Nov 13, 2011I just got a new notebook that has windows ultimate, and whenever i turn it on it knocks off all the other PCS on the network and the printer, including the one the router is wired to. I can only get it to pick up all 4 devices when i go into the Lynksys program and click change password. But then the program locks up and i have to shut it off manually.
I already reset the router four times trying to get it to pick up all the PCs but it never works. I'm ready to toss the router and get something else. Are there any settings I can change or reset before this router becomes garbage fodder?

Oct 3, 2011I have a wireless modem on the first floor of my house, where I got cables through the wall running throughout rooms in first floor, ground floor and basement.I have my small business at the basement, so I have 2 PCs one printer and one external hard disc which also connects directly to a modem/router.I have 3 PCs from the first and ground floor that connect through the wall to my modem, and everything works well. But for my basement, which only has 1 lan cable output on the wall, I got myself a router so that I can connect all my devices.I connect the router with my modem, and then the PCs, printer and hard disc on the router. The PCs have internet access, so I know the connection to the modem has nothing wrong to it. But I am not able to access the PCs connected to the router from the PCs connected to the modem, or vice versa.
I was told to not obtain an IP address automatically, so I assigned my modem and router to work on 192.168.10.x and gave my PCs IPs such as 192.168.10.19 Only after setting this up did all my PCs have internet access, but again, no network communication between PCs on modem and PCs on router.One thing that might be worth mentioning, is that through time, my network keeps going from Home Network: Network, to Network 2, Network 3, and so on... now it's on Network 5. I have no clue why this happens, and if it's related to my problem

The desktop has no problems accessing the other computers.One laptop has no problem accessing the other computers on the network. The other laptop has trouble with the windows XP machine. It asks for login info, which there is none. I tested with the laptop wired and it seemed to access it normally. Also, it is not consistant. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Feb 17, 2012I've been through pages and pages of Google and Bing searches, and I've found plenty who have this issue, but none who seem to get it solved. Three computers, all running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, are members of a Homegroup that functioned perfectly for more than a year until Tuesday of this week. On Tuesday, I installed Windows updates and also updated from Norton 360 v5 to v6.Computer A and B don't have password protected logins to Windows; Computer C is password protected. Until Tuesday, A and B have never been required to enter a password to access shared files and folders on C. Computer A still communicates fine in both directions with B and C, without having to enter C's Windows login credentials. B can be accessed by C, but when B attempts to access the C libraries that are shared by C to the Homegroup, the appropriate shared folders are shown (Documents, Pictures, etc.), but instead of their usual icons, the icons look like this: url... and if I try to click on them, I am prompted for a Network Password like this: url... The name following "Enter your network password to connect to:" is the name of C, and the "Domain" shown below the password block is the name of B. (Domains aren't even possible with Home Premium, are they?)
If I enter C's username and password I can access C from B, but upon rebooting B it starts all over again, even if I click "Remember my credentials." Sometimes I don't get the prompt and instead am told that I don't have permission to view

Jan 5, 2013I just got back from vacation and suddenly can't connect to my Wifi network at home with my netbook anymore. It says validating identity but never connects. When I try to repair the connection, it keeps authenticating and then says that windows is unable to find a certificate to log me on to the network. I did some googling and it was suggested to uncheck the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network box under the Authentication tab in Wireless Network properties. I tried that but then I get an error message saying "The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration".I have no idea what to do or what the problem is. My other laptop works fine from which I have set up this network works fine. My phone seems to work fine, too. I already restarted the router and my netbook but that didn't work either.

Jun 6, 2012My brother has an HP G60 from 2009 with windows 7 home premium and 64 bit operating system. Whenever he turns it on and connects it to the internet, the whole network crashes. My xbox, ipod, laptop, and the main desktop (Which we also just changed to a Dell one.)downstairs all cannot connect to the internet. This lasts from anywhere between 2 and 15 minutes and it continues to crash the internet in about 15 minute intervals as long as his computer is connected to the internet. No other devices in the house cause this as I can have all of my stuff connected and nothing happens. We have a Linksys WRT110 router but I don't think that or the modem is the problem as we have changed both multiple times. This has been happening for about a year ever since my oldest brother gave my brother the laptop.

I have a desktop computer and BluRay player hardwired to the router and the internet works fine on them through the router.The problem is not that I can't connect or lose connection, the wireless network isn't showing up as existing anymore, like it has disappeared.
