View 1 Replies View RelatedProblem: My PS3 displays An Ethernet cable is not connected almost immediately after logging in. I am connected through a Linksys E2000 router. If I reset the cable modem, it will work for 10-15 minutes until it errors out again. If I plug the PS3 directly into the cable modem, it works fine. I'm really confused. I do not believe it is the router, as my computer is also connected to the router, and works fine. My Touchpad is connected wirelessly and also works fine. I do not believe it is the PS3, because it works fine if I plug it directly into the cable modem. I tried switching to wireless and it finds a lot of other signals (including mine), but I have the same problem if I choose wireless.I first had this problem with a launch PS3 and a Netgear router after almost three years of no problems.

It has no options that I can modify. The modem has a built in DHCP server. However, I can't modify it and I don't like the ip configuration it uses. For the time being I have the modem connected to a switch which is working fine. What I would like to know is how to configure the e2000 to use the modems connection. I used PPPoE for DSL and had login information.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI read an earlier posting about an issue between SPI on the latest WRT610N Version 1.0 firmware and a user's Apple TV. This pointed me to a "solution" to a perplexing problem I was having.
I have 4 machines, 3 connected via WiFi and 1 on one of the wired ethernet ports. I also have 2 Apple Airport Express units for audio streaming as well as 2 iPhones connected wirelessly.
Now for the symptoms, which are all new since updating to firmware ver.1.00.03.15:
1. The WiFi machines see the Airport Express units and can stream audio to them. However, the iPhone Remote app has trouble staying connected to iTunes running on any of these machines. A router reboot is a temporary fix, but connection is eventually lost again.
2. The wired machine cannot see the Airport Express units, nor can the Remote app pair with iTunes on that machine. It's as though no Bonjour-related functions work. Here, a router reboot also provides a temporary fix, but one that lasts only minutes.
Based on that prior post, I disabled SPI on the router and, lo and behold, the wired machine suddenly sees all Airport Express units and can pair with the iPhone Remote app!
I was going crazy, verifying that I was not having Windows Firewall issues, that there wasn't an incompatibility with Windows 7 (which I'm running on all), that this wasn't a Homegroup incompatibility of some sort, that Bonjour was up to date, etc. Only turning off SPI fixed the problem entirely.
So, Linksys ...Any firmware bug fix in the works for this? Can I safely go back to the prior firmware update without security or function concerns? If so, where can I get my hands on the older firmware file?

Problem I am running into is that the NAT error ends up showing on at least two of the xboxs. Before I added the extra two xboxs for my boys, I didn't have any issues. Had to move stuff around and unplugged stuff now I am having problems. Current connection setup is modem> router> switch. Xbox 1 is wired to switch, NAT type is open. Xbox 2 wireless to router, NAT type is Strict. Xbox 3 wired to switch, NAT type moderate. Xbox 4 wireless to router, NAT type is strict. How do I set up the network and not have NAT errors on the Xboxs. I'm not to overly worried about Xbox 4, currently due that user not having a Xbox Live account.

My network cannot find the printer. I looked at my riuter setup and the MAC Address Clone has two buttons, Enabled Disabled. The Disabled button is clicked on. Accdording to documentation I foudn on this website, it looks like I can Enabled the MAC Address clone button. The document also mentgioend entereding the MAC address for a PC.
If I enable the MAC Address Clone, do I enter the MAC address for the printer or during the install process does the MAC address get installed also
I have a Linksys E2000 router on my home network. The router has the newest version of firmware. Every once in a while, wireless clients on my network become "isolated". Here's an example of what happens. I set up a new wireless printer. I can print to the printer wirelessly from my phone, PC's, etc. all fine after setup. I'm thinking everything is cool!! Well after 2 weeks to 1 month this device will become "isolated" so I cannot print to it; it has an IP address, it can ping its gateway, but i cannot ping it from other devices on the same subnet. I know it's not the printer because if i unplug my E2000 and plug it back in, it works fine.
Another example. I have two windows 7 PC's that are on the same home group and i can share files between them. Sometimes it works and other times it doesnt. I can ping my gateway but they cannot ping each other. I would troubleshoot the issue like crazy from the host end, but the second i unplug my E2000 and plug it back in, BINGO they can talk. Something is wrong with how these routers function with hosts in inter-subnet communications.
I've got the E2000 at home for our private network.
We are three guys sharing a flat. We have personal laptops, work laptops, mobile phones, games consoles, tablets etc that connect to the internet.
Problem is that when someone downloads stuff, the speed is slow for the rest of us. So i was hoping i could set up something like three "channels" so each of us could have the same download speed, ie 1 mbs each regardless if others are using the network at the same time. And then maybe a guest network for all the mobiles and tablets etc. MAC filtering for access for our personal laptops should work.
We have a 20mbit cable network line.
Can i do all of this on the E2000 and how?
I recently replaced my Linksys WRV54G with a Linksys e2000 where I stream H.264 vido in 480p from one computer connected over gigabit to my Media Center running on Windows 7 64 bit connected at 10/100.
Before the router change, I was able to playback video over the network with no problems. If I connect the Linksys WRV54G again, the issue goes away. The Linksys WRV54G does not have gigabit and I have read related issues of video stuttering over gigabit.
I switched from Time Capsule with AirPort to E2000 and have a problem with configuration.I use the same IPs as in AirPort and E2000 gives me an error:"The WAN IP address cannot be the same subnet as the Guest Network IP address" and I can't save configuration.But in my opinion they are different.I use "Static IP" option and I have IPs from my ISP: [code] So WAN IP is different subnet as LAN and I don't know what to do now. It worked with these settings in AirPort and here I can't proceed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHave a network set up but it only works on the printer and public folders. Want the network to give me full access to all computers. Desktops and laptop run Win 7. Am familiar with computers. Was an electronics tech, NOT a computer tech, for 15 years and have upgraded / built several computers for family and friends for more than 10 years.
My guess is it would be a lot easier to put what I want to share in a public folder but there is only my wife and me. Guests log onto a "guest" account on the router and do not think they would have access to any folders, public or private, no matter how the network is set up on the main account but not sure.
Don't remember specs exactly but all computers are less than 2 years old. Built desktops with AMD dual core and 6 GB ram. Laptop has Intel Centrino dual core with 4 GB ram. Router is Cisco Linksys E2000. Can get more specific specs if needed. Desktops are wired, laptop is wireless.
After reinstalling Vista, Vista does not recognize my wireless network. I know that the wireless network is working because my i-Touch and my blue-ray (internet streaming) still are working with the Cisco/Linksys E2000. I made sure that the wireless switch on my Gateway laptop was in the on position. The wireless hardware does not show up in the hardware control panel. Is this a driver issue or a hardware issue? It does not seem that it would be a hardware problem.
My Gateway is still under warranty thru Best Buy. If it's a hardware problem, it's covered but if it's a software problem(I take it that a driver would be software), they want $100 to fix. This is what brings me to a second question, if it's a driver issue, should I just upgrade to Window 7? Does Window 7 have build in drivers for wireless hardware?
I just got a new hawking N range extender to run on our network. My parents just got a new Internet Ready TV for the holidays but the wireless doesn't reach to their room. I ordered this range extender to boost the signal from our Linksys E2000 router. I was having a hell of a time setting it up last night. I was hoping that I could have them both use the same SSID so they would basically be the same network with all of our laptops/iPhones/iPads seamlessly switching to the strongest signal. (Router is in basement, extender is on the main floor). Unfortunately just setting them up with the same name and WPA key doesn't work as easy as I thought it would. So as of right now I have the extender set up as a different network name and it is working great. (router SSID = name, extender SSID = nameE) I just want to know if there is a way to make it work with the same SSID. I've been trying to research and have come across forums saying they need to have ALL the info the same (SSID, PassKey, Channel) and others saying the channels need to be different.
Right now I left the extender setup with the default IP and made it static so I could access the web interface again because the CD installation that came with it is absolute garbage (you can't change the broadcast channel with it). I can get into the settings easily by using 192.168.1.240 but I am weary to try to change things around again because I already have set up and reset this guy at least 5 times.
We recently moved to a place with included internet that was going through a wireless network. All of my devices connect fine, no problem (iPhone xbox and USB adapter) but the lady friends laptop wont connect. It recognizes the network, connects to the network after the password has been entered but will not "give out" any internet. Signal Strength is very good (router is maybe 20 feet from us). All the drivers for the wireless adapter in her laptop are up to date and it will connect to other networks, like at her mom's. This is a newer router and funny enough we actually used this exact model at our last place and it had no problems with this. After calling our landlords ISP they said that there may be a problem with the compatibility of her laptop (its only 3 years old and connects to other networks fine) with the router, yet it connected to the same model not 6 months ago.
People we are at wits end and I am . As my username states If I cant find a fix for this I will enjoy smashing this thing to bits.

I used to have this exact setup with 2 wrt610ns i believe was the model number, i have one at my house, connected to my dsl, and then another in my "man cave" connected by a approximately 250 foot buried outdoor cat6 cable, inside of conduit of course. Last week both routers along with my modem were fried during a storm, so now i rebuilt the network with 2 e4200s, i hooked everything up and b4 i even had a chance to set my network up like i had to do b4 (a 192.168.10.1 subnet in the mancave) everything was already getting internet, however i cannot access the web based setup for the 2nd router (mancave) the dhcp client table shows it with an address of 192.168.1.139. even if i disconnect, reset the 2nd router and set it up on a 192.168.10.1 address as soon as i connect it to the main router, it goes right back to the .1.139 ip address. the only problem i have with this is that i would like to have the freedom to change my wifi passwords or edit other settings on my network without having to disconnect from the main router everytime, assuming that will work and i wont have to do a hard reset in order to get the router back to a default ip. the cable connecting the 2 routers goes from a lan port on the 1st router to the internet port on the 2nd.

I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).
View 9 Replies View Relatedi just bought a sony lcd tv and this model can be controlled by a smartphone via an app called mediaremote. The app should scan the local network and find the tv and than, after pairing, you can use the smartphone as remote controller over Wi-Fi.
My problem is that the router block the network scan and the app can't find the tv; is there somethig i can chack in the configuration or that else to permit the local network scan?
I tried to connect tv and smartphone to the neighbour wifi and the app woks perfect so i'm sure that is a my network problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago I set up FTP on my QNap for the first time. To my surprise I was able to connect to it from an outside network with no further configuration needed. Since then I have had a bit of an issue with firmware. I ended up wiping and upgrading the QNap. Since then I am unable to connect. Some resources are saying the only problem is that I don't have port forwarding set up. I guess my default router settings were already set up to forward the port (I'm not sure how to confirm) because it worked originally, the only thing that changed is my QNap settings. I would like to be able to use it as a FTP, MySQL database, and a few other things. Will I have to do a different configuration for each one?
My network set up is like this: Verizon Router/Modem -> Linksys Router e2000 -> Qnap (ethernet)
I accessed my verizon router and under port forwarding it says "Protocol: FTP, Ports: TCP Any -> 21". NAT is disabled on the Linksys so does that mean I won't have to configure it at all because it is set up in bridged mode as a dummy switch?
What IP should I be using to try to access it remotely?

I current have a Cisco 2100 Cable modem (192.168.100.1) connected to a Cisco Linksys E2000 (192.168.0.1) that is connected to a Cisco 3550 (192.168.0.10). I would like to relocate the E2000 to another room. This would require me to connect the 2100 and the E2000 through the 3550. I have had to set a MAC address clone on the E2000 of the PC that is also connected to the 3550.
The question I have is how do I get this all to interconnect so that the E2000 is used by the 2100 for validation to the internet provider (Time/Warner). I am also using the E2000 for DHCP.
