I recently upgraded our WLC 4404 to release 7.0.98.0. The process was very smooth with no issues. The controller manages access points in two buildings. Prior to the upgrade the access points were maintaining high TX power levels...typically between 1 and 3. After the upgrade the power levels all droped to 6 and 8. I have confirmed that the correct external antenas have been set for each access point. I have not done a site survey to see if the lower power levels are acceptable. But the environment has been very consistent for the past year with regards to TX power levels. For the time being I have manually set a power level of 2 to prevent any service outages. Is there any explanation as to why the power levels have changed so drastically?
We recently had redundant sup cards installed in 2 of our 4507 units after the upgrade I can no longer change Vlan's with the CNA program.I upgrade to the newest version of CNA but that didnt work.
I can still get Vlan information from my 4503's and 4506's with no problem. I figure it is an issue with CNA selecting the sup card to get it's information from?
We are in the middle of some major user moves and changes so I have had 2 of my guys working to move printers on to their own Vlan and some other changes neither is well versed in command line so I set them up with CNA for simple Vlan changes. Now with this out I have to go in and make the changes myself and keeping up with that and my other duties is getting tough.
I just updated my OS from Windows 7 to 8, and I bought a new Galaxy S 3. Nobody seems to be ready for Windows 8 functionality. I don't know how to find the bluetooth feature of my laptop anymore now that I have windows 8 installed. My phone scans for it, and can no longer find it.
I have connected my phone to the laptop, it installs the phone, but cannot find the photos and videos that I have on my phone, even thought there are tons of them.
I thought perhaps I could Bluetooth them to the laptop, but so far, it's been nothing but a frustrating morning trying to locate the bluetooth function, and Dell's website doesn't seem to understand that people actually upgrade their systems to Windows 8, so there's no support there as far as drivers go.
I've got an Inspiron 17R, conveniently out of warranty, service tag <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>.
I have an Acer Desktop Aspire AM3100 running Windows 7 Ultimate. I upgraded my memory. When I turned the PC back on I had lost my whole home network and cannot get internet acces back. I have checked my modem by direct connecting it to my laptop. I have checked my linksys box by doing the same. I can see the linksys on my laptop but cannot access the internet. On my desktop I get nothing? The home network and internet access all disappeared when I upgraded memory.
I tried to upgrade the firmware of my WRT350N but while upgrading my wife switched on the oven and.... yes, power down -> the upgrade has been interrupted. Now the router is no longer responding, it shows just the green power light on (not blinking). I tried all the resets I found googling (pressing the reset button for 30 sec, isconnecting power and reconnecting it again) but no way, there's no way to ping the router at its default address 192.168.1.1. All the leds are switched off (internet, usb, wireless, security) except the green power light. Is there another way to have it back or it is definitely lost?
For some strange reason I was looking at my router and wanted to check and see if there were any firmware upgrades available. I was not having any issues. I noticed that there was an upgrade and one of the notes indicated that it fixed some speed issues. I saved my config before upgrading and reloaded config after upgrading the firmware.Since the upgrade, I have lost connectivity to my printer and have intermittent issues with my remote dvr.The printer is connected wirelessly thru a wet610n.The dvr is connected wirelessly thru a wet610n.I can ping the printer, and I can access the printers web page. The issues appears to be two-way communication. The printer is an HP Officejet 6500a and allows eprint. The printer can no longer contact the eprint server.I have turned off my firewall on my computer and still cannot pring (why would I have to change this anyway, it worked before.)I use a ddns server for software access to my dvr. It worked flawlessly before. Now, the dvr is visible sometimes and sometimes it's not.
My wrt610n is v2 hardware.I called for support, but of course since the warranty has ended, support has ended unless you pay.Nothing like a firmware fix to break your router.I am very disappointed with the upgrade and the support provided.
Just checking in to ask about setting up a network with multiple WAPs. Right now, I have it set up with two WAPs, and can roam seemlessly between the two. Same security, SSIDs, etc. I have one broadcasting on channel 1, and the other on channel 11.What I wanted to ask is this: in the future, I'd like to add two wireless access to a different network that exists in the same building. So I'd have two more WAPs, broadcasting a different network with a different SSID. I can assign one to channel 6, but the last WAP will not have a non-overlapping channel to use. Is that going to cause interference issues?
I have 350 WAP (1142n) running of two WLC 5508 (IOS version 7). WLCs are not located on the same subnets/locations and are not configured as mobility groups. The vlan ids on both wlcs are not identical.
I am looking to enable the internal DHCP on my WLC. I have enabled it and it seems to be operating correctly but I think my routing and or settings allowing me to access anything beyond the private network is wrong.
DHCP is handing out correct IP info and DNS info. How do I route the new private network (10.1.9.*) out to our existing 10.1.4.1. (management IP is 10.1.4.253) Can this be done within the WLC ?
I'm working on migrating autonomous WAPs to lightweight mode in a WLC 5508. Some of the older WAPs are being decommissioned at the same time.
One issue I have found is that after replacing an old WAP in autonomous mode with a new WAP (3502); some clients near the coverage of this new LWAPP are now connecting to another WAP in autonomous mode that has not been converted or replaced yet; but that is located quite far away from where these clients are, actually two floors down. Users on these clients have reported wifi dropouts, which is obvious due to the distance where the old WAP is. A workaround that seems to work is removing the wifi profiles in the client machines and recreating them again, which is not a good solution for all of the wifi profiles we have in place. At this point of time we still need to have the older WAPs until they are all replaced.
How can I get clients connecting to a LWAPP that is closer to their location? I'm wondering what causes those clients to look for an existing older WAP rather than connecting to the new LWAPP, which is broadcasting the same SSID closer to where they aree. Bear in mind that the new LWAPP is working fine and has live sessions working just fine.
We have about 20 of the above WAPs in our company network and are quite satisfied with the performance. However occasionally we need to manually reboot the WAPs in order to resolve sporadic connectivity issues that cannot be resolved on the client devices. In order to optimize the performance we would like to automatically restart our WAPs at a certain time (e.g. at night) on a daily or weekly basis. We are currently using WAP4410N-fw-2.0.0.5-K9.
I am looking for a reference document for the type of devices that are supported under 5Ghz. We are using a 5500 WLC and 3600 WAPs. Lot of users cannot connect to network via mobile devices. Is there a reference doc from cisco which i can use to inform them?
I need to upgrade our Wireless Lan Controller to support new APs. I was able to get the new code due to a security advisory on the code we are running now. I am upgrading from 6.0.196.0 to 7.0.220.0 (MD). I have read in some of the technical docs that the WCS has to match the WLC. I cannot find any documentation as to what this entails on the WCS.
I have a Cisco WLC 4404 with version software 7.0.230.0 and it gived me a this logg
Oct 9 15:43:08 192.168.122.34 WLC_4404_CC: *osapiReaper: Oct 09 15:41:49.549: %OSAPI-3-FILE_OPEN_FAILED: osapi_file.c:370 Failed to open the file : /proc/895/stat.(erno 24)
I have a WLC 4404 installed and we would like to manage the bandwidth per SSID. Today we have configured many SSID because our campus has a lot of wireless users and any SSID has only one class C subnet (/24).
We would like to configure each SSID with more subnets. is this possible ?
Additionally we need to restrict the bandwidth per SSID. is this possible ? We have some SSID for less important users and we would like to assign the bandwidth per SSID.
I have a Cisco 4404 WLC that is up, has green status light, the interfaces are showing activity. I see it connected to my Cisco 6500, (Sh port status) it shows connected and trunking,; I also see a lot of activity on the interfaces. Also it will not let me console in, I can console in on my other Cisco 4404 WLC's with out and issues, so I know my cables and configure are correct. The only change a I made today was the time zone. I noticed the time was off by a hour and noticed that the time zone wasn't set so I set it correctly. Shortly after that I saw the WLC go belly o up in my WCS. I tried rebooting the WLC several times without luck. Since I can not gain access via the console I can not really trouble shoot.
Trying to upgrade my Wireless LAN controller model 4404, I'm running 4.1.190.4 code and want to upgrade to 6.0.202. Looking at the release notes for 6.0.202 and the compatibility matrix, the matrix indicates I two intermediate loads first. One is 4.1.192.35m and the other is 6.0.182.0 then I can load 6.0.202 code. My problem is I can't find the 4.1.92.35m code. Looking at the software download the highest 4.1 folder has is 4.1.185.0. where to find the 4.1.192.35m code for 4404 WLC?
WLC 4404 is configured as Anchor controller, the MAC violation are captured by Controller. the Violated MAC are deleted manually through GUI, but when tried deleting through CLI using command
>Config exclusionlist delete <mac address>
we get error message as error deleting user <mac address>
We have 2 4404 controllers running 6.0.x code. I have several SSID setup with different VLANS. When the clients associate they do not show the name of the AP they are connected to, is there any way to display the assocated AP name?
I got a WLC4404 running software version 5.1.151.0 with 40 LWAPPs (mostly 1242AG). We got new Dell Latitude E6500 Laptops with Intel 5100 NICs. After upgrading the bios to the latest version and installing the latest wlan driver, wireless is working the most time. After about 4 reboots I see the following message in the WLCs logfile: "Thu Sep 18 13:53:10 2008 AAA Authentication Failure for UserName:host/hostname.domain.name User Type: WLAN USER".After I disable the wlan-card, it's working again.
I am facing a strange problem in my WLAN Setup. none of my wireless clients are able to associate with Wireless LAN but when I delete and create a new wireless profile in WLC 4404 clients starts associating with WLAN. every 2-3 days I had to delete and create wlan profile. Is it related to IOS bug or any other problem? My Wireless LAN Controller image is AIR-WLC4400-K9-5-1-151-0.aes.
I have a 4404 with 3 SSID's configured on it. I only want all SSID's to be available on one floor in one building and not on any other AP's in any other building or floor.I thought the way to do it was via AP group but have not had any luck getting that to work. I setup a group for the AP's that I do not want all SSID's and then assigned those AP's to that group. However, I can still see all three SSID's where I only want to see 2 SSID's.
I've downloaded Prime Infrastructure 1.2 eval and wanted to see what it looked from WCS that I am currently using to manage the wireless network and I added the WLC (4404) device but it list the device as "Managed with Warning" and I can't find what the warning is.
I have WLC 4404 Controller with 180 LWAPP. i want to disable Broadcast SSID from some specified APs not all. is it possible to do that with 4404 WLC controller.
I have Cisco 4404 WLC with Image 7.0.235.0 We have one SSID Sup_Admin with following config. Which is getting the IP address from the interface pool “corp”.
WPA+WPA2 with AES and TKIP Auth key Mgmt is 802.1X
We are using Cisco ACS as radius server On the same WLC I have created another SSID Corp_Admin . Which also should get the IP address from the interface pool “corp”. Both SSID has the same settings ,but the second SSID is not working.
The story is that we recently upgraded our 4404 controller to the new 7.2.0.230 code. This upgrade was from 4.2.209 code. I would like to make the change to the Multicast setup so that It is multcasted and not unicasted. So I went into the controller and selected MULTICAST for AP multicast mode and entered in a multicast ip of 239.255.1.60 ( default choosen in the cisco howto's)I then test the reason for enabling the multicast and it doesnt work. The problem is that the Wireless HP printers setup to use Apples IPRINT are not able to be found. However, when I select the Multicast setting for the APs to be UNICAST the Ipads can find the Printers and print to them. What am I doing wrong with this Multicast setting? Do i need to add a Multicast address to the router?
I have a 4404 running firmware 7.0 and something happened (don't think it was a hack), but all of a sudden I can't login to the box via web or ssh or even telnet.
In trying the recovery procedure, I get a lot of messages scrolling through and cannot do the Restore-Password command on the CLI.
I'm attaching the whole capture, but here's a truncated capture from the procedure:
*fp_main_task: Nov 21 10:39:46.501: sshpmGetCID: comparing to row 0, CA cert >bsnOldDefaultCaCert< *fp_main_task: Nov 21 10:39:46.501: sshpmGetCID: comparing to row 1, CA cert >bsnDefaultRootCaCert<
[Code].....
So as you can see, my prompt to enter the command is taken up by this fp_main message and it uses up the first and only time I can enter this in. I'm trying everything I can to not have to go back to factory defaults.
I have (2) WLC-4404's with one in standby. I noticed this controller has been up for 300+ days and i was just wondering if it will be useful to reboot these once in a while? Any benefits or should i just leave them running?
