Can't Browse Network Share By Name Only IP?

The first thing that came to mind was DNS. There's just 1 of about 50 people here who's having this issue. He can't browse to the network share (\servershare) using the hostname, but he can by IP address.I've checked the host file, looks normal. I can ping the server by hostname or IP address. And in fact, after going to \server, it shows 1 share which we deleted 2 days ago. It only shows 1 share when there's in fact about 20. This only happens when browsing to the server via hostname.If we browse by IP address, he can see all of the shares on the server.. (\192.168.x.x)

I have a very strange problem affecting my LAN. New entrants to the network can ping successfuly but cannot browse. Rest of the pcs that have been on the network before are browsing quite fine. Even when I connect new PC directly to the router LAN ports, problem still persists. I've tried four different new laptops so far. I've even intalled a new router to no avail.

I can ping all the devices on my network but cannot browse any pc/server, mapped drives now disconnected. I can access the laptop from another machine and can browse the internet from the laptop. It has windows 7 ultimate. I have tried everything from forums, sfc/ scannow, flushdns, all services started.

i have a n6073 network camera i cannot browse and ping the IP of it.i used CAM FINDER to find the right IP, netmask and gateway of my n6073 network camera. can you check this:
n6073 network camera:
IP: 192.168.0.20
netmask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.0.254
and my local network connection:
ip: 192.168.0.20
netmask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.0.254
why i can't browse in firefox nor ping it the ip of my n6073?

I know about the issue of disabling default gateway... but the thing is on my Windows Vista, when i click on advanced setting for tcp/ip 4, there is no box ticks for disabling it. I don't know why.

We have Linux server (CentOS) and nearly 120 computers in the local network (192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0) and nearly 20 computers have their own IP-address (real address). Periodically the 192-network computers can't browse the Internet; ping to the server is working; computers which have their own address are working properly

I am not able to browse my local area network. I get internet fine. I have a vista laptop connecting wirelessly and the dir-655 is connected to a giga switch. The rest of my network is connected to that switch.

My laptop is able to connect to the wireless router in my home, but the browser will never load a page, status is shown "connected". However, when I try on other laptops, they are able to surf the net. I have tried using my laptop at my friend's place with a different wireless router and it works at his place as I was able to surf the internet through my wireless! So, I've tried resetting my personal modem to factory default and it still doesn't work.

My network consists of the following:
Office-RV042 with static IP ->SBS2003 (10.10.10.5/ 255.255.255.0)
Remote: BEFSR41 with Dynamic -> XP sp3 VPN client (192.168.3.x/ 255.255.255.248)
Within the RV042 I have enabled the PPtP server and assigned a user. No port forwarding enabled. All VPN passthroughs and firewall is enabled. DHCP server is disabled.I can establish a connection to the rv042 and ping PCs including the sbs domain server on the office side but am unable to browse any folders. When I attempt to access a network folder located on the office server I am prompted for a username/ password. Upon entering my domain credentials I get an error stating: "the user name you typed is the same user name you logged in with. That user name has already been tried. A domain controller cannot be found to verify that user name"

I have bought a new laptop and added it to my home network , two pc's and two laptops all running win 7. I share all drives on all machines. I know this is not very professional but it works for me.From the new laptop I can see all the network and see all the different drive folders but can only access the user folder on any PC from the new laptop. Also I can see the drives on the new laptop but only access the new laptops user folder from any other PC. I have checked this through a LAN cable and wireless with no difference.As the other PC's can see each other as normal I can only think there's a problem with the set up in the new laptop. I also note when I first try and access any other pc from the new laptop I am asked a domain name and password , I can put anything in these boxes and get to see the network but as I said above only access the user folders. I do have password access turned of.

I get internet connection with a 3G USB stick and it's working fine. Now I need to share this connection to my laptop with Windows Vista. I'm using a Tenda twl542r+ router to do that. I've configured everything to work fine when I connect the laptop to the desktop comp with ethernet cable, so I can get online with the laptop through the desktop comp this way. But when I use the same cable to connect the desktop comp to the router and try to get a wireless connection from the laptop it doesn't work anymore.

One of my Laptop, I cannot see the Network Share Drive from My Network Place. I am using DNS320 Dlink. But I can ping and I can access web base go inside Network Share drive management. But when I try to ma \sharedrivenamefolder, "Error code 0x80070035 Network path was not found ". I already restart the network drive, router and this computer also cannot. Last time we using vbscript to set at startup and let it map automatically when window boot up every day. Other PC with XP all can access. I cannot upgrade vista to 7 because it's from remote site. I currently have two networks, Network A and Network B.Network A has a default gateway of 10.1.10.1 with two computers on it. I also have a router connected to Network A and this router creates Network B.Network B's router has an IP address of 10.1.10.18 with a default gateway of 192.168.1.1. Also on network B i have two computers and two printers. One printer is connected directly to the 192.168.1.1 router and the other printer is connected to one of the computers via usb.

I recently pulled apart 2 external hard drives and made them internal hard drives in my computer. They hold a lot of video files as my computer is used as a media centre and is networked to several xbox360`s Using windows media centre around the house. Before I made the Hard drives internal, I used my android tablet with the es file explorer app to browse and move the files around. After they were made internal I was unable to continue to do that and when ever i tried to access one of those drives I got a message saying 'log in failure The account has no permissions

Set to use username and password rather than homegroup. On the desktop, I set my second hard drive to share a video folder. If I try to access it using \COMPUTER1NAMEVideo (the share path), I get a denied message.If I access the laptop from the desktop and transfer the file that way, it works just fine. Neighbor agreed to let me use his WiFi connection only if it requires no changes or disruptions on his side. His signal is broadcast with a wireless router. I can currently see his signal broadcast on my laptop, but it's very weak.I have a omnidirectional antennae already mounted outside my house with a clear sight of view. It has a cable attached to it that terminates with a N connector inside my building.I need to connect to his signal (there are several being broadcast in the area) and then forward it to my router. I am using Compaq Presario CQ41. OS Windows 7. I am connected to other PCs via LAN. My computer name is "Compaq" and the ones that I connected to are named "NEXT" and "TESTING". I am able to access data to "NEXT", "TESTING" and vice versa which means that the LAN is working. I want to share a certain file to "NEXT" but I want that file not to be shared by "TESTING".

I have a fairly simple wireless home network. My main desktop machine is running XP Pro, and our family laptop is running XP Home. The laptop shares the My Documents folder for 2 of the 3 profiles. One of them works as it should. It is visible and accessible on the main desktop machine, but the other share is visible but NOT accessible. I get the following error message when I try to explore it from the main desktop machine:
<the share name> is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
Access is denied.
I'm not sure when this started, but remember that the other folder being shared is working just fine. I've double and triple checked the settings, share names, and basically anything I could possibly mistype. I've restarted both PCs, and refreshed the network explorer via both the file explorer and My Computer dialog. The My Computer dialog refresh the shares for some reason that the explorer wouldn't, but I'm still denied access to that one share on the laptop.

I have several computers wirelessly connected through a "LevelOne" access pont. I connected network Peripherals as follows.(router/switch/access point/PC-01 or PC-02)one access point connected with 4 PCs with one usb printer.this printer connected with one pc.4 pcs are in same home group.They were worked well before, but now the computers cannot ping each other.Many time clint pc can't connect to server pc (Printer attached pc).rinter shows offline.advanced sharing settings are normal as microsoft. Firewall disabled.

So stupid old copy machine in office only recognizes an IP address to send scans to.Detail:We've had an old slow XP box hooked up on the network as that IP address and it works fine... scan on copy machine and it sends it to a folder on that desktop. Everyone gets scans from that folder from a mapped drive on their esire:Want to nix the XP box and put a share folder on my WinServer2003 box (which I already set up and set permissions on).n I set on my network (and how) for IP (192.168.1.199) to go to that share folder now instead of a PC with that IP#?

How can I share file to other computer in a home networ? Here is my network configuration: I'm using a Cisco modem with wireless (main) then I connect a D-link router on LAN port to get a better signal in the basement. On the windows 7 I turn ON the sharing setup at the PC on D-link. However the PC on D-link connection doesn't see the other PCs on the Cisco connection.

I have a hardwired network with 10 workstations plugged into switch. Printer plugged into switch. Server plugged into switch.Switch plugged into router.Router DHCPs except printer is static IP. All have access to internet through server then out through router.Have added another workstation that is not allowed access to the network (on purpose) but needs to be able to use the printer. The workstation is not under our security for virus control, etc so I don't want it in the server. But it needs access to internet and access to printer. Should I create a separate subnet from the router and keep the workstation separate there? If so, then how can I keep the printer accessible to both subnets?
