I am wondering what the cable wires or sockets on the back of this router are for? could it be you can connect through the cable tv network the sockets fit perfectly in the back of the router thats a strange coinsidence dont you think?

I have sony vaio pczim series with win 2000 xp home edition with a broadband (cpe adsl2+ type) connection. While everything working fine for past two years, suddenly after a thunderstorm night, I noticed the network connection failure with the message. I checked the router, cable and the same are working fine with other hp laptop. Even the vaio is running with the same router while usb port is used and even the wireless and bluetooth are fine, but network with ethernet cable connection does not.

We have a DVR security system which we would like to monitor remotely. I would like to keep the DVR separate from my secure wireless router for security reasons. My thought is to connect the DVR through a cable or wired modem into my cable modem. Do you folks think this will cause an issue with the wireless router which uses DHCP to determine the IP address?

I have a TP Link Wifi card installed in my pc.. i need to access the server using an ip through the ethernet cable. And i access the internet via the wifi device installed and running in my pc. the problem now here is that i cannot access both of the simultaneously. If i connect back the ethernet cable the browser does not browse or the internet does not work.. and i can access my server software.. as i unplug the ethernet cable my wifi card installed starts working all good and i can use the internet.. i have tried a little of soultions but have not been successfull enough to use both the connections simultaneously..

I have followed the instructions on the set up wizard but it fails to get a connection with the IP and DNS info I provide.I got the IP address info by connecting intially direct from the modem to the PC and then went to Run CMD and type ipconfig /all. I then started the set up wizard and followed the instructions, turning things on in specific order etc. After input the IP and DNS info it reports an error and tells me to check the address information is correct.My internet is a static IP connection (so it tells me and the IP information doesn't change).

1. From PC to Router
2. From another PC to router
3. From TV to router
4. From a Dlink Powerline Adapter to Router.It took me a while to figure this out but when I unplug all the eithernet cables and plug back in #1 and #2 (from above) the internet works. When I plug back in #3 and #4, the internet dies. Meaning, I am connected to the network but not the internet. View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do i connect two internet routers to one IP address range?I currently have one broadband router connected on 172.16.0.3 subnet 255.255.0.0, I have a second line which is a copper ethernet EFM 2Mb line connected using a Cisco 1800 router configured on 172.16.0.254 subnet 255.255.255.0, no DHCP is configured on either router. the dhcp is provided by a windows 2003 server on our LAN which is also configured on the same LAN IP range. if i connect the Cisco router into the same switch as the broadband router my network devices stop working and dont respond.
If i check the broadband router it shows all the connections to it as having the same MAC address as the Cisco router?? if i disconnect the Cisco router everything returns back to normal and works perfectly.What I want to achieve is to be able to run both routers on the same LAN to provide internet access by configuring the pc's to route through a specific router. the DHCP I want to stay routed through my original broadband line. at the same time i want all pc's to access to the lan devices (ie. servers and printers) what the correct configuration would be for the two internet routers would be?
