View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is for a E1000 model router.I recently downloaded Cisco Connect. It wants my router name and password. I don't know the password. How can I find the password or change it? The password might still be the default, but "admin" does not work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI successful set up my WRT54GR router. Now I want to add a new device but can't find or remember my user name and password. So I decided to reinstall the router only to find that the http://192.168.1.1 page asks me for my admin password - having sensibly created one 4 years ago which I have now forgotten or where I wrote it down. How the hell do I get around this - if at all or do I have to buy a new router and start all over again!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a wireless modem on the first floor of my house, where I got cables through the wall running throughout rooms in first floor, ground floor and basement.I have my small business at the basement, so I have 2 PCs one printer and one external hard disc which also connects directly to a modem/router.I have 3 PCs from the first and ground floor that connect through the wall to my modem, and everything works well. But for my basement, which only has 1 lan cable output on the wall, I got myself a router so that I can connect all my devices.I connect the router with my modem, and then the PCs, printer and hard disc on the router. The PCs have internet access, so I know the connection to the modem has nothing wrong to it. But I am not able to access the PCs connected to the router from the PCs connected to the modem, or vice versa.
I was told to not obtain an IP address automatically, so I assigned my modem and router to work on 192.168.10.x and gave my PCs IPs such as 192.168.10.19 Only after setting this up did all my PCs have internet access, but again, no network communication between PCs on modem and PCs on router. One thing that might be worth mentioning, is that through time, my network keeps going from Home Network: Network, to Network 2, Network 3, and so on... now it's on Network 5. I have no clue why this happens, and if it's related to my problem
I am trying to connect to my wireless network and i cand find my security key password. where is it located on my router?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Netgear Router WNR 2000 v3 and installed it. I got inside the router and could set up a Network Name and security key. However, I can not access the internet when I chose a security password using WPA 2, WPA-PSK + WPA 2 PSK, or WPA/WPA 2. It only accesses the internet when I chose None.( no secured ).At this time, my network is unsecured because there isn't way I can access the internet when I create a security key using the 3 options the router offers.
Note : I have tried the 3 security options creating a key number and my computer connect to the wireless network but don't access the internet. It only access the internet when I select None ( no secured )

I have a wireless router AOpen AOI-893. It works fine on my laptop, but I bought a new handheld Cruz tablet and when I try to connect to WiFi , the only strong signal seems to be a "default" one. It asks for a password, which I'm unable to come up with. I've tried all of the ones I usually use, plus 1234, admin, etc. No luck. Either I'm barking up the wrong tree entirely by trying the "default" , or I need to know how to find a password. I'm a computer illiterate.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT54G2 wireless router set up on my home network. When I first got the router, I used the installation disk on my desktop PC to set up my wireless network. I am getting rid of this computer, as I now have a laptop computer. The laptop can already utilize the network, and I can even configure the router using the laptop. Obviously, the old desktop doesn't even have to be turned on for any other laptops or devices to use the network.
If I get rid of the old desktop, will it be necessary to run the installation disk that came with the router on my new primary PC? Or is that a one time process to configure the router with the modem and set up a network?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been trying for the better half of the morning and afternoon to configure my family's wireless network. In particular, I would like to password protect the Wifi in such a way that every time I disconnect from the internet, a password is required to reconnect.I have setup the password and confirmed that it works properly when other machines in the house try to connect; however, the main computer I have used to set everything up is also a shared computer. Every time I disconnect from the internet and reconnect, it automatically connects without requesting the Wifi password.
Because it is a shared computer, I would like to disable internet access while I am away but leave the rest of the computer functional. Creating separate user accounts is not an option at this time.Is there any way to require that every computer submit the Wifi password after disconnecting and attempting to reconnect?
Firstly I cannot get my Linksys RE1000 to work with my network having tried the set up CD on 2 computers (mac and windows). The main router is a BT Home Hub 2.0
The main router is in the basement where out internet connection enters the house, also in the basement is our LAN board where we have ethernet cables extending to parts of the house. There is weak wireless signal from groundfloor up to the top floor so wanted to find something where I could plug into the ethernet port and it would broadcast an wireless network to the upper floors/areas with a weaker signal. Thought the RE1000 would do this job but i can't get it to do it wirelessly let alone connect it to the main router using a ethernet cable.
I would like to wirelessly connect my printer through the new router without internet. The setup CD won't allow me to install without an internet connection.
