View 4 Replies View RelatedI have one AP541N and need to extend the wireless network with a second wireless AP. Which models of AP can I use with the AP541N to achieve a 'cluster', please? Is it just with a second AP541N or can I use other Cisco APs to achieve the cluster?
Am I correct in thinking that doing this will allow wireless clients to 'roam' seamlessly between the two APs?
I just set up a new 541n WAP and am having trouble getting it to connect to my network. I set it up with a static IP and have triple checked the settings.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have got 3 Cisco APs 541N with firmware version 9.2.2 and want to set up the cluster function for those APs.Here is the problem:Before enabling the cluster you can ping all three APs located in the same local network with a delay of 1ms or below. If the cluster is enabled the pings for one AP rise above 200 ms in a random way (see attached file). Moreover users connected to that AP are more likely to lose the connection or experience delay.Do the APs communicate through LAN or WLAN ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a couple of these WAPs and also purchases some PoE injectors to connect them. The PoE injectors supply them with power, but not networking. I've tried multiple injectors and verified they are not defective. Is there any type of setting that needs to be adjusted to make this work? If I power them using traditional methods they work fine. Here's a link to the PoE injectors that I'm using: URL

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 4 Cisco AP541N access points in a a cluster, and everything has been working great. We have been directed by our parent company to change our wireless to utilize RADIUS authentication with our wireless. I have been able to take an AP541N as a standalone (not clustered) and configure it to their standards, configure the 2 RADIUS servers they use with the RADIUS keys I was given for this access point, and everything works great with it. I was able to get them to setup their RADIUS server (which I have no access to) to allow authentication from the 3 other access points now, but they all have different RADIUS keys. I'm finding that when they are clustered they all seem to share the same RADIUS key, but I need them to have different ones.
So the question is, can I cluster 4 AP541N access points together, but allow each one to have it's own unique RADIUS key?
If not, then I think I'll either need to get the RADIUS admins to make them all the same key (which is not likely), or I'll have to uncluster them.
My company has a lot of thier business relying on the wireless network and I am trying to reduce the single points of failulre in my network infrastructure. We have a single Cisco 2112 controller with 10 AP's that I am wondering if it's possible to cluster this with another controller for redundancy purposes?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a cluster of 5 AP541Ns. I accidentally started the auto update of IP addresses based on reduction of interference, and it changed the wireless channels on all of the APs. I disabled it, but he channel settings did not change. Now if I remember correctly, before making this setting, they were all on the same channel, 6. Should they all be on the same channel? If so what setting or procedur do I have to do to get them all back on the same channel? (do I have to manually set the channel?)

When we originally deployed our Cisco Prime NCS and MSE Virtual Appliances, the VMsphere server they were on was not able to assign us the level of resources we requested. We installed the MSE as "LOW" system due to the memory and CPU requirements. It has a 2000 CAS element limit. At the time we were licensed for 1000, so no huge problem.
Now, we purchased a Cisco UCS C240 server to run our Prime NCS and MSE on, which gives us our own environment where we have plenty of resources. I also bought 6000 CAS element licensing.
The catch is, how can I either do a fresh install, using the same UID, on our new UCS server, so that our licensing is still valid when we move the box, or, is it possible to do some sort of platform reinstall or upgrade after moving our original MSE VM guest over to the UCS server? Sadly, I can't even utilize the additional 1000 CAS element licensing at this time because it won't allow me to add the 6000 license and use only 2000, on the LOW appliance. So I've got to get these VM guests moved, but maintain any UID's so that the licensing still works.
Is it possible to disconnect the licensing we have, from the UID, and move it to a different UID?
I have an odd problem with the FTP server. I currently hooked up a 250GB portable HDD which is formatted in NTFS. A single folder in the root of the drive is mounted as the FTP server. Every time I upload a zip or far, the file comes out ends up being uploaded corrupt and double the original file size. I have used 2 FTP clients, using either ASCII or binary. No matter how I go about it, I can't make the files upload at the normal file size. Its not just archives, however, I tried an mp3 and it too got uploaded corrupt and double the size. I then downloaded the mp3 to try and play it but it didn't play in windows media player. However I loaded the 'corrupt mp3 into audacity and the file played like normal.

We have swapped the gig nic's and the sfp's and the fiber patch cables, yet still the crc errors continue to climb.
Another thing that's interesting is that when we disconnect the secondary we see an increase in throughput.
a customer have 2 pix 525 with ver 7.0.1 in a failover configuration with serial cable and 2 sc fiber interface and 2 fastethernet 1 used for failover. the strange behaviour is that when i try to do traffic from inside to dmz or dmz to inside the maximum transfer is 862Kb/s to 1MB/s not more.... i don't understand what's happened. the show mem and show cpu are normal 7% mem used and 1-2% cpu used. attached you will find the configuration.

Is it possible to build just one IPsec/GRE tunnel to the entire switch cluster or will I have to build an independent tunnel for each switch? I'm pretty sure you can't terminate GRE to an HSRP address, and I think that's the only way to build routing redundancy into a switch cluster.

I have a 3750 cluster and I want to know what are the recommended snmp traps to be sent. We definitely want to know when one of the switches in the cluster fails.
I've read about snmp-server enable traps stackwise and snmp-server enable traps cluster. What do these traps actually do?
We have two Web Servers and configured as Network Load Balancing in a cluster for failover.
WEB1 IP: 192.168.1.50
WEB2 IP: 192.168.1.51
Both configured with Cluster IP: 192.168.1.100 on Multicast mode.
TEST ON LAB USING ORDINARY 10/100 UNMANAGED SWITCH I can ping all the IP addresses on the LAN and when I http://192.168.1.110 on any PC on the LAN works no problem.
TEST ON PRODUCTION USING CISCO SG200 50/50 PORT SWITCH I can ping all the IP addresse on the LAN and when I http://192.168.1.110 on a different machine i did not work, but on the server itself will work as expected.
NOTE: Both tests are on LAN only.
I wonder if this is something to do with the switch because of Cluster IP MAC address. Do I need to configure something on the switch?
Just looking for some good reasons why I should upgrade a Cisco PIX 515e cluster to an ASA Cluster to present to the business.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have the following setup on our Cisco ASA version 8.6.1 One to one NAT rule from outside to our Exchange 2010 cluster IP address (DAG group). This is working fine for clients on the internet accessing their emails via Exchange using their phones. The ASA has the MAC address of the active node from the cluster but when the cluster failover it cache the IP address and are not updating the new MAC when the cluster failover. So users from the outside are unable to connect to the new node from outside the ASA as the MAC address from the passive node is in the MAC table. The MAC address on all the switches update within 2 seconds on the internal network and users don't notice any outage.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am looking to cluster the aforementioned switches using the CLI. All the documentation that I have found all speak to performing the cluster configuration using CMS. I can only get to these switches via remote console so a GUI is out of the question for me. My ultimate goal is to configure these (2) switches for HSRP. Howver, everything that I found leads me to believe that I have to cluster in order to confiure the HSRP on these switches.

I have 2 x 5 extra licenses (2 x ASA5500-SC-5) which I haven't applied yet - will this give me a total of 10 or 14 security contextes? I am a bit in doubt because if I only get 10 sec contextes in this cluster then could I instead get a single 10 security context license (1 x ASA5500-SC-10) and add this - hereby I would get 12 then.

I have two 7206 VXR routers with the VPN Service Adapter either side of a leased line (i.e. no provider between, pure layer two connectivity)A requirement is that traffic traversing the link is encrypted so I've configured an IPSec VPN between the two endpoints.During load testing we noticed a very severe performance hit when the VPN was enabled, disabling it again saw we were able to use almost 100% of the 1000Mbs line. The performance hit looks to be due to the increased MTU size when using IPSec, possible due to fragmentation.
I've read that the 7206 VXR can support 980Mbs (or there abouts) of throughput using AES providing the MTU size is 1400.Configuring this manually on each server in each data centre isn't feasible. As the link is effectively a point to point and we have control over the MTU size between the two routers, what options are available to increase the performance when the VPN is enabled?
