My router has a main network name (SSID) and media network name (SSID). I know how to change the main network name (SSID) but I don't remember exactly how I can change media network name (SSID).
View 6 RepliesI recently replaced my Linksys WRV54G with a Linksys e2000 where I stream H.264 vido in 480p from one computer connected over gigabit to my Media Center running on Windows 7 64 bit connected at 10/100.
Before the router change, I was able to playback video over the network with no problems. If I connect the Linksys WRV54G again, the issue goes away. The Linksys WRV54G does not have gigabit and I have read related issues of video stuttering over gigabit.
I have just setup a E2000 at home. All the wireless connections work and also my NAS server who i wired. But when i try to setup my wired media server it will not connect.

I'm using Windows Media Player v 12.0 on Windows 7 and some older version on Windows XP and it's my understanding that the Media Server should appear under the "Other Libraries" section but it does not.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a bug in the E3000 firmware (I have the latest as of this date) or is the Media Server simply not compatible with Windows Media Player? compatible media player for Windows 7?
I did read a post about a firmware upgrade on the 4200 that broke the media player, but I don't know if such a problem exists for the E3000.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using the e4200 for about a week. So far, so good! However, a primary reason I purch it was the ability to share via USB across my network (Files and such). Read the approved USB drives that r compatible and although my specfic drive was not listed (WD, my Passport) I connected it to the e4200 and set a folder called "movies"to share. In this folder I have both bluray rips (25-32GB) and standard rips (5gb or less). Regardless of source, the content was not playable. It buffered like crazy. So, is it as simple as using an approved USB drive and I will be able to share appropriately?
The same folder plays great when connected directly to one of my media streamers USB drive, so don't think the drive/source is bad.
I have a 1TB USB hard drive attached to my E3000 (current firmware), I use it for FTP and Shared Media on my network. Recently I have noticed that I have files out there that have 0 KB in size (file names/details are still these), I re-upload the files to the folders and during the upload the correct file size shows but a bit later(within minutes) they all show 0 KB again. I have not seen this type of behavior on an HD before. Additionally, I added some 20 mp3 files to the FTP site, same thing happened but then I zipped up the 20 mp3 files and the zip file uploaded with not problems and is still there with its proper file size, of course this is not a solution when I want to play media files on my TV.

Problem I am running into is that the NAT error ends up showing on at least two of the xboxs. Before I added the extra two xboxs for my boys, I didn't have any issues. Had to move stuff around and unplugged stuff now I am having problems. Current connection setup is modem> router> switch. Xbox 1 is wired to switch, NAT type is open. Xbox 2 wireless to router, NAT type is Strict. Xbox 3 wired to switch, NAT type moderate. Xbox 4 wireless to router, NAT type is strict. How do I set up the network and not have NAT errors on the Xboxs. I'm not to overly worried about Xbox 4, currently due that user not having a Xbox Live account.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am unable to see my network media player (wired CAT6 or wireless) using the SAMBA Share feature. My UPNP works fine. I do not have this issue when I am using the Linksys WRT54G or a Netgear WNDR3700 (I returned it to give the E3000 a try) - so I know all my share persmissions and device firewall is turned off. How do I get it to work with the E3000? I want to be able to transfer and stream media files to my media player using SAMBA. Usually my network media player automatically detects SAMBA Servers/Devices and adds it to its list for me to access. But when I use the E3000 that is not the case.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I am on my second HDD with Iomega. I am thinking now that this is a router problem rather than a HDD problem. I have a 1TB Iomega home media network drive, eversince I bought my router and began using it I have been unable to use my HDD. It is hard wired to the router via RJ-45 cable and both units have been reset and powered up in about every order you can imagine. I have reset factory defaults on the router and made security changes to ensure there was nothing blocking that port. I am at wits end. I cannot connect to the HDD and the drive flashes yellow and blue indicating it cannot estabilsh or receive an IP address from the router.

I have opened port 80 and 443 successfully and included the above port range above as well, but when I check it on www.yougetsignal.com the ports 50500-50599 are still closed. I even tried to split the range in two parts, and still no success. I have been in contact with my ISP and confirmed they do not block any ports in the 50500-50599 range and that the cable modem (a Motorola SBV5120) is operating in Bridge Mode.

My network cannot find the printer. I looked at my riuter setup and the MAC Address Clone has two buttons, Enabled Disabled. The Disabled button is clicked on. Accdording to documentation I foudn on this website, it looks like I can Enabled the MAC Address clone button. The document also mentgioend entereding the MAC address for a PC.
If I enable the MAC Address Clone, do I enter the MAC address for the printer or during the install process does the MAC address get installed also
I have a Linksys E2000 router on my home network. The router has the newest version of firmware. Every once in a while, wireless clients on my network become "isolated". Here's an example of what happens. I set up a new wireless printer. I can print to the printer wirelessly from my phone, PC's, etc. all fine after setup. I'm thinking everything is cool!! Well after 2 weeks to 1 month this device will become "isolated" so I cannot print to it; it has an IP address, it can ping its gateway, but i cannot ping it from other devices on the same subnet. I know it's not the printer because if i unplug my E2000 and plug it back in, it works fine.
Another example. I have two windows 7 PC's that are on the same home group and i can share files between them. Sometimes it works and other times it doesnt. I can ping my gateway but they cannot ping each other. I would troubleshoot the issue like crazy from the host end, but the second i unplug my E2000 and plug it back in, BINGO they can talk. Something is wrong with how these routers function with hosts in inter-subnet communications.
I've got the E2000 at home for our private network.
We are three guys sharing a flat. We have personal laptops, work laptops, mobile phones, games consoles, tablets etc that connect to the internet.
Problem is that when someone downloads stuff, the speed is slow for the rest of us. So i was hoping i could set up something like three "channels" so each of us could have the same download speed, ie 1 mbs each regardless if others are using the network at the same time. And then maybe a guest network for all the mobiles and tablets etc. MAC filtering for access for our personal laptops should work.
We have a 20mbit cable network line.
Can i do all of this on the E2000 and how?
I am trying to connect my Linksys E2000 router to my French Sagem modem but the connection is not compatible. Can I buy a cable which is compatible with the connection on a French modem
View 1 Replies View RelatedI switched from Time Capsule with AirPort to E2000 and have a problem with configuration.I use the same IPs as in AirPort and E2000 gives me an error:"The WAN IP address cannot be the same subnet as the Guest Network IP address" and I can't save configuration.But in my opinion they are different.I use "Static IP" option and I have IPs from my ISP: [code] So WAN IP is different subnet as LAN and I don't know what to do now. View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter reinstalling Vista, Vista does not recognize my wireless network. I know that the wireless network is working because my i-Touch and my blue-ray (internet streaming) still are working with the Cisco/Linksys E2000. I made sure that the wireless switch on my Gateway laptop was in the on position. The wireless hardware does not show up in the hardware control panel. Is this a driver issue or a hardware issue? It does not seem that it would be a hardware problem.
My Gateway is still under warranty thru Best Buy. If it's a hardware problem, it's covered but if it's a software problem(I take it that a driver would be software), they want $100 to fix. This is what brings me to a second question, if it's a driver issue, should I just upgrade to Window 7? Does Window 7 have build in drivers for wireless hardware?
I have an E2500 router. When I enter 192.168.1.1 as a web address I am asked for a User name and password. When I do not enter anything for user name and put “admin” in password the screen again asks me for the same two things and eventually goes to a 401 message.
When I enter admin in user name and my secure password to allow devises to connect to the network it lets me in. I thought the password to enter the system settings and the one to enter the network are usually separate. When I open the Cisco Connect program and go into the various menus there my “secure” password is written and visible for anyone who clicks it. Is this how it is supposed to work?Also, how do I occasionally change the password to enter into the network.
How to change or modify the auto generated network key? I am trying to work around but no luck. Is there a way to do this or once you generate a network key it is a default.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a wireless N router (DIR-655) in bridge mode connected to a TWC combo modem/wireless G router. I have Tversity media server running on a computer connected to the TWC, but my PS3 which is connected wirelessly to the TWC combo can't see Tversity. What am I missing? Do I need to forward some port from somewhere? FYI, I'm set-up this way so my N router can deliver full N speed, and my G devices connect to the slower TWC router. Everything sees the internet with no problem. Also, to note that devices connected to the D-link can see Tversity, but devices connected to the TWC cannot see Tversity
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can connect to my router but either way it seems like i can't get any internet access (both wireless and by cable): url...I have tried the steps that the linksys FAQ suggests shall fix this problem, but this has not worked. I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).
