How to get rid of Username Password prompt for VPN user connecting to computer with guest access on shared folders?If a VPN user types any word in the user name and hits enter without password, it gets in and sees shared folders, but I want this prompt to be disabled.
View 1 RepliesI have a user that is trying to save an excel speadsheet that is located in a shared folder on a server, the user can open the file and edit ok but when they try to save the file the progress bar pops up but just hangs then a message pops up to saying "file not saved". They are using Windows 7.The user is new and I have just set up their account so thought it might be permission issues but I have logged the user in on two other different machines (1 win7 and 1 WinXP) and they have no problem at all.

Today when I tried to access one network folder, I could not access it. I was getting the message "computer name\folder name is not accessible, you might not have permission to use this network resource".Then I went to the host computer and changed the permission to "everyone" but still I'm getting the same message.

The problem we are experiencing is when a folder is created by user A, it cannot be moved by user B (and vice versa), as it says the folder is in use.The exact error is: Error Moving File or Folder.Cannot move <filename>: Access is denied.Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.I have explicitly set full control for both users on the folder. The drive has 70GB of 500GB remaining. I have also used File Server Management to verify the files were not in use when they were being moved.The server is Windows 2003, SP2. Domain environment, with all relevant users having permissions on the folder, and the everyone account removed. Any other operation inside the shared folder works fine.

We want the documents folders of both computers to be synchronized and to that end we want to share the folders between each computer. However, to do so we will have to connect the laptop to the larger network in our office. Given the sensitive nature of the documents we only want the desktop PC and the laptop to be able to access these files and synchronize them.
Is there anyway in Windows 7 to specify exactly which computers are allowed access to shared folders on a computer? What's the best way to achieve the file synchronization between the two?
I have a computer with some shared files on that I my LAN can access. However this is only on the immediate LAN The computers then all go in to a router which has NAT enabled and connects to the rest of the work network. I have opened up port 135 through 139 both UDP and TCP etc How can I add this folder as a network share on the computers outside of NAT (it even has a web address pointing to it that works for the web file server)

Yet when i try and access the folder from My Computer, it tells me that it is not accessible and that access is denied.Ive done the same for every other user who should have access, with no problems.
Ive also looked at parent permissions and inheriting and have found no reason for this.
I have 6 computers here at the office, 5 of which are on XP Pro SP3 and the my main computer running Win 7 Pro SP1. Well 3 of the 5 XP machines can access a shared folder on the 7 machine 1 of the other XP machines can see the 7 computer on the network but can not access the shared folder and the final XP machine can not see the 7 computer at all

At home from the laptop I can access a shared folder on the desktop with no problem
I tried to enable the access to the shared folder over the internet while the laptop away from home, by implementing a VPN. I have successfully managed to configure a VPN IPSec between home router DrayTek 2820Vn that acting as VPN server, and the laptop that has TheGreenBow VPN client.
Through VPN tunnel laptop can ping the ip address for the router and the ip address for home printer and the ip address for home desktop , all of those are located at the other end of the VPN tunnel.
And I can access the web interface for the router as well by typing its private ip address. On the laptop and through the VPN tunnel I tried to map the shard folder on the desktop (\desktopipaddressSharedFolderName) , but it didn't work!!!.
when I existed Kaspersky on the desktop , I was able ping the desktop and to map the shared folder which is hosted on the desktop
How can I configure Kaspersky to let the the shared folder to be mapped via VPN ?
I am having difficulty getting my HP Officejet Pro 8500(A910) configured to save digital faxes to my Iomega 2TB Home Media Sever (cloud edition). My home network is setup through a Linksys E4200.I was able to successfully configure it to save to a folder on my PC, but I do not want to leave it running 24/7.I believe the breakdown is in the Authentication part of the setup... It asks for the Windows username and password, which works fine for the PC setup but not for anywhere else. Do I use the UN & PW for the home media server if I'm saving to one of its folders? If so, how do I correctly type the path? It is communicating with the folder and leaving an alphanumeric file saved inside the folder when I use the 'save and test' option, but it breaks down from there.

Both work fine, very easy to set up, however I am unable to edit settings for the shared folder, which means I am unable to password protect it.
I don't need a password for local sharing but obviously it isn't ideal to have files freely available on the Internet, have looked into troubleshooting but can't find any similar stories with Netgears.I click "edit" or "create network folder" and it loads for a second or two but just stays on the same page. I have created a share (entire partition) on my external hard drive, which is connected to my E4200 router. I have gone into Advanced and messed around with permissions, taking out Everyone, using Admin only, using Network. At one point I ended up not being able to access My Documents on the local computer and had to jump through many hoops to change ownership and disable read only so that the user could use her own files!The problem is, under Advanced in the permissions area, I cannot see the users on the remote pc to choose which one should be allowed access. how to actually find a particular user on the Win 7 pc and give ONLY that user permission to read (not to change) the files in My Documents on the XP pc.

I would like to setup certificate enrollment between a Windows Server 2008 R2 and a Cisco ASA 5510. Here are the commands that I use for the Cisco ASA 5510:

Everything works as expected until I try to enroll. There is no prompt for the enrollment password and the certificate request is denied.

Why isn't there a prompt for the enrollment password?BTW, If I set "enforcepassword" to "0" in the Windows registry, then it works.
I know a little bit about computers but I am having problems trying to connect to the internet that I cannot figure out. I connected the Ethernet cable to the back, it lit up, but it still says Local area connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration.
