D-Link DIR-601 :: Connect With Ethernet Cable But Not Wireless
Nov 27, 2012I have just replaced a wbr-1310 with a dir-601. I can connect with an Ethernet cable, but not wireless. I have comcast cable with a Motorola surfboard modem. I was able to connect with the wbr-1310 with this setup.

I have two wireless routers:
TP Link TL-WR841ND
and
TP Link TL-WR541G
I would like to:
use the TL-WR541G for my children wireless laptop, wireless ipad and wireless iphones.
I can turn this unit off at a specific time each evening as I wish.
The WR841ND is used for my wireless laptop, wired iMac, wired Roku stream player and wired Voip adapter.
I tried a few things but really do not know what I am doing and I cannot get both wireless routers to access the internet.
What I tried so far:
Cable modem ethernet out to the input on the WR841ND router. took one of the four hardwire outputs from the WR841ND and ran into the input on the WR541G I powered on the cable modem....it booted... i then powered each router up and waited for each to boot. I launched web browser and navigated to : http://192.168.0.1/ this allowed me to setup the WR841ND router.
it's current settings:

How do I set up the second router? I tried to disable the DHCP server on router 2 (WR541g) and change the IP but don't know what to change it to.

Keep modem and linksys router in the den, use a splitter or switch to split the signal from the modem to each router. Use a 50+ foot ethernet cord running from the splitter or switch through the attic and into another room.

Routers are connected to each other via LAN ports with a switch in between.Both routers have the same wireless SSID with the same password. I am able to connect wirelessly to both routers no problem.
I have a machine running a shared iTunes library which has a wired connection to router1. I also have an Apple TV wired to router2. My issue is if I am connected wirelessly to router2 I may or may not be able to connect to iTunes library. Conversely, if I am connected wirelessly to router1 I may or may not be able to play content from iTunes to Apple TV. I cannot figure out why everything works fine sometimes yet at other times I cannot connect devices between the two routers.

I was wondering if it is possible to connect two routers through wireless and make them talk to each other. Here is why I need it, I currently Have 6 wireless IP Cameras going too 8. 2 are wired on one router in my house and the other 4 are wireless(with wired capabilities) Im going to wire the other 4 too a 2nd router so the cameras are always running and don't suffer any down time due to signal loss (happening a lot at the moment). How can I get Router B to talk to Router A, so I can look at all of the cameras from Laptop in my house which is closer to Router A.
My Router A is TL-WR1043ND, I'm also going to probably buy another one. How to configure it properly. So I can login to the cameras from my laptop.
D-Link DIR-615 :: Notebooks Won't Connect After Changed To Cable
Apr 4, 2011Laptop, Desktop with USB stick, and 2 notebooks all were working fine on wireless prior to switching from phone line, to high speed cable connection at router. Have tried reset, unplug power, reinstalled router and everything else I could think of but none of them will connect. Shows a good strong signal from router but will not connect. Re-entered numbers, password etc as well in all other computers. What else to try other than a new router? Could it be coincidence that router decided to quit, around same time as changeover? Cable connections good and main computer connected via cable works ok, just all wireless not working.
Can't log in to d-link either. wrong password,? Type in admin, but won't log on without password and I tried but won't accept . Hitting reset and then retry didn't work either?

my current set up is this:

I am able to ping from pc to Router1. I am able to ping 4.2.2.2 and google from Router1 but unable to ping it from Router 2 and pc.

Feb 8, 2012my dir-655 rev. A2 router won't connect to the new modem that Charter sent me. I had the scientific Atlanta model dpc2100r2 modem but Charter called and said that they have upgraded my speed for free from 18/2 to 30/4 and that I needed a new docsis 3.0 compatable modem in order to take full advantage of the speed upgrade. I received the modem and connected an activated it according to their instructions. The modem works fine when connected to the PC only but as soon as I connected to the dir 655 the link light went out on the modem and I lost my internet connection. The first step I took was to clone the mac address in Wan section of router. It still did not work. The next step was to turn the modem off, the router off and shutdown the PC. I waited until this morning to reconnect everything. I started the PC, then I started the modem and waited for it to stabilize and finally I restarted the router. I still had no connection. The status page of the router said that the cable was disconnected and that network was disconnected. There was no info to release so I clicked the renew button but nothing happened.

Unfortunately, I have a phone point at each end of the house, so the modem/router has always been at one end, leaving the other with patchy coverage.
Is there an easy way to do this? I know products exist that are dedicated for this job, but I would like to use the ports on the second modem to link my BD and IPtv. In the future I am looking to run some wired cabling through the walls, but this will not be happening for several months, so I would like to get this happening in the meantime.

I have followed the instructions on the set up wizard but it fails to get a connection with the IP and DNS info I provide.I got the IP address info by connecting intially direct from the modem to the PC and then went to Run CMD and type ipconfig /all. I then started the set up wizard and followed the instructions, turning things on in specific order etc. After input the IP and DNS info it reports an error and tells me to check the address information is correct.My internet is a static IP connection (so it tells me and the IP information doesn't change).

Now I am trying to connect these two routers through a cat5 cross-over cable and I wanted to know whether can I disable DHCP on the router which has internet, and enable the DHCP of the router which is connected to the printers, because I have a few systems that shouldn't be connected to the internet.
What I had in mind is if I switch the DHCP OFF on the internet router and turn it ON on the Huawei B683 router, I could add those devices' MAC addresses to the internet gateway router to deny them access to the internet..?
D-Link DIR-655 :: Motorola SB6141 Link Speed LED On Cable Modem Never Glows Blue
Feb 26, 2013when I connect my DIR-655 to the Motorola SB6141 cable modem I notice that the link speed LED on the cable modem never glows blue indicating a gigabit connection, it only glows amber indicating a lower negotiated speed. I am using a Cat6 cable between the two devices and have also tried a Cat5e cable.
When I try and force the WAN port speed to 1000Mpbs in the router interface the cable modem link speed will not light at all with no connectivity. Only resetting to Auto WAN port speed restores functionality albeit at the lower negotiated speed setting.
I'm running the DIR-655 rev B1 at 2.03NA firmware level.
I did connect the modem directly to my PC that uses an Intel Gigabit ethernet card and still had the lower connection indication (Amber) so it seems that the modem might be faulty.

Here's the equipment I'm working with:
DLink DIR 615 wireless router
DLink DIR 515 wireless router
Motorola Surfboard cable modem S85101U
I plugged the DLink 615 in, set it up for DHCP client and plugged it into the cable modem. I lef the default 192.168.0.1 IP address for the device. On that router, I also reserved the 192.168.0.199 IP address and assigned it to the DLink 515.I also gave the DLink 515 device the IP 192.168.1.1 so I could administer it.I set the DLink 515 to static IP and made the IP 192.168.0.199 and the default gateway 192.168.0.1.I plugged the DLink 515 into one of the LAN ports in the DLink 615.I set a schedule on the DLink 615 to shut down internet access to the DLink 515 at a certain hour and turn it back on at another time.Everything seems to work ok, but at least once a day we have to unplug and plug the routers to reset them.

so i have a sb6141 cable modem that is mine and not a lease. it works like a champ when hard wired to my desktop. i just got my hands on a new shiny tp-link wdr4300 yesterday and after messing with it for the better part of 2 hours, something seems to be amiss with the communication between the two. everything will be humming along fine and all of a sudden i get the dreaded PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED. sure as the world i look at the modem and all the lights are off and its resetting itself. and honestly this continues until i pull the power and plug it back up. i think maybe one time in the middle of the night i actually saw it reset itself and then come back online.

Apr 26, 2011I got a modem installed and was planning on using ethernet cables for my desktop as well as laptop. The laptop works fine (as I'm using it). The desktop on the other had a wireless adapter installed. I tried using the cable with the desktop and it would'nt pick up the connection. I took the wireless adapter out of the desktop and still nothing. I tried creating a new connection but it would only allow me to make a dial up connection. Not sure what to do.

Oct 21, 2011My aunt called me about her laptop not being able to connect to her wireless anymore. It was working fine until last week and since then, she can't get on. She has a netbook that can connect to the wireless and a desktop that's plugged in from the wireless router. When she tries to connect to the wireless, it says it's connected but shows no internet access in the Network Sharing Center.
I tried plugging it in directly from the router and I get the same message. I've made sure to enable the wireless and have even uninstalled and reinstalled the latest driver for the card. It's an Acer laptop with the network adapters Atheros AR5B95 Wireless adapter and Atheros AR8152/8158 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller.
I have even brought her laptop to my house and tried to connect via wireless and a direct cable, but I get the same issue.
