Constantly Using Portable Wireless Router On Different Subnets

Apr 25, 2011

I work in the field at multiple accounts on machines/subsytems which have internal private wired lans within each particular subsytem. I use my laptop with a 3G connection to access the internet while onsite. I also connect wifi, to a portable router I carry, to the sybsystems wired network. Each particular machine/subsystem always has it's own particular private lan/subnet. I only work with a single machine/subsystem at a particular time. What is the easiest or best way to do this without having to always change the ip address on the wireless router (to match the subnet addresses on that particular machine) I use for each scenario. Is there a way to keep the router ip address the same always and add routes or something using a script or something that I can automate? I need my internet 3G connection (which is always my default gateway) as well as a connection to machine's internal network simultaneously (2 different subnets using 2 diffent adapters (3G and Wifi adapter)).

There is never any existing routers on these internal networks. Sometimes there is a DHCP server though. In the case where there is a DHCP server, can I just connect the WAN port of the Wireless Router to the internal network and let the internal network with it's DHCP server act as though it is the "so called internet/broadband connection"?In the event there is no DHCP server on the network, will I have to just continue to alter the address/range in the router? Also, I always have DHCP disabled in the router when using.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Not Detecting Portable Hard Drive

Jan 5, 2012

My E4200 works beautifully, and was working fine with the Toshiba 500 GB portable drive that I had on it for a week or so. I tried to plug in my WD MyBook Essential (Passed on the list of compatible drives), but the router is not detecting it. Further, when the drive is plugged in, the router stops receiving new wireless connections. Even if I reboot a laptop that was previously connected, it says that that the passkey is incorrect. When the drive is plugged in, I can't even log in to the 192.168.1.1 - it's as if the router creates a firewall around it and refuses every new connection on every port.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA3500 Disconnect After Plug In Portable Hard Drive

I bought an EA 3500 refurbished through linksys. I can't configurate it using the CD-Rom. Always said "can't find your router". So I flash with the classic firmware, and it fixs the problem and automatically upgrade to smart Wi-Fi. That being said, whenever I plug in a portable hard drive, the router disconnect from internet after a minute. I tried my seagate HDD and also my flash driver. Both Lost internet after a minute or so. So I think it is probably the router's problem.

Cisco Wireless :: 877 As Access Point And DSL Router To Subnets

Sep 3, 2012

I have been using an 877 to provide DSL access and wireless access point from two separate wired subnets. The idea is that traffic from one subnet will be routed to the DSL connection. The other subnet provides a bridged connection to wireless clients. Both subnets being isolated from each other. In the former case the router acts as DHCP server, whilst in the latter case a separate DHCP server is used. Despite all apparently working, recent introduction of a wireless client did not work and seemed to be acquring a DHCP lease from the router rather than the external DHCP server. It seems that broadcast traffic from the router DHCP server was traversing to the wrong interfaces, despite (I hope) only the wireless and the second wired subnet being in the bridge group.

The salient parts of my config are enclosed below. I have anonymized the public addresses using q1.q2.q3 therein.

Belkin N+ Wireless Router Constantly Needs To Be Restarted

Feb 8, 2011

I've got a Belkin N+ Wireless router. Every day or two, all internet connections fail. If I pull the power plug on the router to restart it, all connections come back up as normal.

Is there something I can pinpoint that is causing this? Is the router getting "overloaded" or something? I didn't see anything in the router settings that I could tell would be related to this. Really getting tired of having to constantly manually restart this thing...

Linksys Wireless-N Router (WRT160N) / Home Network Router Constantly Drops Connection?

Jan 13, 2012

Often my router drops connection to all my devices. Multiple times a day. It's only for a minute or so, but it's annoying. I'm using a Linksys Wireless-N router (WRT160N) with WEP encryption. I'm running two Windows 7 laptops, LG BluRay player, Apple TV, Xbox 360 (Wired) iPhone 4, and a iPad 2. It doesn't matter if I'm browsing the web, watching Netflix, or playing a game, the connection gets lost. As we speak it happened again. I have no clue on what to do. I've reconfigured it multiple times. Firmware has been updated months ago.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 - MacBook Constantly Not Getting IP?

Jul 2, 2011

I have the Linksys E2000 and set it up on MacBookPro no problems.  My iPhone 3G and my gf's iPhone4 connect no problem.  Also, I have an XBox 360 connected via ethernet cable.  Her MacBook however is constantly not getting an IP.  I set her up with an EZ Key, but every time she connects we have to go through the EZ key process where I run Cisco Connect from my laptop.  Why can't she just log in every time?  This is frustrating me as all other aspects of this router work fine.  I had her plugged into it as well with no problems.  Again, it works after a dual computer Cisco Connect cycle, but my computer isn't always home.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560 - Portable Redundant Power System For Catalyst Switches?

May 10, 2012

Does a portable RPS device either from Cisco or another manufacturer exists, that would allow you to move primary power for a switch without causing an outage? I realize that for the Catalyst 3560 for example, you can get an RPS 2300 or 675, but my understanding is that these are made for a more permanent installation, not to mention rather costly.

It looks like the RPS 675 is rather inexpensive after all, especially in the secondary market, but still rather large for toting around.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Constantly Dropping Connections

Sep 27, 2011

In the last three weeks I replaced a Linksys WRT54G wireless router with a new E2500.  The only reason this was done because the store salesman indicated I should get much better performance over my router that was probably 5 years only.

Since the install I have had nothing but issues.  I could never get on PC runing XP to connect.  It worked one day and the next morning I could never get it to connect again.  I even removed the encryption and went to WEP with no luck. My laptop that I loaded the software on and initially did the connection I didn't have an initial problem.  The problem I now have is the wireless connection is constantly dropping.  In the course of an hour the connection probably drops 3 to 4 times.  If you leave the PC for several hours, you may need to sign of your user and resign in to get the wireless connection to work. This is an experiment gone bad.  My old router never dropped a connection and every PC in the house stayed connected forever.  This new router is located the same distance as my original one was, but is nothing but a series of failed connection.

I will lose my connection to the internet and connection locally to other laptops then it will reconnect. It is also disconnecting when wired as well as I have a playstation using a wired connection out of the router and it loses connection all the time as well. What is causing this, I am pretty sure it is the router and not my internet service.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Drops Constantly On IMac?

I've ensured that the iMac has all system updates, and I've checked that the E2500 is the latest firmware.

I've reverted to my old WRT54G for now, I'll have to return the E2500 if it won't work consistently with the iMac.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Constantly Drops Connections

Sep 5, 2011

My E4200 seems to be dropping connections throughout the day.  For wireless it'll still show full signal and connection, but there will be no internet activity for about a minute.  Then after a minute things will work just fine again. For wired I notice it in my XBox mainly when I get dropped from games as constant as the wireless drops.I believe my modem isn't the problem since the old router never dropped connections on the hard wired devices.  Occasionally my old D-Link router would drop wireless, but never this frequent,I am running 1.0.02.  I've rebooted the router/modem several times.  I even reinstalled the entire setup with the current version of Cisco Connect as the tech person suggested, but still no luck.  The first week or so using this router was flawless, but ever since then it's been dropping connections several times throughout the day to any device connected (wireless or wired).  The problem seems that the router just hiccups the connection very quickly, so quickly that Windows doesn't even recognize the connection has been lost, but long enough to drop a multiplayer game on XBox or to have me mashing refresh on my internet browsers.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT160Nv3 Constantly Resetting To Factory Defaults?

Jan 9, 2010

WRT160Nv3 Firmware Version: v3.0.02

I've been using Linksys for years but the last two routers I have purchased have been very problematic.

- My router hasn't had this problem before. The other day I was downloading 4 games at a time from STEAM, when I got home from work I found that my router had completely gone back to factory settings.  So I configured my DSL PPPoE, SSID, Wireless Security (WPA) changed the default admin PW and about 20 minutes later it was back to factory again.

I've done a "hard" reset and reconfigured and still it resets itself. What's also upsetting is this completely opens my network up to ANYONE when this happens...

So far in the past 2 days I have (now using a backup restore file) re-configured the device 10 times.

The only thing I can think of is that I just got Windows 7 the same day this started happening. I thought it could be STEAM as well so right now I have STEAM closed to see if it resets while it isn't running.

Could TOO much demand on the router cause it to completely reset itself to factory config?? Seems to me like there's a huge firmware or hardware problem here.

I have other friends and even co-workers that also have problems galore with their Linksys products...No other router it seems has as MANY issues as Linksys. Hat to say it but my next purchase most likely will not be another one of their products. This just shouldn't be happening.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt120n Constantly Dropping Link Speed?

Jun 27, 2011

I have a toshiba a215-s7437. I bought this router upgrading from the usual netgear router that everyone and there mother has(wrt54g or something?). The routers are in the same exact spot...less than 6 feet from the computer with no obstructions. No matter WHAT i do, even if i put the router on top of the laptop keyboard, over time, usually a matter of minutes, it starts dropping my link speed. My old netgear ever went below 54, EVER. Even if i was out on the porch. It will connect at 54 mbps, then go to 36, etc etc until we get to 1mbps. I have had other friends bring laptops over, same exact thing happens to them. I am viewing the link speed through windows task manager to get these readings.  Though i can't see the link speed on my android phone or xbox, it seems over time they get slower also. I have tried googling the hell out of this issue to no avail. I do have the latest firmware. I have also tried searching these cisco forums and have not found any topics pertaining to this (maybe i just suck at searching). I have comcast at 15mbps and i do know that whether it is 54 or 36, it's not gonna be any faster. But just the fact that it falls the whole way to 1 is not acceptable. My fix for this at the moment is just disconnecting and reconnecting real quick, and i always start back out at 54 mbps. Sometimes I will get lucky and it will stay at that point for 20-30 min?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT400N Constantly Drops IPhone / ITouch Connection

Feb 28, 2011

I have the WRT400N router and using windows 7 (on this computer). It works perfectly with any computer I use in the house (there's 3). As soon as I open a laptop, its connected. My iPhone (we have 2) and an iTouch, are a different story. They connect, stay connected sometimes for 5 minutes, sometimes 5 hours, then will drop the connection out of nowhere. It doesn't matter how close or far I am from the router. Sometimes I'll get a message that I have an incorrect password (which it's not, which is why it DOES work). Sometimes I don't get a message at all (on the phones I'll just notice its on E/3G). Now, looking through the database I noticed there is a program for the valet routers that lets you add the phones, yet this doesn't apply to mine.

The tech in live chat told me it was the phones. I know its not as I had a wireless modem before this, and I never once lost a signal or had it ask me for an incorrect password.

1. When I establish a VPN session to the ASA, I can ping and access any resources dierectly connected to the ASA's interfaces and on the ASA's internal 192.168.100.0 network. However, I cannot access any resources behind the 3745. I cannot even ping 192.168.1.1. Even directly connected hosts on the ASA cannot access Hosts in the 192.168.1.x subnet. There appears to be no traffic between 192.168.100.0 and 192.168.1.0.
