Home Network :: Unauthorized Name And Password Change?
Nov 1, 2012
In short, I had the following problem in the past but it solved itself when people physically left the area. Now they are back, the problem is occurring and this time I have as many router settings as I can find to maybe aid in the solution. This is the problem:We have a wireless network where the physical equipment is not available to users and yet, the local network name and password continues to be changed wirelessly FROM say, "ABC network" with network password "ABC secret password" to "Jimmy's Network" and network password "some new string of letters and numbers". (we know who Jimmy is but will not approach him until we learn if this situation is inadvertent on his part or more purposeful, which we doubt as of now)Cisco Lynksys Wireless-N Home Router WRT120N[CODE]

Simply put, a wireless network was set up with a network name and password in a senior community of primarily beginner users. Recently the name and password became changed to that of a community member named, let's say, "Joe". After addressing the router several times to change things back - only to find that the network name reverted to Joe - I changed the router password from admin to a unique pw and I confirmed that Remote Management was off. Next day... it was Joe again

I play a game via gameranger, and i want to change my ip address. the replays for this game retain the ip of each player, so that is how it is traced. I have used various ip changers, however they only work properly when i am the host of the game. How to keep my ip protected 100% of the time, rather then only when i am hosting?

Had to reset out DIR-655 router. This ended up changing our network password. Unfortunately, my DAP-1522 was not informed of this change and it will not connect to my Directv receiver now. I attempted to log into the bridge to change the password and it will not let me in. I attempted to reset the DAP in hopes that I would just be able to start over from scratch, but no dice (Assuming that I did it correctly)

I have an established wireless network, using a wired Dell desktop (XP), wireless HP G70-250US notebook (Vista), wireless HP Officejet 650 E709n printer, and Belkin N600 router. To make a long story shorter, both my cable company and Belkin were involved to set up the router a few months ago, and I was assigned an SSID and password that I now want to change. I've received emails from Belkin on changing it at the router - but when it comes to my notebook computer, how to establish a network - I'd like to know how to change the SSID and password in an already-established network, once I've made changes with the router. I'm assuming this is possible? It is my understanding that I don't need to make any changes with my wired desktop, other than to use it when making the router changes? I'm a little familiar with the network configuration setting process with my printer, so am pretty sure I can handle that.

I have an E2500 router. When I enter 192.168.1.1 as a web address I am asked for a User name and password. When I do not enter anything for user name and put “admin” in password the screen again asks me for the same two things and eventually goes to a 401 message.
When I enter admin in user name and my secure password to allow devises to connect to the network it lets me in. I thought the password to enter the system settings and the one to enter the network are usually separate. When I open the Cisco Connect program and go into the various menus there my “secure” password is written and visible for anyone who clicks it. Is this how it is supposed to work? Also, how do I occasionally change the password to enter into the network.

I have 2 windows 7 laptops running wireless and a windows xp desktop connected by wire to linksys router. The desktop has no problems accessing the other computers. One laptop has no problem accessing the other computers on the network. The other laptop has trouble with the windows XP machine. It asks for login info, which there is none. I tested with the laptop wired and it seemed to access it normally. Also, it is not consistant. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I have gone through other posts and made sure that password requirement was off

I've been through pages and pages of Google and Bing searches, and I've found plenty who have this issue, but none who seem to get it solved. Three computers, all running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, are members of a Homegroup that functioned perfectly for more than a year until Tuesday of this week. On Tuesday, I installed Windows updates and also updated from Norton 360 v5 to v6.Computer A and B don't have password protected logins to Windows; Computer C is password protected. Until Tuesday, A and B have never been required to enter a password to access shared files and folders on C. Computer A still communicates fine in both directions with B and C, without having to enter C's Windows login credentials. B can be accessed by C, but when B attempts to access the C libraries that are shared by C to the Homegroup, the appropriate shared folders are shown (Documents, Pictures, etc.), but instead of their usual icons, the icons look like this: url... and if I try to click on them, I am prompted for a Network Password like this: url... The name following "Enter your network password to connect to:" is the name of C, and the "Domain" shown below the password block is the name of B. (Domains aren't even possible with Home Premium, are they?)
If I enter C's username and password I can access C from B, but upon rebooting B it starts all over again, even if I click "Remember my credentials." Sometimes I don't get the prompt and instead am told that I don't have permission to view

we have Cisco 6509 as a access switch in our network. Each user has an IP phone and a computer. we are going to implement 802.1X for end users by next month. I need to check all the users activity in the network like if someone plug an access point to the network or a router.I just checked Cisco NAC and how to detect those activities on the network.
I need to get more details on Cisco NAC or other products for that purpose. also what is the difference between Cisco NAC and application like Microsoft TMG?
is it agent less or I have to install something on computers? is it working as a default router for users computers?

I have a media player on my home network, which consists of 3 desktop pcs (1 xp home, 1 win 7 home p, and 1 win 8 pro) and 2 nas boxes. Nothing is wireless, all cabled. All pcs can talk to each other and the nas boxes, all have internet access.Problem is when I try to access pc files with my media player. It can access the nas boxes and the xp pc fine, but when i attempt the win 7 or 8 pcs it asks for ausername/password. The win 8 pc has both, but the media player wont accept them, and the win 7 pc has never had a password. I tried putting a password on the win 7 pc, but the media player rejects the user and pw.

I just bought a Netgear Router WNR 2000 v3 and installed it. I got inside the router and could set up a Network Name and security key. However, I can not access the internet when I chose a security password using WPA 2, WPA-PSK + WPA 2 PSK, or WPA/WPA 2. It only accesses the internet when I chose None.( no secured ).At this time, my network is unsecured because there isn't way I can access the internet when I create a security key using the 3 options the router offers.
Note : I have tried the 3 security options creating a key number and my computer connect to the wireless network but don't access the internet. It only access the internet when I select None ( no secured )
