I have also tried typing in my Default Gateway and ip address that I got from cmd/ipconfig and those will not work either..I'm not understanding why this wouldn't work, and yes my internet connection is fine and nothing is wrong with my browser..

I have had it set up before but had to spent an hour with tech support to configure the router. Recently I had to reset the password and lost all the settings.
I can get to logged into the set up with the default password but have no idea how to configure it. No matter what I try I get no conectivity when I try to redirect the browser to the internet.
Yeah, I know I should let our network IT staff set it up, but they get all bent when I want to extend my access to a wireless configuration even if it's password protected.
how to add a WRT54GS V1 wireless router (Router B) into my existing WRT54G V2 Wireless network (Router A). The main router WRT54G V2 router (Router A) is located upstairs and is the link to the ISP (Internet).
- DHCP active
- Wireless MAC filter is enabled with only approved MAC's
- Wireless SID Broadcast is disabled
The secondary Router WRT54GS V1 (Router B) will be located down stairs with no Ethernet cable between the two routers.
- Will need this secondary router to connect to the existing wireless network Router A wirelessly.
- Will need to have internet access.
- Will need to have the wired ports to have internet access as well. Needed to connect the Home A / V receiver to update A / V firmware.

Every time I try to connect to xbox live the only part that fails is the connecting to xbox live part. This is how my network is set up. I have Cox Cable as my ISP, a Linksys WCG200 gateway(v2), and WRT54GS(v7). The cable wire is connected to the WCG200 gateway, then an Ethernet cable connects the gateway to the WRT54GS router, and finally an Ethernet cable connects the router to my xbox 360. I have contacted Cox, Linksys, and Microsoft about the situation and they all say the problem is the version of the router. Someone told me that I may just need to change the firmware, but I don't know how to do that.

My problem is I can't seem to get connectivity on the user end of the router. I can't ping the bridge from an end computer...
DHCP is disabled in the router, but even when manually configuring the IP address on an end computer and using the bridge as a default gateway I can't ping out.
Am I completely misunderstanding the purpose of a NIC bridge?
I currently have a LinkSys BEFSR81 connected to my cable modem as I need at least 6 wired ports for my house network. I also have a WRT54GS that is currently unused, but I would like to add it to the network so I can have some wireless connectivity as well.
Assuming that it's possible, what's the best way to combine these two units into the same network? Can the WRT54GS simply be connected downstream from the BEFSR81 via one of the open ports? I'm assuming that I'll have to change the IP address on the wireless unit to make it individually accessible for configuration, status checking, etc.
I have a linksys system WRT54G at home. I had no problems with the Linksys router until about a month ago when I decided to make it a secure network. I run three computers of the wireless router (1 desktp and 2 laptops) Since making the wireless network secure I can not connect with my business laptop IBM Thinkpad X40, but thother e computers work just fine.

My laptop, my tablet, amd my xbox cannot connect. On my laptop, it cannot even find a connection available, even when I'm in the same room as the router. View 11 Replies View RelatedI had an XP machine using a wired connection with a Linksys WRT54GS 2.4GHz router. The only things connecting to it wireless were my wii and my PS3 which were in the next room, less than 15feet away. I purchased a Windows 7 machine for my wife for Christmas, and gave the XP machine to my kids. I moved the modem and router into the kids playroom, and set the Windows 7 machine up for wireless. Now the router is at one end of the house, and the 7 machine is about 45 feet away. The signal strength was never an issue until last week, and now the PS3 and the Win7 machine constantly have weak signal or no signal. I don't know a whole lot about networking. I am willing to move the router and modem to a central location as a last resort, but would like to keep them with the XP machine for our kids to use.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Gateway MX6124 laptop. I used the System Recover disk that came with the machine. After a complete reinstall (twice), the wireless feature is not found. There is an idicator light that goes on and off when using the F2 key.
There is no Windows Mobility Center choice from the start menu. Needless to say, there is no wireless icon to access and trouble shoot. It's like the wireless is turned off even though the blue light is on.

Without the switch, I can connect wired and wirelessly to my WRT54GS. However, when I put connect my any port of my D link switch to ports 1 - 5 of WRT54GS, I loose internet all together either wired/wireless to the router or wired to the D-link switch.I wonder why the IP Address will change as I understand that the switch is just a pass through switch.
