View 1 RepliesI'm thinking about buying a WAG54GP2 router. However, my ISP provides a modem which has uses RJ-45 lan cable. Is it possible to configure WAG54GP2 to use one of the lan ports as WAN? Is it possbile to change the mac address of that port?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am signed up for an IPTV service. my service provider set up their own hardware including a reciever and a wireless modem. but their wireless modem has weak signal and i cannot connect to it using my computer in the other room. so i wanted to set up my WAG54GP2 modem to use with IPTV service. but i couldn't. i have followed the instructions described there:
[URL] (support page for some other IPTV provider, i guess)
so, i have checked the configuration details of the other modem which is provided by the IPTV company and found out that encapsulation mode is selected as "DHCP" instead of "Bridge mode only". But my linksys modem does not have an option named "DHCP". so, does it mean that it is impossible to use IPTV with my WAG54GP2 modem?
I bought a WRT54GP2 independently of my ISP/VOIP provider so I could have an all-in-one router. As my provider would not provision the VOIP side I disabled provisioning and set up the voice settings myself and it works perfectly.I was reviewing the VOICE settings side and under the SYSTEM tab there were settings for Administrator Password and User Password. Researching on the Net it seems these should be set to strong passwords which I did but then found trouble moving from the main part of the router configuration to the VOICE tab as I would get a message about a non-admin account not being able to administer the voice side. Via clearing the cache on my browser and restarting the router/browser I managed to get back into the VOICE config tab and immediately removed those two passwords. Seeing the settings under the SYSTEM tab it looked to me that the router was open on the WAN side on port 1880 so I disabled the web server and web server admin options thinking these were only related to the WAN side not the LAN side.
I now find out that I can no longer access the VOICE tab as the router immediately disconnects from the browser.I've tried contacting my ISP/VOIP provider but they seem to be unable to assist and have had no luck with Linksys support either as all they want to do is pass it back to my ISP/VOIP provider saying they are the one to reconfigure it but I'm the person who did the config (and also shot myself in the foot incidentally). If I could only reset the voice side of the router back to factory defaults I would be fine but, unlike the WAG310G, there is no option to do this, just the option to reset the WAN/LAN/Wireless side to factory defaults. I've tried pressing the reset button for 30s and reset via the menu option but neither reset the voice side. Surely there must be some way to do this even if it involves opening the box up and connecting a jumper or something.
I'm currently researching in buying a new modem/router that must have the PPPoA support for the ISP, i'm wondering if the X3000 is compatible with the DD-WRT firmware? or in this case any other firmware that has a top notch QoS, We have a troll in the house that downloads too many torrents and would like to limit his bandwidth .

View 1 Replies View RelatedToday i brought Linksys X3000 and that came with old firmware version (1.0.01). i need new version (1.0.03) Annex A firmware but support page not working.
Support Page is not working: [URL]
The downloadable PDF manual for the WAG160N shows the remote management address as "https://...", while the online support article shows WAG320N screenshots and uses "http://...". The downloadable manuals for the WAG120N & WAG320N don't show either (it's a pretty flimsy manual).point me to, a definitive list of model/firmware combos which do support SSL for remote management?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a situation where i am looking at using 3 WAG320N routers.
I have a house that is 50sq in size. I am looking to setup one WAG320N in the study with the ADSL connection and setup wireless.
Can i then hardwire a second WAG320N in the back bedroom and set it up with the same Wireless network so they can move seamlessly through the house? I will of course disable DHCP, but can it act in repeater mode?
I will then have a wire from the 2nd router to a wireless P2P link to a shed located 200 meters away, with a 3rd Router in the shed that i can have hard wired ports as well as wireless?
I was using Linksys ADSL router ( WAG120) as modem router. Recently I bought new Linksys x3000 and installed a modem router in place of WAG120. Now i would like to connect the both routers to get the signals in first floor of my house.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there any good description how to configure Linksys RV016 for two WANs (cable+DSL)? It looks like switching between those two connections not splitting what is set for WAN1 and what is set for WAN2. I set load balancing as- WAN1 (cable) all HTTP up/donw should go there- WAN2 (DSL) GTalk, IMs, SMTP, POP3, IMAP up/down should go therebut looks like is not working that way. When I will go to speedtest.net and test a connection I always get less amount then connected directly through cable : Also when people try to use any session or IP sensitive web site it doesn't let them to log in because session was expired (based on IP) or IP was changed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOur family has about three computers that use a wireless network that we all share. We have an old Gateway, a WCG200, that is bridged to an E2000, which was set-up ever since we required better security when someone used our connection to illegally obtain movies. We got a letter which warned us of any future violations that could cause legal action, so we looked into our wireless connection to better secure it from any other individuals outside of our household. The WCG200 is connected to the outlet in the wall via cable, and then connects from the Ethernet to the E2000. The E2000 has a stronger security setup than the WCG200, which is the advice we received from our ISP and would allow us to keep the Gateway. It provides a strong signal, but from time to time, we suffer latency or slow loading through all of our online devices, even though our connection speed displays a solid 72.0 Mbps. I've tried the Event Viewer to see any problems, and I have noticed some small things:
- WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped.Wirel?
- WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped. Module Path: C:WindowsSystem32cmihvsrv64.dll
- The server {E10F6C3A-F1AE-4ADC-AA9D-2FE65525666E} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
- Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet: The network link is down. Check to make sure the network cable is properly connected. [This last one is strange, since I use the Wireless Network Connection with a DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card, while the Broadcom adapter is under the Local Area Connection and displayed as not connected.]
Other than that, I'm not quite sure what the recurring problem comes from. Our WCG200 has a firewall enabled and our E2000 has an SPI firewall enabled. The security mode of the E2000 is a WPA2 setup. We have disabled the wireless network of our WCG200 in order to make use of the E2000.
I have a WAG160N wireless gateway . Yesterday when i tried to power it on after a couple of seconds the power led was solid green and the Ethernet leds were blinking with no Ethernet cable attached to the router . The ethernet leds would keep blinking for minutes . I tried to use a screwdriver to do a hardware reset ( with power on ) and i noticed that the power led would start blinking green/red for minutes . I tried to use another wired router which i have for backup and it could connect to the internet normally without a problem.
What the green / red blinking power led means ( power led is green and then changes to red and then it starts over ) ?
I inherited a BEFCMU10 v.3 cable modem from my boss who switched to FiOS and I would like to use this with my Comcast connection. All I received from him is the cable modem and power adapter, what do I need to install and get this cable modem working? My router is WRT-54G.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't get a new IP from my ISP when my Cable modem router(EPC3925) is set to router mode, i have tried factory restore, unplugged etc..but still no luck. It changes each time i reset it when i set it to bridged only mode but then i won't be able to connect other devices to it since it doesn't uses DHCP in bridged only mode. It changes back to the IP i had when i set it to router mode. I don't want to change my router settings to bridged only because it would disconnect the other devices in my house. Why my ISP assigns the same IP address when it's set to router mode but assigns different IPs when it's set to bridged only, how is this possible ?
