I got firmware 1.33NA, resetted to default settings. After a reset from the button at the back of the device, I couldn't get network share to work again. I have a win7 and an xp laptop connected to the router wirelessly.

My problem is that I am able to access internet on bothsystems but they cannot see each other in network places. I am unable to sharefiles between the them. I am using DIR-825 with share port Version 1.17 under Win 7 with Out post Pro Firewall V 7.1. Although I give {URL}, all rights to access the LAN and WAN it is not possible to get a connection to the router. Only shutting down the firewall entirely works to get access. (This cannot be the solution ). Is there any other file or service for which the firewall needs to be configured? I tried to open different ports for TCP and UDP as well - without any success.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have bought a new laptop and added it to my home network , two pc's and two laptops all running win 7. I share all drives on all machines. I know this is not very professional but it works for me.From the new laptop I can see all the network and see all the different drive folders but can only access the user folder on any PC from the new laptop. Also I can see the drives on the new laptop but only access the new laptops user folder from any other PC. I have checked this through a LAN cable and wireless with no difference.As the other PC's can see each other as normal I can only think there's a problem with the set up in the new laptop. I also note when I first try and access any other pc from the new laptop I am asked a domain name and password , I can put anything in these boxes and get to see the network but as I said above only access the user folders. I do have password access turned of.

Its not big secret thou if i have read right from url...why D-link is sticking with this shareport-utility. Even the B1 hardware has common usb-port for sure, which can be controlled by linux and therefore there would be more simple way to get things like printer working with it over network. Also ssh-server support would not be too big investment. right? And why im not so fully changing to openwrt or dd-wrt is that the patches are not in stable tree yet and i think that i can be pretty happy with the current web-ui of dlink and dont have much of time to setup my router for openwrt.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI moved to a new apartment and have to wait a month or even more to get my DSL internet, so I temporarily got myself a USB 3G device to have some access to the internet till I get my DSL line.
The USB acts as 3G modem for a single PC that's connected to it, what I want is to share that internet using my D-Link DIR-655 router so I'd be able to connect my iPhone and PS3 as well.
How to get that setup working as smoothly as possible would be great. DIR-655's default gateway is 192.168.0.1, and the auto DHCP range IIRC is 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199.

Going to a hotel where they'll charge me (a lot) for WiFi in the room, for only 1 device. Will the TL-WR702N let me share this 1-device internet connection among several devices?
If you can't home share on iTunes between Computers or AppleTV, try turning multicast on
1) login to router
2) Go to Advanced tab
3) Select Advanced Networking on Left hand column
4) Select checkbox to enable multicast streams
5) Save the changes
In order to get all my machines working, I also had to enable multicast streams on my network extender as well. The IP address for the network extender is 192.168.0.50 or type in DLINKAP in the URL bar and follow the relevant instructions for your model number.
Please note if you use a software firewall on your PC or Mac, you may need to also free up TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353. However there are plenty of support articles at Apple / Norton / Microsoft / etc... on how to do this for your relevant firewall..

I just bought TP-link wireless N gigabit router (model No. TL-WR1043ND). Everything is working fine except my external hard disk drive connected via usb on the router.I am using Ubuntu 12.10 and I don't know where to find the HDD.
I can see the disc in router settings but I don't know how to access it. Clicking on Open the disk does nothing and following the url file://192.168.1.1/Volume1 results in webpage not found.
I can access the External HDD with windows no problem but how do I access it in Ubuntu?
I get internet connection with a 3G USB stick and it's working fine. Now I need to share this connection to my laptop with Windows Vista. I'm using a Tenda twl542r+ router to do that. I've configured everything to work fine when I connect the laptop to the desktop comp with ethernet cable, so I can get online with the laptop through the desktop comp this way. He can't browse to the network share (\servershare) using the hostname, but he can by IP address.I've checked the host file, looks normal. I can ping the server by hostname or IP address. And in fact, after going to \server, it shows 1 share which we deleted 2 days ago. It only shows 1 share when there's in fact about 20. This only happens when browsing to the server via hostname.If we browse by IP address, he can see all of the shares on the server.. (\192.168.x.x)

I have tried this with Windows 7 using a bridge between the laptop wifi and lan adapters. But I must be doing something wrong.
The other option is to use ICS, but not sure then if the hotel's system would see additional devices. (we are limited to 4 where we stay, but exceed that when family visits!)

The laptop shares the My Documents folder for 2 of the 3 profiles. One of them works as it should. It is visible and accessible on the main desktop machine, but the other share is visible but NOT accessible. I get the following error message when I try to explore it from the main desktop machine:

I'm not sure when this started, but remember that the other folder being shared is working just fine. I've double and triple checked the settings, share names, and basically anything I could possibly mistype. I've restarted both PCs, and refreshed the network explorer via both the file explorer and My Computer dialog. The My Computer dialog refresh the shares for some reason that the explorer wouldn't, but I'm still denied access to that one share on the laptop.
