USB Wireless Adapter Does Not Detect Specific Network
Dec 22, 2012My USB wireless adapter does not detect one specific network anymore on my laptop (toshiba). It was detecting it until a while ago, and all of a sudden I cannot see the network anymore. However, when i connect the wireless adapter to my other laptop (lenovo), the network is detected. Nothing has changed in the wireless network, and no programs were installed on my laptop (toshiba) before the network stopped appearing.

Dec 19, 2011I provide support for a small business network. ISP: Silo Wireless (wireless point to point with ISP) Router: Cisco RV220W Wireless-N Network Security Firewall
The router is configured with two wireless access points with SSIDs: "abracadabra" and "abracadabra-guest". The only difference between these two wireless networks is their passcode. Up until now I have had no problem connecting devices to either wireless network.
My problem lies with an HP Pavilion laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit that I'm trying to connect to the "abracadabra" wireless network.
Network and Sharing Center shows "Identifying" for a while and then shows "Unidentified network" with no local or internet access. Wireless network connection status says that Media State is Enabled, Speed is 54Mbps and Signal Quality is Excellent. Network Connection Details shows that DHCP is Enabled but it's getting an Autoconfiguration IPv4 address of 169.254.107.138...
The laptop is running ESET Nod 32 Antivirus 5 and Windows Firewall and I've disabled Windows Firewall on the Wireless Network Connection. I've also tried re-installing the wireless nic driver, it's running the latest from Windows Updates.
what really gets me is that the laptop can connect to "abracadabra-guest" fine and access the internet

Dec 20, 2012After not using my computer for a week due to illness I've turned it on to discover that it cannot connect to the wifi network that has been working fine for the last few months. The network is shared and I don't personally have access to the router, and the network administrator is away at the moment so I can only attempt solutions at my end.It seems it might be an IP configuration issue. Network diagnostics gave me the error message "Wireless Network Connection 4 doesn't have a valid IP configuration", as well as one or two other IP-themed error messages.
My computer thinks it's connected. It says I'm connected to the network and that I have internet access, but there's no actual connectivity.Finally, weirdly, I did seem to manage to connect briefly at one point. It took about three minutes to load the Google homepage and then dropped again. I have no idea what the significance if any of that is.I know the following for sure:
- the wifi network does work; I'm using it on my laptop right now
- the network adapter on my computer also works, it can connect to the wifi hotspot on my phone

If I use nslookup to get the IP-address of YouTube, I get 173.194.32.32.If I go to http://173.194.32.32/ in my browser it can connect, but as Google is probably checking the Host HTTP-header, it shows Google's frontpage instead.
There is no blocked websites on the router and other devices on the network seems to work.My computer only has this problem on this specific network.
I am using Mac OS X 10.8.2 on a MacBook (mid 2009).

May 5, 2011I was trying to configure a friend's router, but their laptop wouldn't connect wirelessly. Initially, I couldn't connect via ethernet cable either, but I went into the settings and set it to obtain an IP address automatically. After that, I could connect via ethernet no problem.I was able to successfully connect wirelessly on two different mobile phones.I still can't connect wirelessly to this router (well, technically it says it's connected to the network, but it won't connect to the internet, nor can I bring up the hub settings). However, I can connect to their old router no problem. I'm not sure whether the problem lies with the laptop or the router, and don't presently have another laptop to check

Apr 23, 2010I recently purchased the Linksys E3000 router. My old network set up had been 100% wired, but with the new router we have converted to wireless on some of the internet capable devices. I have 2 pc's side by side in separate room from the router that we purchased wireless adapters for, the Linksys AE1000. One pc set up fine and accesses the internet with no issues. The second pc cannot connect the network. It sees the network with a good signal strength, but it times out when trying to connect.I called tech support and have been through a variety of things with them to no avail so far.Both of these pc's are running Windows XP SP3. On the one that won't connect, have already confirmed in device manager that the adapter is correctly installed. I uninstalled it, rebooted, reinstalled it anyway with no luck. With tech support already tried disabling the 5ghz band and changing the channel on the 2.4ghz band to 11.I have confirmed several times I am entering the password in correctly, and I did pay attention to case sensitivity.When I run ipconfig/all, it says under Media State: Media Disconnected.

Aug 31, 2012I have downloaded the installation data "R147095 Dell Wireless Printer Adaptor 3300 Installation Set-UP.exe". Saved that to a new CD and loaded it to my PC. I get through most of the setup wizard but always fail at the same point - The adapter will not connect to the network. All the usual checks are positive and the network key is correct and in the appropriate case. I have run Driver Detective and that confirms that the drivers for the adapter are up to date. The printer is not yet installed on the PC and the software for it has not been loaded.
I have tried this procedure again on a second PC where the printer had been used as a wired slave printer but have uninstalled the printer first. Same result - Adapter fails to connect to the network.
Router is a Billion Bipac 7800 n. I can get other "newer" devices to connect without problems but this "old" adaptor is proving stubborn.

Jul 20, 2012I am unable to connect to facebook with any reliability. It will go to the site every once in a while but I would say a very small success rate.
I don't have this problem with any other website and my hosts file hasn't blocked facebook.
Also when I enter the url and press enter, it goes to a google search with a very long url, this doesn't happen with any other url.
