on the first router i have my cable modem plugged into fa0/0 then se0/0 goes to router2 which connects to a 3548 switch with my host and servers. On roter1 i have set nat inside and outside and set fa0/0 to fetch dhcp i have also setup dns server with name host pointing to my ISP's DNS server. router one works fine i can ping google.com with no problems router2 can not ping google but it does get a dns address eventhough it can not ping the dns server it get's a dns response from router1.
