Linksys Router E2000 - Can't Connect To FTP
Jul 2, 2012
About a month ago I set up FTP on my QNap for the first time. To my surprise I was able to connect to it from an outside network with no further configuration needed. Since then I have had a bit of an issue with firmware. I ended up wiping and upgrading the QNap. Since then I am unable to connect. Some resources are saying the only problem is that I don't have port forwarding set up. I guess my default router settings were already set up to forward the port (I'm not sure how to confirm) because it worked originally, the only thing that changed is my QNap settings. I would like to be able to use it as a FTP, MySQL database, and a few other things. Will I have to do a different configuration for each one?
My network set up is like this: Verizon Router/Modem -> Linksys Router e2000 -> Qnap (ethernet)
I accessed my verizon router and under port forwarding it says "Protocol: FTP, Ports: TCP Any -> 21". NAT is disabled on the Linksys so does that mean I won't have to configure it at all because it is set up in bridged mode as a dummy switch?
What IP should I be using to try to access it remotely?
When I try to connect to my QNap IP I get this in Filezilla:
Status:Connecting to 192.168.1.22:21...
Status:Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
[Code].....

I have a E2000 router that would go out and I would have to unplug and replug in every once in a while. Finally it just stopped working completely. I reset the router and now it won't let me connect. I have followed advice given to soembody else on here and went into router settings and cloned the mac, the IP address was there and reset my security settings. It let me connect to the network but not the internet...

For some reason my new E2000 will not connect to our Charter TV Cable internet service. Another router works fine with same cabling. I have reset EVERYTHING numerous times and cross patched -- hard patched, wireless to where my finers are bleeding. My ISP is DHCP and requires no login. So my router is set to automatically connect. Could the router be defective?

I have tried to connect Comcast to my new E2000 router, with negative results. I did perform the firmware upgrade on the router (to 1.001). My old Netgear WiFi router works fine, so I know the configuration works. For testing purposes I have the following:
MacBook Pro > E2000
Comcast > E2000
Both via Ethernet cable.
I do have access to the E2000 via web based interface. I have tried a variety of configurations, including the use of the "static" configuration using the current Comcast ip, gateway, subnet and DNS that currently exists. I am unable to get the Auto DHCP to work - Comcast ip's do not appear (in the "status" window.)

I have a home and guest network. I set it up about four months ago. No problem! Two weeks ago it would not connect wireless to the internet. The wired connection is fine but it won't do any wireless networking. I tried to reset the router according to the user guide but that didn't work. The software won't recognize the router now so I don't know what to do now.

I've recently started studying for the CCNA exam and one of the first things you learn is the type of cabling required between devices.Basically, I got curious and checked to find that my pc and e2000 router are connected via a straight-through cable even though it's supposed to be that a router and pc share the same pin layout and should be connected via crossover cable. It's the same story with my xbox and ps3 (also wired directly to the router via straight-throughs).

My Xbox 360 will not connect to my Cisco E2000 wireless router. It can find the router, but when the Xbox tests the connection it can’t establish a connection with the router. Ironically when I try to use the guest account it can establish a connection with the router before I run in to trouble.

How do I use Cisco Connect to set up E2000 as a switch and set up wireless connection, when I am using E3000 as my main router that attaches to the modem?. When I use Cisco Connect I seem to only be able to address the E3000 settings through Cisco Connect..

So, I've been having problems with connecting my HTPC to the E2000. I had an old D-link router + USB Wireless N adapter, but after the Dlink died, I bought the E2000, and upgraded to a faster N Adapter. Anyway, connection had been sketchy using the WPA/WPA2 encryption. I turned it off completely, and did get some better wireless speeds. I couldn't leave it open, though, as there are tons of laptops around my apartment that end up connecting to my network. Connecting wirelessly using that particular adapter continued to give problems. Two blackberries plus a Nookcolor connect with no issues (maybe because they're wireless G, who knows).
I then decided to reset the router by simply pressing and holding the reset button as I've done on all my other routers. It did reset, and reboot, but when it came back on, it would no longer connect to the internet. I've connected directly to my modem, and that works fine, but once I connect to the router...nothing. I did a hard reset (30/30/30), and that cleared everything, it seemed. The HTPC now connects easily, but there is still no internet connection. This is proving to be very frustrating.
Is there something I could have done wrong by doing that very first reset? Is there anyway to configure to get back my internet connection?

I have an odd problem where every fortnight to three weeks none of my wifi devices (ipap, laptop, 2x android phones) can connect to my network (Linksys E2000, running firmware 1.0.04 with WPA2 personal). They can all see the network and try and connect, but all fail. Rebooting the router has no effect, and the only thing I've found that works is that I have to connect via ethernet cable (which works no problems) and then disable wireless security, save changes, and then immediately reenable wireless security and save changes again. All my devices then will automatically reconnect no problems. It's a bit annoying as my router isn't ideally placed to dig out the cable, but I wondered if there's any way of diagnosing what could be wrong? I've checked the router logs and they're not useful - the only thing I can see of note is in the DHCP log in the period when I suspect the problem arose I get 4 entries of discover / offer / request / ack going to 255.255.255.255 which seems unusual. But the security log is empty so I get nothing from that.

So, I've had my Linksys E2000 Router for awhile now (not a year old though), and I just discovered a problem with it.Just the other night, not even 8 hours ago, I was playing my 360, everything was fine. I then decided to go to bed, cause it was getting late. Here I am now, I boot my 360 up, and notice that my 360 couldn't connect to Live. At first I thought maybe the cable got unplugged somehow; nope. So I troubleshooted to fiind out that Ethernet Port one no longer works on my router, but switching the cable to port two, my 360 is able to go online.
Does this mean my beloved router, that I paid my hard earned cash for, has decided to start crapping out on me, or is there a fix for this? I take really good care of all my electronics, and my router sits in a spot by itself on my desk with plenty of air space. I have had no issues with this router in the past, until' now. I've always trusted Cisco, and Linksys products, and this really dissapoints me that my router might just be kicking the bucket, at not even a year old. What's the deal Cisco?

We have been unable to connect our PSPs to the new E2000, and after several hours we're ready to throw in the towel and go get a different router! The PSPs only see the "guest" connection when using the scan option, but cannot connect to it. Even after manually adding both the main and the guest info we are STILL unable to connect either of the PSPs We had an older router from your company which we had no issues connecting 6 desktops, a lappy, 2 psp, 2 ds, 2 xbox 360, and a Wii, as well as our smart phones. After this recent "upgrade" to the E2000 the PSPs CANNOT connect no matter what we do. It gives many different error messages.

My 'main' Wifi SSID will just disappear and you can't connect to it. the guest account will still show up. computers/devices that are already connected will stay connected and will work fine, but anybody reconnecting will not be able to. Only solution I've found so far is to unplug and replug in my router

I've just bought an E2000 and I Cisco Connect doesn't run on OSX-Lion, and I was unable to find it on support downloads. But this is only a comment, my concern is that I'm not able to see on main menu how many DHCP clients are connected nor of course to check their traffic. Other routers usually provide at least DHCP clients

I have a new Linksys E2000, I was unable to connect one of my laptops to the internet, so I decided to call support with the problem, after 45min and not results, find out that the E2000 do not support the Atheros AR 5007, they told me that I need to get a new driver for my adapter. Fine but Cisco doesn’t have a Driver update for this problem or how to fix it, or at least send you a link where to get the fix.

Alright, the computer I had cisco connect on crashed. I got a new computer and I'm trying to install Cisco connect using the downloaded version and I can't install it because it requests the password of the router, which i do not know. This is because I've lost the CD copy of Cisco connect. I've tried resetting the router itself by pressing the red reset button

I simply, can't install Cisco Connect. I want to because it has the parental controls and guest SSID controls. When I try to install, the progress bar get's to 25% and then stops - the next screen says "Our Customer Support team can help. Your router was not successfully setup." I reset the modem and have my computer plugged in to port 1 while I try to install the software. I have been able to setup the router manually. It works great. My issue is that I can't install Cisco Connect desktop software for Mac.

I can connect to my router but either way it seems like i can't get any internet access (both wireless and by cable): url...I have tried the steps that the linksys FAQ suggests shall fix this problem, but this has not worked. I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).
