i have a e3000 set up with my network i have guest network set up through the cisco connect but dont see a field to change the guest network broadcast ssid so an ideas?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI haven't found a way to rename the Guest account on my E3000 router. If my router is named HomeRouter the Guest account automatically gets the name HomeRouter-guest. I have disabled the router's SSID broadcast, but it still broadcasts the almost identical Guest account.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed my new Cisco E3000 and configured it over the HTTP interface, as I have on previous routers. I am unable to find any setting for the "Guest" wireless network (outbound internet only), or the Parental controls. Both of these are features of interest, and they're simply not listed in any of the web-based settings.
Puzzled, I did a Factory Reset and configured it via the Cisco Connect instead.. this had the Guest feature and Parental controls, but none of the other features I need, like QOS, or Port Forwarding, or DHCP disable.
It seems like the Web interface only configures some settings, and the Cisco Connect configures other settings, but I can't use them both.
Where does one set up the additional password for Guest access? Other than this, the router works fine on 2.4 & 5 GHz, nice..

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just set up a brand new LinksysE4200 router at one end of my home, and a Linksys RE1000 range expander at the other end in order to provide full WiFi coverage to my entire house. Everything is working great except for one important detail.. There is currently no way to disable SSID broadcast on the RE1000 range expander! I just flashed it with the latest firmware (v1.0.01 build 2, Jul 22, 2011) , but I'm still unable to disable it, even though it is disabled on the E4200 from which it's receiving the signal it's rebroadcasting. I am seriously considering returning the RE1000. Linksys. add the ability to disable SSID broadcast on the RE1000 in a (not too distant) future firmware upgrade! As far as I'm concerend, this is a MUST HAVE feature in order for this product to even be considered for use in any sensitive network environment.

The name of my network shows full signal strength and a lock next to the name but I was under the impression if I have disabled the SSID broadcast it shouldn't show up at all and would force a user to manually input the network name when trying to connect to it. I have the router configured to only allow certain MAC addresses wireless access as well. Don't know why it happens in a sudden and non-stop. After several tries, I found that disabling SSID broadcast for both 2.4 and 5GHz stops the blinking.Of course, before doing that, I upgraded firmware to 1.0.02, reset to factory defaults and finally set up E4200 manually rather than using Cisco Connect. Now the LED light is continuously lit.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my E3000 for almost a year now and it's been great - until recently. Latencies have become patchy for some users and most surprisingly, the 5GHz network has stopped using two channels. I did a 30/30/30 reset on it a few minutes ago and re-configured the whole thing. It's set to use 40MHz Only and WPA2 Personal, but speeds at the physical layer are still just 144 Mbps and in the web interface's Status page it clearly says "20 MHz".
Why might this be? It was fine for so long, only to refuse to use two channels now. I've checked what the other wireless networks in my area are like, and none of them are even 5GHz-capable as far as I can tell, so the relevant spectrum shouldn't be overcrowded. It's rather nice to have the two channels for NAS transfers and streaming and such.
After manually specifying a base channel (48 at the moment), it actually kicks into 40MHz. The problem is now that my clients, both using a WUSB600N, are getting "Unable to connect to (SSID)" pretty much instantly after clicking the network in Windows.
Using Cisco Connest I set up a password for guest access. It will function for a time then suddenly become insecure. Sometimes it will function for a month, sometimes a week. I have to reset the Unit to factory defaults each time and began again.

I was happy about the guest-access feature of E3000 when using the comcast, where I can directly connect my e3000 to the modem (basically you can see two network, one is XXX, the other is XXX-guest). However, the ATT uverse has a gateway that combines the modem and router together, in order to use my e3000 instead of the built-in router of the gateway, I have done a LAN-to-LAN connection and I can access internet without any problem. But in this case, I can not enable my guest-access feature. When I use Cisco Connect to set up e3000, it says "cannot connect to your router". how to set up the guess-access feature of e3000 when using ATT uverse.

Problem:
guest SSID is turned on
password is established
All devices will connect to the guest SSID and the E4200 is assigning an ip address to the device in the 192.168.33.xxx range which is what it's supposed to do.When I open a web browser, I am not automatically redirected to the Cisco Login Page. If I enter 192.168.33.1 as the URL, the login screen is presented. I enter the password I have created in the guest admin page on the wireless guest tab. I then see a blank page and a URL of 192.168.33.1/guestnetwork.asp. THIS IS WHERE I GET STUCK. THE ONLY WAY TO EVER SEE THE LOGIN PAGE AGAIN IS TO REBOOT THE E4200, otherwise you just get unable to connect messages when opening web browsers and the wireless status icon in the system tray shows a yellow exclamation mark.
I successfully connect to the guest SSID but I do not get access to the internet. When I type ipconfig, I see that the DNS is set to 192.168.33.1 which does not exist on my network. I assume there's some internal NAT magic that is supposed to happen in the E4200 to bridge me over to my 192.168.15.xxx network but it doesn't seem to be happening.At the beginning of the call I specifically asked them if the E4200 must be the DHCP server in order for the guest SSID feature to work and they said no. 1.5 hours later they had no answers so they told me that it wasn't working because the E4200 was not the DHCP server. The documentation says nothing about a DHCP requirement for guest AP service. Linksys support further could not answer what you would do if you needed more than one AP with guest service enabled.It seems like this is a firmware issue but it may be the guest SSID service requires the E4200 to also act as the DHCP server. Whether this is a bug or if the router/AP is working as designed?
I cannot find the screen in the interface at 192. Where is this? Please don't say use Cisco Connect disc.

I connected the Router to the modem, and all the wired connected PCs were working perfectly.But then, i went to the setup page to configure the Wireless settings, and as soon I changed the SSID name, the connection internet connection droppedThe only way i had to fix this was by making a Hard Reset.after that, I also tryed changing values and settings from all the configuration tabs, and the wired connection was working properly, but as soon i changed any value from the Wireless tab, the internet connection dropped (even, in the diagnostics section, i could not do a ping to google. When the documentation says that there is a maximum of 10 guest network users allowed (with a default setting of 5) what exactly does that mean ? I don't want the first 10 guest-clients who come in, connect to the guest network, then leave the office to consume all 10 slots for the day.If I have 50 people that come and go from the office throughout the day who connect to the guest 192.168.33.X network and attempt to enter the password (but no more than 10 guests authenticated at any given time) will all 50 be successful in connecting ? Or do I have to reduce the Client Lease Time to something less than the default setting of one day ?
