I have just replaced a wbr-1310 with a dir-601. I can connect with an Ethernet cable, but not wireless. I have comcast cable with a Motorola surfboard modem. I was able to connect with the wbr-1310 with this setup.

When I set auto-detect IP on router, it says that I have Static IP. In CMD I can find out all the information about the connection and the licence is usually for one day (automatically renewing). I've also tried to clone MAC address, nothing happened.
I have a Netgear wireless router and just set up my wireless network.The only problem is that when I remove the ethernet cable, I lose connection to the internet.My operating system is Vista.In the network connection icon, it shows that I am connected to an unidentified network.Also, on the globe icon it shows that I am connected to the network by local access only. Furthermore, I seem to be missing tabs under the wireless network connection properties section, such as advanced and sharing. I seem to be sending packets but not receiving any.I tried all the basics at this point, including rebooting and powering the modem and router down.

View 5 Replies View Related I've had this modem set up for over 6 months and this just happened out of the blue. I had no connection to the internet, and the lights on LAN 1 and 3 were lit (only LAN 1 is in use.) I think I went about this the wrong way because now the LAN lights won't light up at all, and the internet light is always yellow. I know it's not the ISP because well I'm writing this post with my modem plugged directly into the PC.
When I try to reinstall the router using the CD I get an error message stating that the Ethernet cable probably isn't plugged in, although it is, as I followed each step exactly.
Now when I try to plug in the PC to the router I can't access the router webpage, and device manager is showing an Ethernet controller with a yellow exclamation mark under other devices. I don't even know where to start.

FW: I resetted the modem in an attempt to get this working again, so I imagine it's at the default now. Besides I can't access the router page anyways.

I'm able to see other computers connected to the network, share printers and have access to shared files but have no internet access. I know that the problem is not the cable or socket because my old XP computer connects to the internet just fine.
I had a similar problem back at home but I just restarted the modem and was able to connect.

A few days ago my mother's computer suffered a burned out motherboard ethernet adapter due to the PPPoE box on the roof of our building getting hit during a thunderstorm (apparently). I decided to buy a separate ethernet card, as her computer had a PCI slot free at the time - why not use it? I ended up buying a cheapo D-Link DFE-520TX. Anyway, I took it home, booted up the computer (running Windows XP with SP2 I believe) and installed the drivers supplied with the card. The instructions clearly stated to install drivers first, then physically install the card. I did so - everything went smoothly, popped the card in, booted the computer up again. Card was found, no problems. Except when I plugged the network cable in, the card remained idle. No blinking green activity light, no reaction from the Local Area Connection on the computer, nothing. Device Manager/Properties tells me everything is working just fine - except that the card itself doesn't "work". Took it back to the store, they plugged it into their test machine - everything worked just fine, green light blinking, internet access, etc. I've since tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device, swapping PCI slots (the second one is taken up by a Sound Blaster Pro). No dice - the audio card works in either slot, the network card doesn't work anywhere.

I believe there is a box the size of a power box in the back room for the Internet.All my other devices (MAC, iPod, Blueray Player) are able to recieve instant and unbelieveable internet connection except for my Dell. EDIT: I think i may have deleted the ethernet driver to reset my drivers but i have no idea how to get the ethernet driver back. Oh yes when I tried the ipconfig in CMD, under Ethernet adapter local area connection i get media diconnected and not much else for that.
So saturday, my friend and i build my computer. Everything worked just fine that day. Sunday i had no problem connecting to the internet. Sunday is also the day i set up a password for my admin account.
Now when i came back from work monday, i tried to log in to my computer. As it appears, i forgot my password... (same i use on everything, so i must have messed up inputting my pass)
So i did a windows reset, since i had no CD or USB to reset my pass. I tried installing windows, and it appears 'this copy of windows is not genuine'. I thought, okay, no prob, as long as i have all options.
Have a Verizon mifi jertpack and direct tv. want to connect direct tv to internet for "on demand" service.

I used my laptop to test the cable out and it works fine, the wireless works fine too. There doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the modem since I still have Internet on the PS3. I used a different cable to test the modem again with my laptop and I had internet access. The desktop is still connected to the modem but it only gives me a network connection with no Internet.
I tried restarting the modem but it still wouldnt work and I also tried to disable then enable the connection.
Im using Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller with the latest driver.
