I have a linksys 3200 router and i am wondering what all External USB HDD work with it. I have a WD 1 TB but it doesn't seem to work with it. I know that with the latest Firmware the router supports drives upto 3 TB so i know my capacity is not the issue but rather it seems that the drive itself just isn't recognized at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI noted that my router (Linksys3200) has delays or lag on the average of 5 to 10 seconds apart, but random, while playing on line games. While continuously monitoring delays (ping) with a program called Ping Plotter, it ranges from 25ms to 65ms. When not gaming, just surfing the net, the ping is zero and once in a great while a 5ms or 6ms spike may occur.
Am I looking at a malfunction in the router or the computer? or Is this normal?
I'm trying to setup remote access for my linksys 3200 so that I can configure it through the WAN port. I have turned on remote access, however when I try to connect I get a 404 error. The settings I have are:
When I try to access xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9999 I just get a 404 error. I have allowed RDP access to a computer behind the router and this works fine on the same IP address. what else I have to do to allow remote management access?
UPDATE: I tried changing the port to 80 and it works. Change it back to any other number and it doesn't work. Modem is setup with a DMZ to the router's IP. Why does it only work on port 80? BTW I can't use port 80 because there is a website hosted behind the router.
I purchased the linksys 3200 dual band router recently. I am a huge cisco and linksys supporter so for me this is disappointing. Aside from being slower at times than my previous router I am having issues with the 5Ghz wireless. My issue I am facing is it seems multiple times throughout the day the router somehow drops its 5ghz wireless ssid or its gone..not sure. The only way I can get it back up and running is to reconnect with the Cisco Connect software and re-establish the settings and then reconnect any wireless devices. This seems to happen sporadically and is insanely annoying considering this router should be a big upgrade.
It seems to me the 2.4Ghz band seems to be more stable. I am on the latest firmware for the device and I am using a 5ghz compatible wireless device to connect to it.

I thought I read that N is downward compatible with B and G cards, but then I saw some kind of network adapter that is put in the USB and wondered if I'd have to do that with the laptop. 1. login into RV220W admin web
2. Create a VLAN, id 201
3. Go to "Multiple VLAN subnets", select the VLAN, click edit
4. Enter following info:
IP Address: 172.16.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
DHCP Mode: DHCP Server
Domain Name: Cisco
Starting IP Address: 172.16.2.100
Ending IP Address: 172.16.10.254
Primary DNS Server: 172.16.0.1
Leave rest of settings with default value.
DNS proxy is enabled
5. Press Save button. The UI shows text "IP Address Range -".
Expected result: RV220W shall save the setting and make use of 172.16.0.0 subnet in IP pool. By the way, the error message "IP Address Range -" seems incompleteI tried same setting on netgear FVS318N (very similar settings to RV220W), it accepts 172.16.0.0/16 as DHCP IP pool and works.RV220W has great feature set meets my needs. Its UI is slow and sometime dashboard freezes, which I can live with comparing to features. But DHCP server IP pool can't be class B is huge limitation to me.
Router: F7D8301 v1 (firmware is up to date)I recently plugged a 2tb external hdd into one of the usb ports of the router. I have the video mover box checked and when it is, I can see the LaCie hard drive under network locations drive z in My Computer (Windows 7). I can open it and explore it, and see the media on the drive. But when I use one of the DLNA devices in my house (Vizio smart tv, Roku, and PS3) the only drive that shows up is the router's root file "Play N600 HD Dual video oot" not the LaCie drive or any of the contents. Is there any way to share the contents of the USB drive with these devices?

I bought WD 3TB network storage and plugged it to my Netgear router, i am able to access my files wirelessly from WD without any problems. However, i can't access WD if i am connected to Airlive.... well i can but it takes time to appear in my finder and when i tried to install quick view for WD it can't find WD in the network if i am connected to Airlive but it dose appear as soon as i am connected to Netgear.

I just bought a factory refurbished E1200. The label on the bottom says it is a Version 2 model. When I purchased it, it was loaded with 2.0.02 firmware but I upgraded the firmware to 2.0.04.My problem is that I'm trying to setup MAC address-based restrictions thru the manual/web-based setup and when I click on the "Access Restrictions" tab, I only have simple "Parental Controls" and not the advanced "Internet Access Policy".Is it possible that I have a mislabeled V1 device? If that is the case, how is it that I was able to upgrade the firmware using firmware from the V2 downloads section.
Do V! and V2 units use the same firmware but more importantly, how do I upgrade the built-in software so that I have the advanced "Internet Access Policy" controls?
I saw it's possible to use an USB drive/stick with the builtin FTP server to allow file access.Would it also be possbile to have the router function as webserver for external access from USB ? I do not have a "storage" tab in my setup screen. I have Setup, Security, Wireless, etc. According to its manual there must be a Storage tab between security and wireless. Mine doesn't have it. USB drive is connected and I see "mywag320n" on the network but I can't access it because it requires login and password (which I guess I must set up from Storage tab )

I am moving abroad for an extended amount of time, though, so I would also like to connect to this USB drive using FTP. Using the new Cisco Connect Cloud interface, I have enabled FTP sharing for the USB storage device with port 21 and using standard UTF-8 encoding. The E4200 does not detect my hard drive, nor is there a bar saying "detecting".
My problem started when I could not create any new folders through finder. I had to store new files in the root folder. Every time I entered the admin password, I got a message saying I did not have sufficient permission to perform such a task. I then went on to create a new user within the admin group and continued getting the same message. Finally, I formatted the drive directly through my computer and reconnected. And now my HDD is not detected at all.
I have an iMac running OS X Lion. The HDD is question has been formatted to Mac OS extended (journaled).
I have an e4200v2 with latest firmware. I have changed the administrator password from "admin" to a password of my own.I have recently added a USB hard drive to the router, and it says that admin password to access the share drive is the same as the admin password as the router, but it is not. The password to acces the USB drive is "admin" and there is nowhere to change this password to something secure.

if you log on to 99.225.89.229:8080 it will ask you for user id and pass word to log into my router.
if you try to log on to 99.225.89.229:21 it wont even connect asking you for a user id and password.
my guess is the router is not allowing port 21 to be accessed, but I'm not sure.

I have TV set box connected to modem router supplied by ISP provider. To the same router I connected EA 4500 to which I wired connected Network Hard Disc at which I store music, photos and films, which I can not access via TV set box. If I connect Hard Disc direct to the modem router to which set box is connected, access works fine.
