Cisco Wireless :: Etherchannels Flapping / Stacked 3750 To WLC5508?
Feb 18, 2013
We're running two 5508 WLCs running 126.96.36.199 pushing out 7 WLANs. They are both live. Each WLC is connected to the same stack of 3750G running 12.2(44)SE6 via Etherchannels.I'm getting tons of MAC flapping errors similar to this:9373213: Feb 19 10:53:54.564 CST: %SW_MATM-4-MACFLAP_NOTIF: Host 843a.4b3c.4cec in vlan 752 is flapping between port Po12 and port Po11Each portchannel consists of ports on each of the two switches in the 3750 stack. Only VLAN 752 shows the flapping activity. LAG is enabled on the each of the WLCs. The portchannel and interface configs are identical, minus the channel-group command of course.Maybe completely unrelated....looking at CDP neighbors from the switch is incorrect:
WLC1 Gig 2/0/44 157 H AIR-CT550 Gig 0/0/1
WLC1 Gig 1/0/21 157 H AIR-CT550 Gig 0/0/2
WLC1 Gig 1/0/20 157 H AIR-CT550 Gig 0/0/3
Im trying to stack 2 3750E-24PD-S and 2 3750X-12S-S. The 2 3750E finds eachother and stacks with one master as they should. The problem is that and the 3750X does the exact same thing instead of joining the 3750E stack. Both runs the same IOS (c3750e-ipbasek9-mz.122-58.SE2).The stackingcables are connected like following atm (I tried booting up the switches one at a time and all at once, no difference in the result).
I have a 4 member stack of 3750's. We would like to take advantage of wccp and we understand that we will need to upgrade our switch licensing from IPBase to IPServices. My question is do we need to pay for a license for each member in the stack or does one IPServices license upgrade cover the whole stack?
We have two 3750-x stacked switches with IP base license. We need to upgrade them to IP services license. I read some where that it is possible to install IP serivces license to only management switch and no need to purchase/install same license to other switches on the stack. But, I could not find/recall where I read it and as far as I know it was not official cisco documentation.
I was wondering what general steps might be taken in order to "replace two(2) 3750 (stacked) with one (1) 3750X - Server Access". General steps and what I might have to do configuration wise. I know i'm copy pasting the existing configs into the new switch, but are there any caveats?
we are facing issue for unstability of EIGRP neighbor with ISP router. Both router are connected via 3750 switch. There is no misconfiguration or physical media issue.I found the SDM template on the middle switch is desktop default, does this will impact ? [code]
I recently upgraded my network to have two 3750x core, one interface on the Cisco is connecting to a Net gear switch via a fiber converter. I am keep getting the vlan flapping error message in my log as below.
003396: Sep 17 01:46:16.328: %SW_MATM-4-MACFLAP_NOTIF: Host 5c0e.8ba7.0a5c in vlan 2 is flapping between port Gi2/0/15 and port Gi2/0/13 003397: Sep 17 01:46:19.843: %SW_MATM-4-MACFLAP_NOTIF: Host 5c0e.8ba7.0a5c in vlan 2 is flapping between port Gi2/0/15 and port Gi2/0/13 003400: Sep 17 01:49:58.769: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface GigabitEthernet2/0/17, changed state to down [Code] .....
After my research i think this is a looping issue but I'm unsure how to address it.
I have an issue with a Cisco 3750 switch stack which is connected to two seperate upstream Cisco 3750's which are administered by an ISP. The ISP is experiencing MAC address flapping from one of my VLAN SVI's i am using to route traffic upstream
As you can see I utilise a VLAN SVI to route traffic to the upstream 188.8.131.52 (illustration only) IP. As per the diagram of the topology attached, the ISP is receiving a MAC address flapping error confirming the SVI MAC address from my switch stack is being learnt on the trunk port connecting switch 1 and switch 2, and also the port (Gi1/0/48) directly connected to my switch stack. As these are all Layer 2 links essentially being passed upstream and then connected between the two ISP switches, we have a 3 way triangular loop formed.
If I was to remove the port channel configuration from the two ports associated with the VLAN SVI, am i right in suggesting this would still form a layer 2 loop? The two ports would still be a member of the SVI VLAN, and it is the VLAN MAC address which is being learnt by the two ISP switches on different interfaces.
We are designing a LAN Network for ourselves. The proposed design is as follows:
4 x 2960S switches in a Stack Access-Stack-I 4 x 2960S-PoE switches in a second Stack Access-Stack-II
2 x 3750X switches in a Stack Core-Stack
Now I would like to connect it in the following manner ?First,I would like to use EtherChannel using the 10Gig LinksSecondly, I would like to use Cross-Stack EtherChanel too.I have given a graphical illustration of the connectivity Now my Qs: a) Will the 2960S supports EtherChannel using the 10G links and the 3750X too... b) Does the proposed solution will work... or It will have any problems.
what is the maximum number of etherchannels i can build on a Cisco 2960S stack. We hoping to connected 15 servers using 2 port channels between two stacked 2960 for redunancey. So what is the max number of channels can i build using the 2960S? Is the max 6 or is it more?
We are suffering an issue with ASDM 7.1(1) on a 5525-X with 9.1(1) software. In the Configuration --> Interfaces window, I can modify parameters on physical interfaces, I can modify parameter on subinterfaces, but I cannot create new subinterfaces or Etherchannels through ASDM.
When I create a subinterface, entering all parameters, interface name, vlan id, security level, etc., then I click on "Apply" button and nothing happens. It doesn't send anything to ASA. If I click on another window, ASDM ask for applying changes, I click on it, but nothing is applied and window doesn't change. It happens only when creating new interfaces. If I create them through CLI, then I can modify parameters without any problem.
I have tried re-installing java and I have tested with 6.31, 7.9, 7.11, 7.17 Java versions, from Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server and Windows 7 computers with same issue. Also with Linux Mint distro with IcedTea Java.
Currently we have 20 remote sites, each with 2-5 AP's each. They all connect back to our Main Data Site in the US and register on a single WLC5508.
We do not have a backup WLC, but are looking to purchase one. What I would like to know is, are there any problems with the secondary WLC being installed in our Main Data Site in Europe? These two main sites are connected via a 10M MPLS WAN.
So all the remote sites could still connect to the WLC in the US, but in the event of a WLC failure in the US, they would need to fail over to the site in Europe
I'm using WLC5508 /w 7.0..My client do not get its IP. Status shown "DHCP_REQD".I found in (Cisco Live) Troubleshooting Wireless LANs with Centralized Controllers This related with Enable/Disable DHCP Proxy checkbox. I solved. with Enabling this. But,
1) Why this box have been working correctly for longtime? No one did diable/enable this feature on my box.
2) I guest, ver7.0 Disables this chechbox by default. Or not? I also have others two 7.2 boxes. Those are all Enabled.
we have coonection between c3750 and wlc 5508 and it shows that mac address flaps between two interfaces of c3750. [code] two ports are trunking and one port is for management purposes and the other port is for the all other vlans. But it shows that it flaps always. And i think WLC uses one mac address for all device and not for port specific and that causes problem.
I have some problem about dhcp via VMware 7.1. My client connect the wifi and get ip address well, then, i turn on VMware (inside my computer) and set as the bridge mode. I found that my VM cannot get the ip-address from dhcp server and I using WLC5508 version 7.2. I try to connect via Switch, my VM get the ip address well.
looking at doing the site survey before detailed implementation. we plan to use a wlc5508, AP3602, a good tripod/stand, PoE switch and AirMagnet to conduct the site survey. i'm inclined to use a single AP and just a guest SSID and let AirMagnet merge the readings on where i 'locate' the AP (on 1 VLAN)
A customer have a bad coverage in a corner of his branch office. He like to add a mesh AP (MAP) in the near of that corner.
I checked allready the documention about Mesh but i'm not sure if Flexconnect and Mesh works togheter. This MAP is in a branch office and the WLC is in the head quarter therefore he likes to uses Flexconnect togheter with Mesh.
I have a customer who is going to deploy a WLC HA AP SSO setup. I have recommended them to have 4 Gigabit SFP modules in each WLC5508.The customer now asks if it is possible to only have one or two SFP modules in the standby unit ? As he says it is properly not going to go in service one time within the next five years if he is unlucky.
We have five cisco WLC 5508 and one WCS .The WLC is running on 184.108.40.206 version at present but we want to upgrade it to 220.127.116.11 but on cisco site at download location , the below thing is mentioned...
WLC Version 18.104.22.168 will need Prime Infrastructure Version 1.3 to be managed, Version 1.3 is not yet available to download at this point of time
Access Point Model----Cisco 3501i Series
So i want to know, can i upgrade it to this version when we are having the WCS in our network ?
I have setup LAG for one of our 5508 controllers and have connected 4 of the 8 ethernet ports to a 4507 switch. After configuring 2 port channels on the switch we are receiving a host flapping error between the port channels and it seems to be causing a serious slowdown on the switch. When I shutdown one of the port channels the error goes away and traffic returns to normal. I have the same configuration at other locations with the only difference being the switches used are 3750G-12S and I do not see the host flapping error. It appears to only be a problem with modular switches.
One other thing of note: I read a Cisco white paper on LAG and it suggested creating the port channels over 2 different modules. For example, put ports G4/24 and G5/24 in port channel 1 and G4/25 and G5/25 in port channel 2. I tried this but I still got the host flapping error.
In one week I need to import the config from my 4404 WLC to my new 5508, then I just want to change the mgnt IP address of the 5508 and then bring it into the same mobility group. How do I import the config when the 5508 is straight out of the box?
I have WLC 5508 with 6.0 software and kept in main office and 10 sites are connected . I created Group and hreap for the sites AP.Now customer wants the secondary WLC to keep on one another site. And the customer is asking all the configuration like ap group and all should come to secondary wlc automatically . In future also if he create any new group in primary it should come in secondary wlc.And if primary goes down the secondary should controll all the sites and when comes up primary should taken care.Active standbye mode.
I have been asked to setup wireless and we have purchased WLC 5508 and 1142 APs.We have several remote sites and a centralized WLC. The requirement are to have a common SSID (Corporate) advertised across all the remote sites and have that SSID locally switched, and have another two SSID Guest and Mobile tunneled back to the central site (WLC).I want all the wireless (Corporate) clients to use the same subnet as the wired clients at each remote site, the IP assigment will be done by a DHCP server at the central site. The Guest and Mobile users will use a common subnet each across all the site and this will also be handled by the DHCP server at the central site.
I have enabled H-REAP with Centralized Authentication and Local switching but I'm not sure about the second part which is to have a common SSID (Corporate) across the remote sites and localy switched whilst having the other two SSIDs tunneled back to the WLC. Cisco TAC told me to configure dynamic interfaces for each of the remote site but then he said I still wouldn't be able to switch the Corporate traffic localy if I use a different subnet to the wired subnet for the wireless clients.
My problem ist that i have 4 air-cap-1552e APs witch are powerde trugh Power Injectors. They worked fine for a few days but then the controller (22.214.171.124) lose connection to them. Right now i have only one Joined AP. The other 3 are status not joined. I can Ping all 4 Aps and wifi clients are connected through them.
I tried to implement WLC5508 in my network but when I came to connect it to the switch core which is a Catalyst 4000 the link didn't get up. This switch module is a fastethernet, I wonder if that might be the problem since I also tried connecting my laptop to the WLC and the link got up.
If that might be the cause, is it possible to get WLC to 100 Mbps?
