Cisco :: Cable Internet Through Two 2620xm Routers?
Feb 8, 2013
I have been playing around with my home lab trying to get internet services through out my network. My problem it that i have two 2620xm routers with one fast ethernet and two wic 1t. So on the first router i have my cable modem plugged into fa0/0 then se0/0 goes to router2 which connects to a 3548 switch with my host and servers. On roter1 i have set nat inside and outside and set fa0/0 to fetch dhcp i have also setup dns server with name host pointing to my ISP's DNS server. router one works fine i can ping google.com with no problems router2 can not ping google but it does get a dns address eventhough it can not ping the dns server it get's a dns response from router1.
I can start a console connection with my 2620xm, but the only output I get from the terminal software (Putty and Tera Term) is the character " ÿ " at all times even through bootup. For every boot up, I get an additional " ÿ ".I have Baud 9600, 8 bit, no parity, stop 2 bits, no flow.Is there something I am missing?
I have a 2620XM router with a 16NM Layer 2 switching module installed,My question is once I get all my VLANs set up on the 16 port switch that I want. Do I need to connect a cable to the fast ethernet port on the router with its subinterfaces setup for routering across the vlans that I choose or can I connect them in the CLI?
I am having a heck of a time finding information on this. I have a 2620xm router that only has one Ethernet port on it. Is there an expansion I can get that allows me another Ethernet port. I have thus far assumed that all of the WIC cards won't allow me to attach to an Ethernet LAN.
I have a Cisco 2620XM Router, running ver. 12.2 (7r). I have OSPF connected, however the OSPF routes are not populating in the sh ip route display. The neighbor relationship is established. The sh ip ospf database does display the other routers running ospf, however only connected (C) and static (S) routes appear.
I've got a Cisco DPC3825 modem that I also use as a wifi router. Conntected to it I have 4 eithernet cables:
1. From PC to Router
2. From another PC to router
3. From TV to router
4. From a Dlink Powerline Adapter to Router. It took me a while to figure this out but when I unplug all the eithernet cables and plug back in #1 and #2 (from above) the internet works. When I plug back in #3 and #4, the internet dies. Meaning, I am connected to the network but not the internet. I've reset the modem, changed SSID and restarted the PC many times but still can't figure out this issue.
Is there a difference in an ethernet cable and an Ethernet networking cable? I have an Ethernet cable and a 6 port splitter I am trying to connect. I have 4 ports in the router that are in use. When I connect them to the splitter nothing s working.
I want to connect to the Internet small office where docsis (internet over tv cable) is used as WAN.For similar tasks but other WANs (adsl, dial-up) I used 800 series. But now I can't find anything in this series to solve my issue. There is 815 but it has no wi-fi.
I can use cable modem that my ISP gave to me: this modem acts as bridge so I can use router with FE-based WAN but it is better to have one device instead of two.
I have a Sony Vaio running Windows 7 Home Premium. Yesterday I accessed the Internet at the office over a Cat5 cable. Last night I accessed the Internet at home via my USB Internet dongle (actually an O2 mobile phone). Today neither works. I have also tried to connect to the Internet via Wireless and that does not work either.Needless to say my desktop (using the same Cat5 cable) works. My mobile phone can access the Internet on it own. And others can get the wireless to work.My Vaio can connect to all three; however, all three say "No Internet access".I changed nothing between last night and this morning. I have scanned through the list of Windows Updates and nothing has been downloaded in the past week. I have turned off my firewalls (in both McAfee and Symantec Endpoint Protection). I have run the three NETSH reset commands with Administrator privileges. I have rebooted my machine numerous times. Nothing works.
Regarding to the connection RV110W to any Cisco router, should I use a crossover cable accordingly? Because, I heard that the crossover function is done inside of some switches and routers. So, I would like to know whthether the function is included into RV110W.
After i reinstall my PC, i can't connect my vaio (VGN-TX750P) to internet through internet cable nothing appears in Control PanelNetwork and InternetNetwork Connections wifi is working fine but I can't connect using ethernet
i have a cable modem and i want to connect 2 diferent wireless router .when i connected i dont have internet trought LAN ports just wireless and i need have internet in those LAN ports.
My network currently consists of one cable modem, and one linksys router.i was given a Belkin N router as a gift, and instead of returning it for a different brand ive decided to keep it. i would like to essentially use a splitter or switch in between my current router and modem. This is the plan. Keep modem and linksys router in the den, use a splitter or switch to split the signal from the modem to each router. Use a 50+ foot ethernet cord running from the splitter or switch through the attic and into another room.
Is there any good description how to configure Linksys RV016 for two WANs (cable+DSL)? It looks like switching between those two connections not splitting what is set for WAN1 and what is set for WAN2. I set load balancing as- WAN1 (cable) all HTTP up/donw should go there- WAN2 (DSL) GTalk, IMs, SMTP, POP3, IMAP up/down should go therebut looks like is not working that way. When I will go to speedtest.net and test a connection I always get less amount then connected directly through cable : Also when people try to use any session or IP sensitive web site it doesn't let them to log in because session was expired (based on IP) or IP was changed.
Having some issues getting a site to site VPN connected between two RV042. Any experience getting this to work behind a Motorola SBG9000.Will I be able to get this working? Or will I have to organise a cable modem through my ISP instead
I am wondering what the cable wires or sockets on the back of this router are for? could it be you can connect through the cable tv network the sockets fit perfectly in the back of the router thats a strange coinsidence dont you think?
I have cable in my home and bought a wireless router. The router has a connection for a phone connecter, but not a cable. What can I do to get my WIFI up and running??
One of our office´s PC is connected to the network and shows 2 networks, but we have only one modem and one router....and no internet access only in that computer. I had restarted, disconnected, shut down and nothing.....what can I do? I also connected it to another cable form other computer working correctly and didn´t work.
I have a WRT54g v2.2 and want to flash the firmware . When I log intothe routers ip address ,I get a google search listing all sites that talk about the ip address , Not the routers web page to make adjustments. How do I get into the routers page to update firmware ?
I have a situation where i am looking at using 3 WAG320N routers.
I have a house that is 50sq in size. I am looking to setup one WAG320N in the study with the ADSL connection and setup wireless.
Can i then hardwire a second WAG320N in the back bedroom and set it up with the same Wireless network so they can move seamlessly through the house? I will of course disable DHCP, but can it act in repeater mode?
I will then have a wire from the 2nd router to a wireless P2P link to a shed located 200 meters away, with a 3rd Router in the shed that i can have hard wired ports as well as wireless?
We recently moved to a new office and currently have three ISPs(DSL, SAT, 4G) because we are unable to get Cable nor Fiber services. We have anywhere between 7-20 Remote Desktop connections(with lot of file transfers) and 8 VOIP lines. Basically, we need to bind certain services to specific WAN links in order to make everything work somewhat decent because of the limited bandwidth and/or latency of each ISP.
I would like to double check if the bindings are working for the specific services, and it has been difficult to verify if the settings in the RV016 are working. I believe it's not working 100%, and I need a way to check and make sure that my settings are being followed.
What would be the best way to check the current connections to see if the service is being routed via the WAN link specified in my setting? My RV016 is HW ver 3, but not the latest firmware. Purchased about 2 months ago.
I am able to ping from pc to Router1. I am able to ping 4.2.2.2 and google from Router1 but unable to ping it from Router 2 and pc.
Here is my config for Router1:
Current configuration : 1089 bytes ! version 12.4 service timestamps debug datetime msec service timestamps log datetime msec no service password-encryption
Same problem ' network cable unplugged' even if it is physically connected. I have sony vaio pczim series with win 2000 xp home edition with a broadband (cpe adsl2+ type) connection. While everything working fine for past two years, suddenly after a thunderstorm night, I noticed the network connection failure with the message. I checked the router, cable and the same are working fine with other hp laptop. Even the vaio is running with the same router while usb port is used and even the wireless and bluetooth are fine, but network with ethernet cable connection does not.
my modem is working, I have two computers on the router plus my wireless is working.I connected my cable that was going from the modem to the router directly to the computer and it still says "network cable unplugged"sis 900 based PCI fast internet?
I am somewhat of a neophyte at networking and I have a question. I have a small business network using a secure wireless router connected to my cable modem. We have a DVR security system which we would like to monitor remotely. I would like to keep the DVR separate from my secure wireless router for security reasons. My thought is to connect the DVR through a cable or wired modem into my cable modem. Do you folks think this will cause an issue with the wireless router which uses DHCP to determine the IP address?
