Cisco Wireless :: Setup A 2504 To Have One Guest WLAN And One Staff WLAN?
Jun 10, 2013I would like to setup a 2504 to have one Guest WLAN and one Staff WLAN with a controller port for each WLAN connected to different devices.
I would prefer to connect the WLC Guest port to an ASA 5510 and the WLC Staff port to an internal 2960S switch. Will this work? I haven't setup a 2500 series controller previously.

Aug 29, 2012I've problem with a WLC 2504. Some Clients like phones and Thin Clients get an IP 0.0.0.0.Software Version is 7.0.235.0. Test with a Laptop seams to be OK. Some printers also got an 0.0.0.0.Around 30% are not OK. also had the log: Impersonation of AP with Base Radio MAC 00:yy:yy:yy:yy:yyusing source address of 00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx has been detected by the AP with MAC Address: 00:yy:yy:yy:yy:yy on its 802.11b/g radio whose slot ID is 0 The problem is, I cannot go to 7.2 version because I have 2 x AP 1231 and 2 x 1242 AP's.1231 AP's are not anymore supported in 7.2 Version.

Cisco Wireless :: 2504 Client Unable To Get IP Address On Guest Wlan
Feb 23, 2013I recently setup a 2504 WLC that has two primary WLANs (internal and guest) which get their IP addresses from a central DHCP server using the local router's broadcast forwarding. Things seem to be working well for the internal wlan, but clients on the guest wlan don't seem to be getting IP addresses. If I give the client a static IP they are able to communicate across the wlan okay.
It is worth noting that I am using LAG between the controller and router and this guest wlan is really just a regular wlan (with PSK) that has an access-list applied to force it to the internet only. The access-list should be allowing dhcp requests through, but in any case, I removed the access-list and it made no difference.
Here is a debug client for a machine connected to the guest vlan (vlan 33). The internal wlan is on the 10.10.10.0/24 network (same as wired and same that the AP's are connected to) and the guest wlan is 10.33.0.0/16. I don't understand why I am seeing the dhcp request come from the internal vlan/ wlan first and it gets an IP address on this network. I then see a request on the guest wlan/vlan at which point it appears to get a valid IP address on the guest network (10.33.0.0), but the client never sees this. [code]

Sep 19, 2012My customer has multiple sites, each with a 2504 WLC.A data center with a 5508 in the DMZ acting as Anchor for the remote sites.ACS 5.x and NCS Prime.All guest users will egress to the internet via a Vlan in the DMZ.Authentication is currently web-auth on the Anchor, but will move to NCS once that is fully deployed.
Is it possible to put a printer in each site for Guest WLAN users to use?
Cisco Wireless :: How To Associate WLAN Clients With 802.1x
Sep 17, 2012we have the following situation:
- 2 x WLC 5508 with about 80 - 120 access points (Aironet 3500) each
- 7 x WLAN's with different security settings
- 2 x ACS 5.3
On one WLAN we have the problem, that the students with their own laptops have to enter their AD username about 4-5 time, until they get a successfull 802.1x authentication. The WLAN has the following configuration:
- Hidden SSID
- Only 802.11b/g
- Interface assigned via AP Groups
- WPA2 / AES with 802.1x or CCKM (here I could only allow 802.1x, the clients do not need fast secure roaming)
- Authentication via ACS 5.3 and PEAP

Most of the time I can't see any 802.1x authentication attemps on the ACS View, but when there are entries, they are successfull. So in my opinion I think there has to be a problem on WLC side, but I don't know where to search further. We already deactivated the client load balancing in the WLAN, because at the beginning the customer wanted to activate that - but it was clear that there are a lot of clients which had to authenticate multiple times.I know there were some bugs in the 7.0 train, so I upgraded finaly to 7.0.235.0 to overcome this bug here: CSCty07036.To fix the other bug (CSCtt70290) I just disabled all the session timeouts on the different WLAN's.

Oct 31, 2011we have a 4510r-e running 12.2(50)SG1 w/ various rj45 line cards and a 24 port glc card.at any given time, i see 10's of ports in 10/full.i go to the station, and find the station in 100/full or 1000/full.
i go to the switch w/ my fluke, connect it directly to the switch w/o any intermediate infrastructure except a 50cm cat6 patch cable.the fluke reports 1000/full, but THE SWITCH PORT REPORTS STILL 10/FULL.all ports are config'd 'speed auto' and 'duplex auto'.
the switch seems to be erroneously reporting 10/full.there are no errors logged on any of the ports and there is successful communications even when the station and switch port report different speeds.even though there are no errors logged nor reported by 'show int [port]' nor 'sho int count error' certain killer applications crash on some stations. (the applications are GHOST (which dumps disk images from a server to multiple stations) and NETOP (which i sused in a classroom to transmit an instructors screen to a room full of stations) both of which broadcast and/or multicast.all nodes involved in the above 2 applics are on the same vlan and same phyiscal subnet.
the ports which report 10/full vary and occur even when the above applics are not in use.the only way i found to clear this 10/full report is by either a hardware reset of the entire module or by unplugging the cable, the execute on the port shutdown, speed auto, no shutdown, reconnect cable.then it's just a matter of time until it pops back to 10/full in a few minutes,hours or days.

I recently purchased an TL-WDR3600. Setup was easy. Both wlan channels work perfectly. All clients can connect to the internet and access my lan connected NAS. I have some wlan devices which needs to be connected sometimes by http: port 80 and also by telnet or ssh. I can connect from a wlan device to a lan device. But NOT from a wlan to wlan or a lan to wlan. I allready diabled WMM and tried some other wlan settings, like disable one channel, changing the channel width etc.
My setup is : ADSL device -->(192.168.1.X dhcp) WAN TL-WDR3600 --> to LAN&WLAN (192.168.0.X dhcp and some LAN connected with static 0.200, 0.210)

May 28, 2013I have a WLC 2504(code 7.0.235) installed and two AP 3502 (local mode). RADIUS Server is a IAS runnning on my AD server.
I had a domestic AP before Cisco solution, using the same RADIUS server and everything was ok. After migration Windows 7 domain clients and Apple devices connects without issue. However when I try to connect non-domain windows 7 clients into wireless network (802.1X) and got failure. Apple devices out of domain can connect, certificate pop-up appears and connection flows.
I check certificates and everything looks ok for me. I remove a windows 7 client from domain and test it too, an got the same error. Certificate are install on windows 7 clients.
Could Cisco controller interfering in this authentication process ?

Jul 4, 2012I have Cisco WLC 2504.I was configured one wlan with external web-authentication.External web server is apache on freebsd.When user connect to wlan and open web browser, wlc redirects client to external web page, where client must input hist credentials.When client click "submit" button on external web auth page, wlc initiates RADIUS request to radius server.Radius server(freeradius) is on the same server, where apache running.
sometimes, when client enter credentials on external page and click "submit" button, wlc suddenly redirect client on internal default auth page.
Cisco :: 4402 WLAN Controller - New Clients Not Getting IP?
Jan 14, 2013Recently (within the past 2 months) I've been having some issues with my 4402 wLAN controller.
The issue is thus:
1) New wireless clients (those without exsisting DHCP leases) are unable to properly connect to our wireless network.
2) Those same systems (and other systems) have no issue getting online via a wired connection (where available).
3) Devices like iPad, tablets, laptops partially connect but do not get a valid IP address.
Our config:
1) DHCP is handled by a seperate server (NOT the 4402 - it's DHCP setting is disabled)
2) Our wLan is not on a seperate network than our wired LAN
3) Wireless devices attempting to connect include iPads and laptops mostly.
4) We're a school with about 300 systems (primarily Windows XP machines).
5) 25 access points controlled by the 4402 (our only wLAN controller)
Important Notes:
1) No configuration changes have been made to DHCP or the 4402 device in a couple years.
2) 4402 Software Version = 4.0.217.0
The problem first showed up a bit over a month ago. I first thought the issue was DHCP server related , so I started there and didn't find any obvious issues. I did restart the DHCP server (which at that point had an uptime of somewhere over 700 days).
I then also checked the web interface of the 4402 to see what it was reporting. I noticed a somthing:A) As shown in the "WLAN_Issue_EDIT.png" the client count on the controller is showing 628 current clients. We don't have many devices in our entire campus.
I rebooted the controller after hours and that seemed to allievete the issue. Since then, the current client count hasn't ever gone above 60.
Now today I'm having the same issue regarding new clients getting IP addresses. The client count isn't real high on the WLAN controller and I don't see any other obvious issues. I'm torn between this being a DHCP issue or the controller issue (or a combination of the two).
The reason I don't think it's directly DHCP related is that all wired clients seem to be getting address fine.Plus, I've set my tablet device to a static address and it still cannot connect via wifi.
**Update** I've now rebooted the controller and the problem persists (at least on the nearby iPad - Will confirm other devices shortly).

I do not have an identity management system like ISE. My controllers are WISM2 and I use 3502 APs.

Dec 15, 2011I am struggling with the following issue. I have 6 1130 Accesspoints in lightweight mode connected to a 2106 wlan controller which runs software version 7.0.98.0. Everything seems to work fine. Clients can connect to the wifi network. However, they don't get an ip address from the dhcp server which is on the same subnet as the wlan controller. See attached screenshots for configuration. I have also tried the internal dhcp server of the wlan controller, but the same problem remains.
The logs says: Dropping primary discovery request from AP e8:b7:4x:xx:xx:xx - maximum APs joined 6/6 There are 6 AP's connected

If i do a speed check using CNET internet speed test, from both a desktop (wired 1gb card) and any laptop in the house (all draft n 2.4 or 5.0), it ranges anywhere from 3 meg to 4.3 meg. I have 6 cat-e ethernet cords everywhere. I do have 2 switches but have tried to unplug those to see if any difference

Oct 24, 2011We are running WCS 7.0.1 and ACS 4.2 using TACACS for our techs to login to WCS (to manage access points). However, when the tech trys to run reports, they get an error:
Permissions Denied
The user is setup in Active Directory and not in WCS. I saw something about adding the user to a group in WCS but again the user is setup in AD. Is there something we need to do in ACS? Not sure what do do.

Cisco VPN :: 5520 / 5510 - Can VPN Clients Communicate With Other Dynamic Clients
Nov 5, 2012We currently have an ASA 5520 communicating with 10 ASA 5510's, all on static outside addresses. I was asked to add 5 additional 5510's on dynamic address. All worked well in testing until it was decided that some of the dynamic clients needed to talk to each other.
My testing shows packets just dying in the 5520.
Cisco Wireless :: 1252 - WCS Reports AP Draws Low Power - With Correct Power Injector
Jul 21, 2011I keep getting alerts from our WCS stating that our 1252s are drawing low power. Now I am aware that they require enhanced PoE (up to 20W) but as we only have standard PoE in that building we purchased the 1252 series power injectors to go with them.
However, even with the correct power injectors the WCS still reports the draws low power error.
Is this a bug? Running WCS 7.0.172 at the moment.
Forgot to say we are using the PWR-INJ4 and the injector status is enabled and you see the injector MAC address when you drill in to the AP status.
Cisco :: LMS 4.0.1 DFM Reports No Devices
Aug 9, 2011Have a problem with LMS 4.0.1 and DFM. In DFM no of the devices leaves the questioned state. Trying to rediscover them starts a process that ends after 20% completion every time. I've put on some debuging, but that does not enable more error messages.Only thing i find is in the log file [code] As I've encoded this to be the SNMP engine ID, which on the device is. [code]

Jun 7, 2012We have CPU reports set to run daily for some of our higher priority switches, and we've noticed that some of the data isn't meshing with what we see on the switch. We have one heavily utilized switch that reports near 100% CPU utilization sometimes. I can do a "show proc cpu history" on that switch and see that at least once an hour over 72 hours, we'll see a near 100% CPU utilization.
The problem is that these spikes never appeare on any of our reports. We'd like to see this info because even if the switch spikes for just a few seconds or a minute, it could still indicate that we may have issues. Without that in the report, we may never realize there could be a problem.
Is there a way for this info to show in the report? I'm under the impression that if LMS polls the switch and doesn't see a high utilization average, then maybe it doesnt' enter that in the report. I guess I'd just like to know how often it pulls this data, and how it decides wath the Min, Max, and Averages are.

Jul 2, 2012I have modified my radius accounting reports using "interactive viewer" and saved successfully but the exported report doesn't reflect these changes. I'm just wondering what's the point of being able to modify the reports if you can't export your changes or there is something I'm missing?

May 1, 2012We use LMS 3.2 with the latest patches. In IPM we have a couple of collectors (availabilty latency etc) and reports for our customers.
The polling interval for all collectors are working hour 7:30 - 18:00 Mo - Fr.
Unfortunately the polling detail is not included in the PDF report. Is there a way to include this information in the report.
