i want to set up a vpn connection to my home network. i see that the e2000 supports ipsec, but does not provide a client. what client can i use to establish a connection?
View 4 RepliesI have a Linksys E2000 router on my home network. The router has the newest version of firmware. Every once in a while, wireless clients on my network become "isolated". Here's an example of what happens. I set up a new wireless printer. I can print to the printer wirelessly from my phone, PC's, etc. all fine after setup. I'm thinking everything is cool!! Well after 2 weeks to 1 month this device will become "isolated" so I cannot print to it; it has an IP address, it can ping its gateway, but i cannot ping it from other devices on the same subnet. I know it's not the printer because if i unplug my E2000 and plug it back in, it works fine.
Another example. I have two windows 7 PC's that are on the same home group and i can share files between them. Sometimes it works and other times it doesnt. I can ping my gateway but they cannot ping each other. I would troubleshoot the issue like crazy from the host end, but the second i unplug my E2000 and plug it back in, BINGO they can talk. Something is wrong with how these routers function with hosts in inter-subnet communications.
I've got the E2000 at home for our private network.
We are three guys sharing a flat. We have personal laptops, work laptops, mobile phones, games consoles, tablets etc that connect to the internet.
Problem is that when someone downloads stuff, the speed is slow for the rest of us. So i was hoping i could set up something like three "channels" so each of us could have the same download speed, ie 1 mbs each regardless if others are using the network at the same time. And then maybe a guest network for all the mobiles and tablets etc. MAC filtering for access for our personal laptops should work.
We have a 20mbit cable network line.
Can i do all of this on the E2000 and how?
I currently have my wired cable internet hooked into my wrt310n. I have that hooked into a linksys 10/100 ef3124 switch. From there, I have cat5 run to the back of my house, where the wireless signal is weakest. I've got an E2000 router and would like to hook that in at the back of the house. What settings do I need to make in order to set up a completely new wireless network in the back of the house?

The problem is that when I'm connected to the Linksys, either wired or wireless, the connection to the internet will drop after what seems to be a random amount of time (normally anywhere from 2-10 minutes). I can restore the connection by doing any of these things:-reboot Linksys-disconnect and reconnect cable from router to fiber box-if on wireless connection, make changes to the router wifi settings, like change the wifi channel.The internal network stays up, and I can ping both the internal and external ip of the router, but not the fiber box. I have also had the same behavior with an Edimax Wifi AP and less frequently with a Edimax router (once every 1-2 days). I have done everything I can think of:-changed the wifi channels-changed the ip ranges, subnets, turned router DHCP off and back on-booted the fiber box-changed cables-updated all routers to the latest firmware, the network cards with latest drivers...and loads other things that I don't remember right now. For the wifi side of things, there are no other networks in range that could interfere. The same problem occurs on both my and wife's Win 7 laptops and on the iMac (latest OSX). Here's a fun detail: while the Linksys has lost its connection to the internet, I can still access the internet through the old Edimax router connected to the same fiber box, either wired or wireless.

I'm using a Linksys Wireless-N router (WRT160N) with WEP encryption. I'm running two Windows 7 laptops, LG BluRay player, Apple TV, Xbox 360 (Wired) iPhone 4, and a iPad 2. I also have a small home network, with one other PC and a Game Console. I own a Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router. My problem is this. How do I share that internet connection with the rest of the home network?To the best of my knowledge its not possible to connect my mobile phone directly to my Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router.
So my alternative idea is to connect to the internet via one PC, set up that internet connection as "Shared." and then allow the other devices on the home network to connect thru this. My question is how do I set up my Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router to allow my other PC and game console connect to the internet? Bridge Mode? PPPoE?
I am using a E2000 connected to a DSL modem via the internet port. My modem is able to connect at gigabit speed but it doesn't seem to be the case with the E2000. All other ports are running at gigabit speed without problem. Is there any parameter that can be modified or is it a router limit?

However, when I downoaded the software to set it up again, it said it was not compatable with my Mac OS (X Lion 10.7.4). I am sure there is a way to manually set it up via an ethernet connection, but I am at a loss as to how to do that. The wireless router is working just fine, I am able to connect to the internet wirelessly and there's nothing wrong with my internet service, however the wireless router is not secured.I have my Mac connected to the wireles router via an ethernet cord.

We also connect to the e2000 wirelessly.Problems started yesterday with no internet. Last night I rebooted everything and still nothing works. Connected laptop to cable modem directly. Wasn't getting internet connectivity so I called Comcast. They reset my modem and everything started working fine. Now I can directly connect from cable modem to laptop and internet works fine. I try connecting the modem to the router and still no internet.

I've tried single port forwarding, port range forwarding, turning UPnP off and on ... in short I've tried a lot of stuff and the only thing that clears the message is to remove the router out of the equation. The message disappears as soon as I connect the pc directly to the modem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy connection to Davis Instruments' WeatherLink had been working for many weeks, when my old WRT54G quite renewing DHCP leases. I've replaced it with a new E2000. All seems well. The Wifi network is working and my server resources to the outside are working. But the blasted WeatherLink software complains that it can't connect to to the interface box. This is a wired connection. The software finds the MAC address of the interface box and the assigned IP address, but "testing" the connection fails. I can ping the IP address of the interface box. The Davis people insist this is an issue with the router. The WeatherLink software uses a weird port: 22222 I didn't know there were ports with 5 digits. I've tried port forwarding this to the IP of the computer, but nothing changes. I think if I can ping the IP of the interface from the computer, communication should work.

Problem I am running into is that the NAT error ends up showing on at least two of the xboxs. Before I added the extra two xboxs for my boys, I didn't have any issues. Had to move stuff around and unplugged stuff now I am having problems. Current connection setup is modem> router> switch. Xbox 1 is wired to switch, NAT type is open. Xbox 2 wireless to router, NAT type is Strict. Xbox 3 wired to switch, NAT type moderate. Xbox 4 wireless to router, NAT type is strict. My network cannot find the printer. I looked at my riuter setup and the MAC Address Clone has two buttons, Enabled Disabled. The Disabled button is clicked on. Accdording to documentation I foudn on this website, it looks like I can Enabled the MAC Address clone button. The document also mentgioend entereding the MAC address for a PC.
If I enable the MAC Address Clone, do I enter the MAC address for the printer or during the install process does the MAC address get installed also
I recently replaced my Linksys WRV54G with a Linksys e2000 where I stream H.264 vido in 480p from one computer connected over gigabit to my Media Center running on Windows 7 64 bit connected at 10/100.
Before the router change, I was able to playback video over the network with no problems. If I connect the Linksys WRV54G again, the issue goes away. The Linksys WRV54G does not have gigabit and I have read related issues of video stuttering over gigabit.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the AE1000 adaptor on my wife's computer and direct wired on mine is the E2000.The e2000 is set to 2.4mhz and when connected to the wireless network, my wifes ae1000 shows it is connected at 144mbps.When I change the e2000 to 5.0 mhz and then my wife connects to the internet, she shows the ae1000 at 16-53 mbps. When I switch back to 2.4 she shows 144. I thought that when the e2000 is connected at 5.0 she should have a "faster connection".

Once rebooted i am able to connect again to the internet with no problems, interestingly enough my main PC never loses connection. Also sometimes when i lose my connection and reboot the wireless router i will have a IP conflict pop up on my 2nd PC however i would i say i get this once in every 10 dissconects and not all the time. Sometimes i won't dissconect at all in a day but sometimes i may dissconect 5-6 times.

Nook connects seamlessly with every other network I've tried. Had my Bro-in-law over with his Anfroid based mobile devices and they won't connect either. I know that the wireless network is working because my i-Touch and my blue-ray (internet streaming) still are working with the Cisco/Linksys E2000. I made sure that the wireless switch on my Gateway laptop was in the on position. The wireless hardware does not show up in the hardware control panel. Is this a driver issue or a hardware issue? It does not seem that it would be a hardware problem.
My Gateway is still under warranty thru Best Buy. If it's a hardware problem, it's covered but if it's a software problem(I take it that a driver would be software), they want $100 to fix. This is what brings me to a second question, if it's a driver issue, should I just upgrade to Window 7? Does Window 7 have build in drivers for wireless hardware?
I have a Linksys WRT54G2 wireless router set up on my home network. When I first got the router, I used the installation disk on my desktop PC to set up my wireless network. I am getting rid of this computer, as I now have a laptop computer. The laptop can already utilize the network, and I can even configure the router using the laptop. Obviously, the old desktop doesn't even have to be turned on for any other laptops or devices to use the network.
If I get rid of the old desktop, will it be necessary to run the installation disk that came with the router on my new primary PC? Or is that a one time process to configure the router with the modem and set up a network?

The main router is in the basement where out internet connection enters the house, also in the basement is our LAN board where we have ethernet cables extending to parts of the house. There is weak wireless signal from groundfloor up to the top floor so wanted to find something where I could plug into the ethernet port and it would broadcast an wireless network to the upper floors/areas with a weaker signal. Thought the RE1000 would do this job but i can't get it to do it wirelessly let alone connect it to the main router using a ethernet cable.
