Cisco Routers :: RV042 Site VPN Behind Cable Modem
Oct 23, 2012
Having some issues getting a site to site VPN connected between two RV042. Any experience getting this to work behind a Motorola SBG9000.Will I be able to get this working? Or will I have to organise a cable modem through my ISP instead
Is there a way to set up a Site-to-site VPN between RV042 & Cisco 2911? I "googled" this and obtained a document, but it is not regarding Cisco 2911: [URL]
Routers are needed to setup it successfully. I have tried on both routers several configuration steps, no success...
I have no problem configuring both devices to successfully connect when the juniper firewall isn't in the picture. But due to policy; the RV042 at our main site must sit behind the firewall.
I've got the port forwarding setup but I'm not able to connect. I know I"m missing some configuration on the RV042 but I can't think of it! I've attached a GIF to give an example of both setups.
I recently bought two RV042s to create a site to site VPN for a client. I have several of these setups installed at other locations but this is the first version 3 hardware I've used.It seems like the dynamic IP functionality of the VPN setup may not be working correctly. I've verified all settings on each router match and have deleted/recreated the setup several times just to make sure. Here's the logs from the router with a static IP.
Nov 29 06:49:51 2012 VPN Log (g2gips0): deleting connection Nov 29 06:49:51 2012 VPN Log added connection description (g2gips0) Nov 29 06:49:51 2012 VPN Log listening for IKE messages Nov 29 06:49:51 2012 VPN Log forgetting secrets Nov 29 06:49:51 2012 VPN Log loading secrets from '/etc/ipsec.d/ipsec.secrets' Nov 29 06:49:51 2012 VPN Log (g2gips0): cannot initiate connection without knowing peer IP address Nov 29 06:49:51 2012 VPN Log (g2gips0): cannot initiate connection without knowing peer IP address
I've tried both dynamic IP + email and dynamic IP + FQDN to authenticate the router using the dynamic IP and both give the same error as above.I did a firmware update hoping to fix PPPoE which seemed to be broken with a Netopia modem in bridge mode so both routers are on the latest firmware, v4.2.1.02.
I have an RV042 connected to another RV042 via site-to-site VPN. The tunnel has been solid for months, but when I did an actual read/write test between PCs at either endpoint, the speeds were quite slow.
Endpoint A has a line speed of 25/5. Endpoint B has a line speed of 50/7-ish.
Read/write test from A to B was about ~3 write and ~7 read. Does this sound normal for these routers? I was hoping for better performance than that.
I have 16 customers using RV042 router all 11 have the RV042 router different ISP's. After eleminating every thing else we were down to the routers. Two of the customers we built linux boxes to do the routing and firewalling and VPN, etc. Once in place the problems went away. Which confirmed it was the RV042 router causing the problem.
We watched the traffic and after about 2 hrs the router tells both ends to reset. End of communication.
My question is how do we stop the router from terminiating the connections. They are not bandwith hogs. They are nessessary connect connections.
So here is my issue. I have two sites, each with a Linksys RV042 on thier site.
Site 1: External: 142.142.142.142 Internal: 192.168.25.0/24
Site 2: External: 143.143.143.143 Internal: 192.168.26.0/24
We have setup a site-to-site VPN between these sites, and all traffic is running back and forth without isse.
At Site 1 we have configured the Client VPN for use with the QuickVPN software. Again, for site 1, this is not an issue. We are able to access all internal resources at Site 1 without issue (expect for some DNS related problems).
The problem that we have is attempting to access Site 2 resources via the QuickVPN connection at Site 1. Even though they are not suppose to exist, we are able to ping 192.168.26.1-6 (which are ghost addresses likely created by the RV042's) but no actual systems on at Site 2.
I have added the Client VPN connection at Site 2, but it has the same problem accessing resources at Site 1.
i've just purchased cisco rv042. i want to connect to my ISP using modem (bridged). i tried to config pppoE on the router with my isp acount and connecting it to the modem. the issue is my router doesnt get any ip from the modem(aztech tnn 600e).
* the dhcp on the modem is working properly. i checked by connecting a computer to it, the ip was assigned. and another test i did, i connected the rv042 on "assign ip automatically and it got ip from the modem (worked well when the modem is bridged ot bridged).
I'm trying to establish a site to site VPN using ipsec between an RV220W in the UK and an RV042 in Italy to no avail. The RV042 tells me it's "waiting for a connection" and it gives 0.0.0.0 as the remote address (i'm using Dynamic addressing at both ends). I can ping the remote address with a response. The basic parameters I'm using is 3DES with SHA1, but the RV042 offers an option for Perfect Forward Secrecy which the RV220W does not (I've tried toggling this) and the RV220W offers and Extended Authentication mode which I can't see on the RV042.
I configured every thing in both site, there is a connection between my sites BUT I can't access my resources from Site B with it has RV042. It also shows that it connected to my ASA in Site A but there is no traffic between sites !!! I don't know what should I do now ?
I am trying to set up a Site to Site between two RV042 with static IP at both routers.at the log at site 1 i get: packet from XX.XXX.XX.167:5: initial Main Mode message received on 10.2.32.1:500 but no connection has been authorized with policy=PSK.At site 2 i get: packet from xxx.xxx.xxx.146:500: initial Main Mode message received on 192.168.1.1:500 but no connection has been authorized with policy=PSK.I have tuned off the firewall and added a Port forwarding to the router ip and port 500.Tried with different autentication methods, but get the same message.
My problem is VPN Site2Site between Cisco and Linksys routers: after a troubles vpn tunnel now seems up but no data is passed accross tunnel. This is configuration of Linksys RV042 (Firmware Version: 1.3.12.6-tm, seems last for this hardware [code]
i have a cable modem and i want to connect 2 diferent wireless router .when i connected i dont have internet trought LAN ports just wireless and i need have internet in those LAN ports.
My network currently consists of one cable modem, and one linksys router.i was given a Belkin N router as a gift, and instead of returning it for a different brand ive decided to keep it. i would like to essentially use a splitter or switch in between my current router and modem. This is the plan. Keep modem and linksys router in the den, use a splitter or switch to split the signal from the modem to each router. Use a 50+ foot ethernet cord running from the splitter or switch through the attic and into another room.
I am able to ping from pc to Router1. I am able to ping 4.2.2.2 and google from Router1 but unable to ping it from Router 2 and pc.
Here is my config for Router1:
Current configuration : 1089 bytes ! version 12.4 service timestamps debug datetime msec service timestamps log datetime msec no service password-encryption
I am trying to connect a Netgear wirless router to my cable modem. I have followed the instructions on the set up wizard but it fails to get a connection with the IP and DNS info I provide.I got the IP address info by connecting intially direct from the modem to the PC and then went to Run CMD and type ipconfig /all. I then started the set up wizard and followed the instructions, turning things on in specific order etc. After input the IP and DNS info it reports an error and tells me to check the address information is correct. My internet is a static IP connection (so it tells me and the IP information doesn't change).
how do i create 2 networks using 1 cable modem and 1 router and i would like to add a firewall thinking of using xywall usg20 for the firewall..... the issue is i have a small business with 1 point of sale and1 back office computer.(network1) and i would also like to use an air port wifi to offer wifi to my cleints on a seperate network(network2) not allowing access to network1 and i want a firewall on network 1 to protect the back office and pos system
I have linksys router connected to my cable modem. I want to change it Belkin AC900. How can I keep the linksys connected until I have tested set up for Belkin AC900 router.
My Comcast cable modem does not have a 2nd port needed to connect my Belkin AC1200 wireless router. Is there another way to configure this or are my options to either buy a new cable modem or try to upgrade it through Comcast?
Is it possible to have a site-to-site IPSEC tunnel between 2 identical RV110W routers?I basically want one of them to initiate a secure tunnel with the second so that computers from one router subnet see the computers from the other router subnet.
the RV110W IPSEC site-to-site tunnel, are there necessary 2 x public IPs for it to work, or only 1 public IP is enough? [code]If it works with 1 public ip, the "CLIENT" RV110W configuration should be straightforward (in Advanced VPN SetupRemote Endpoint i fill in the dyndns address?), but how do i setup "HOST" RV110W?
I have an RVS4000 V1 router connected to a Comcast Extreme 100 mbps cable modem. The port setting for the port (number 4) is 1000Mbps Full Duplex, auto Negotiate.why the RVS4000 is throttling the port?
Region : UnitedStates Model : TL-WR841ND Hardware Version : V8 Firmware Version : ISP : optimum online I have two wireless routers: TP Link TL-WR841ND and TP Link TL-WR541G
I would like to:
use the TL-WR541G for my children wireless laptop, wireless ipad and wireless iphones. I can turn this unit off at a specific time each evening as I wish.
The WR841ND is used for my wireless laptop, wired iMac, wired Roku stream player and wired Voip adapter.
I tried a few things but really do not know what I am doing and I cannot get both wireless routers to access the internet.
What I tried so far:
Cable modem ethernet out to the input on the WR841ND router. took one of the four hardwire outputs from the WR841ND and ran into the input on the WR541G I powered on the cable modem....it booted... i then powered each router up and waited for each to boot. I launched web browser and navigated to : http://192.168.0.1/ this allowed me to setup the WR841ND router.
it's current settings: Firmware Version: 3.13.27 Build 121101 Rel.38183n Hardware Version: WR841N v8 00000000 WAN type: dynamic IP LAN IP address: 192.168.0.1 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 DHCP Server: enabled Start IP: 192.168.0.100 End IP: 192.168.0.199
How do I set up the second router? I tried to disable the DHCP server on router 2 (WR541g) and change the IP but don't know what to change it to.
My computer is not wireless so I have needed a wireless router from Time Warner. Directions tell me to connect to my computer. Will that solve the fact that my computer is not built in wireless?
We recently purchased an SRP527W router because of its capability to configure site-site VPN tunnels. The configuration of IKE and IPSEC is working and the tunnel comes up but the problem is that the router is passing our internal IP addresses through the tunnel. The remote end we are connecting to requires us to hide all traffic behind one IP address which would ideally be our external static IP address from our ISP.
As you can see i have problems with connecting 2 SRP521W together for an VPN tunnel. I tried as much as I can but now i dont know what to do or how and where is the mistake? the connection between these two devices was there last week, after weekend (nothing changed in configs) the connection suddenly was interrupted, without any reason or warning. another day it worked again and 20 mins later connection was dead again...and now it wont establish at all.. here are some screenshots from the vpnconfigs of my devices. one has a static IP the otherone uses FQDN. These are the IKE policies: Here the IPsec Policies: and the GRE policies:
I have an ASA5505 running which is on a static IP. I have just got an SRP527W for a remote worker and want to create a site-to-site VPN into the ASA. I have a number of other router of non-cisco brand which just all dial-in and connect no problem.
On other routers I have been abloe to specify the DDNS hostname in the VPN setup so that the ASA can identify it. I'm not sure how I setup the SRP527 to connect to the ASA.
i'm trying to create a VPN IPSEC link between 2 offices. The VPN link is created, and i can communicate but only one way. Clients in Office B seems to have routing problem.
Can I use a single Public IP address for both Internet access and site to site vpn access? If not, can I configure the RV220W as a bridge and still use it via another gateway configured for vpn passthrough as a VPN appliance/server on the LAN?
