I was wondering if I can force catalyst 2960 to skip startup config stored in NVRAM and boot with no config everytime it is powered. I tried to find it on google and in cisco white papers but still no luck. I found only commands that begin with "set boot config-register ... ", but switch acts like it does not know these commands.
View 7 RepliesI am going to creat VLANs very 1st time therefore for test purpose I have following simple scnerio.I have created 2 VLANs , VLAN2 and VLAN3 on Cisco Catalyst 2960 series switch. Ports 1-12 is assigned to VLAN2 and Ports 13-24 are assiged to VLAN3. Now I have configured DHCP on Microsoft Server 2003 defining 2 scopes with following configurations.
Scope 1 for VLAN 2--- Range is 172.16.0.17 to 172.16.0.30 with subnet mask=255.255.255.240 . Server IP address 172.16.0.17
( Note: Address 172.16.0.17 is excluded from dhcp server Scope 1 and give to the MS server itself)
Scope 2 for VLAN 3----Range is 172.16.0.33 to 172.16.0.46 with subnet mask=255.255.255.240 .
Now in Cisco 2960 series switches, under Vlan 2 and Vlan 3, I have following configurations...
interface Vlan2
ip address 172.16.0.30 255.255.255.240
ip helper-address 172.16.0.17
interface Vlan3
ip address 172.16.0.46 255.255.255.240
ip helper-address 172.16.0.17
Now the problem is when i connect a client computer to any port from 1-12, It gets correct IP address from Scope 1 but when I connect a computer to any port from 13-24, it does not get the ip address.
Further I want to do inter VLAN comunication as well for that purpose i Have an ISR 2900 series router. What further configuration i will have to do on router for inter vlan communication.
Can we force the Gigabit Ethernet port to be 1000 full duplex in Cisco Catalyst Express 500 series?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 850 router that whas having problems getting an ip address via DHCP. I did some stuff on it but that didn't work, so I rebooted the router to go back to my last saved startup config. When I turned it back on and connected t othe CLI console I got the "Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialogue?" message. Thinikng I just forgot to save anything to the startup config I went through the initial set up again and made sure to save everything to the startup config. After going through the intial config and setting up a vlan to assign DHCP to clients I saved the config and rebooted, upon reboot and connecting to the CLI console I got the same "Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialogue?" message. Tryign the setup once more and making sure everything was saved to startup config I rebooted again just to make sure the changes would stick, and sure enough they didn't. Whay is the config not saving to the startup config?

Unfortunately somewhere in my playing around the default startup configuration factory loaded on the routerhas been erased. I can load a new a config on the device but as I'm using the router to learn its useful to have the original config load when I factory reset the device. What is the factory start up config?

But if I do show startup-config the old Fex interfaces still shows up. I did try write erase then saved the running-config and its still there.

How would I go about stacking 4 Cisco Catalyst 2960-48PST-L switches? The one switch needs to accept a fiber connection from a distribution switch. Do I have to buy flexstack module and cables? I have 4 Catalyst 2960 connected via Etherchannel to each other. If I plug in my notebook in one port, I see the traffic from the neighbor port. So my switch acts like a hub.. I had a look at my MAC table and saw it isn't full.

I would like to prevent this behaviour. ie. I would like to disable detection of pre-standard equipment. Is there a command I can issue on the 2960-S to do this? For example, on a switch from a different vendor I can issue the command: no power pre-std-detect to prevent it from detecting the 7960 phone, is there an equivalent command on the Catalyst 2960-S ?

View 3 Replies View Related I followed the 3-switch Redundant stacking diagram and now when I boot up the stack Switch 2 is acutally Member 3 and Switch 3 is Member 2.
We plan on having Port-Channels spanning across Switch 1 - Master and Switch 2 (Member 3) of identical port types. Switch 3 (Member 2) is going to have 2 10GIG port channel created.
Is there going to be a problem renumbering the stack as they physically sit or should I just configure the devices based on thier logical member numbers.

When I connect the TLS to an interface on my Cisco 2821, configured at 100/full, it works perfectly. Now the confusing part, I'm trying to connect the TLS to a Catalyst 2960. I configure the necessary port for 100/full, and get 'notconnect' on that interface. I set the interface to auto/auto, and it negotiates at 100/half and causes collisions and packet loss.

we have currently a configuration with 3 bonded (link aggregation) channels, each delivering 1 Gb/s uplink, providing a total of 3 Gb/s uplink. Due to a recent network upgrade, we can now add more channels to the same group in order to have a total of 9 Gb/s uplink, meaning that we should bond toegether 9 channels. When we tried to change the old configuration in order to include six new channels to the bondend group we noticed 2 things: one channel was left in standby (blinking orange led),no increase in the uplink bandwidth semmed to happen,By looking around it looks like the channel group is limited to a maximum of 8 channels [*].

We are using Catalyst 2960 switches and are experiencing issues with QoS. After the QoS, we experience a lot of packet drops and it make the network slow. It appears that the slow performance relates to the egress queuing of each port.
