May 22, 2011Same problem ' network cable unplugged' even if it is physically connected. I have sony vaio pczim series with win 2000 xp home edition with a broadband (cpe adsl2+ type) connection. While everything working fine for past two years, suddenly after a thunderstorm night, I noticed the network connection failure with the message. I checked the router, cable and the same are working fine with other hp laptop. Even the vaio is running with the same router while usb port is used and even the wireless and bluetooth are fine, but network with ethernet cable connection does not.

We have a DVR security system which we would like to monitor remotely. I would like to keep the DVR separate from my secure wireless router for security reasons. My thought is to connect the DVR through a cable or wired modem into my cable modem. Do you folks think this will cause an issue with the wireless router which uses DHCP to determine the IP address?

This is from a recently installed Valet M10 updating an old Linksys router. The Linksys reported the three DNS servers octets independent of the router's ip and other default settings.JK

When the error shows up I can ping the server no problem. The error sometimes goes away and comes back randomly.

Feb 5, 2011I'm having big problems with my Linksys WAG320N. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to networking.Without changing any of the settings, the other day my Macbook Pro couldn't connect and it kept saying 'Connection timeout'. From that point my iPhone also refused to connect, although accessing the internet on my MBP via Ethernet was fine.
I did a hard reset following instructions from this forum then re-configured with the installation CD. The wireless LED on the router was lit but my MBP couldn't see the network. Eventually I managed to connect after rebooting my laptop, and enjoyed all of 10 minutes of problem-free of wireless internet connectivity before the network just dropped out and now doesn't show up in my list of networks again, although the wireless LED is still on. Connecting via Ethernet still works, just not via wireless.I've rebooted my laptop and the router and tried switching channels on the router, all to no avail.

Feb 7, 2011I am trying to connect a Netgear wirless router to my cable modem. I have followed the instructions on the set up wizard but it fails to get a connection with the IP and DNS info I provide.I got the IP address info by connecting intially direct from the modem to the PC and then went to Run CMD and type ipconfig /all. I then started the set up wizard and followed the instructions, turning things on in specific order etc. After input the IP and DNS info it reports an error and tells me to check the address information is correct.My internet is a static IP connection (so it tells me and the IP information doesn't change).

Oct 25, 2012I've got a Cisco DPC3825 modem that I also use as a wifi router. Conntected to it I have 4 eithernet cables:
1. From PC to Router
2. From another PC to router
3. From TV to router
4. From a Dlink Powerline Adapter to Router.It took me a while to figure this out but when I unplug all the eithernet cables and plug back in #1 and #2 (from above) the internet works. When I plug back in #3 and #4, the internet dies. Meaning, I am connected to the network but not the internet. I've reset the modem, changed SSID and restarted the PC many times but still can't figure out this issue.

Oct 30, 2012We currently have the XG1 through XG4 ports on our SG500X switch setup in a LAG with the Cisco 10G-FiberOptics. Everything is working fine,however in the web UI under Port Management->Port Settings the "Port Speed" is listed as Unknown. All other ports report the speed correctly. We have 2 SG500X switches configured this way and both are reporting the same Uknown speed.
