D-Link DIR-655 :: Unable To Change Password / It Failed?
Jul 6, 2012
Hardware version: A4, Firmware version: 1.35NA.
The device is working just fine but I just want to change the password but it failed. I opened my web browser enter 192.168.0.1 then logged into the admin account then put in the new password for both admin and user, clicked save setting...it asked for rebooting the device I let it rebooting. Everything went fine. I was able to log in both the admin and user acc with the new password. The only problem is that my PC can still connect to the network using the old password? I expect that the PC will need to use the new password to access the network but this is not the case.
Since some months I'm running ACS 5.2 appliance without any problems. When I want to change the password from a local user there's a popup message:
"This System Failure occurred: {0}. Your changes have not been saved.Click OK to return to the list page." I tried different users but I am not able to change any password. Always the same message.
I have tried to change the username and password using the following procedure but when I do so and reboot the router and try to login using the new userid and password it says Authentication failed. Complete these steps in order to recover your password:Shut down the router.Remove the compact flash that is at the back of the router.Power on the router.Once the Rommon1> prompt appears, enter this command:confreg 0x2142Insert the compact flash.Type reset.when you are prompted to enter the initial configuration, type No, and press Enter. At the Router> prompt, type enable. At the Router# prompt, enter the configure memory command, and press Enter in order to copy the startup configuration to the running configuration.Use the config t command in order to enter global configuration mode.Use this command in order to create a new user name and password:router(config)#username cisco privilege 15 password ciscoUse this command in order to change the boot statement:config-register x2102Use this command in order to save the configuration:write memoryReload the router, and then use the new user name and password to log in to the router.
Had to reset out DIR-655 router. This ended up changing our network password. Unfortunately, my DAP-1522 was not informed of this change and it will not connect to my Directv receiver now. I attempted to log into the bridge to change the password and it will not let me in. I attempted to reset the DAP in hopes that I would just be able to start over from scratch, but no dice (Assuming that I did it correctly)
I would like the ability to change the default password. Currently, when I change the default password and save the config via the web interface, neither the original password, or the new password work. I am forced to reset the device to the default config to regain access to the device.
i am using a D-Link 2730u, was trying to change the username and password for the router but it keeps saying that ACS URL is required, there is a place where i can put one but even after goggling it for a bit i didn't understand what should i put in there?
I am having a problem which I can't seem to find a way around. I have a DIR-615 E3 that I'm unable to get IPv6 to work properly on.I'm connecting to IPv6 over PPPoE, and I'm unable to change the 'IPv6 LAN Address' to an IP my provider has given me. They've provided a native address in the 2607:: range, however on the router it's stuck at a 6to4 IP which is NOT what they've given me (2002:CEF8:8B79:: IP).
I'm thinking of buying a new router that either has better IPv6 support, or one that supports OpenWRT and working my way through that.
I will try to explain my problem as clear as possible but my knowledge about networks and routers is very limited.
I have a DIR-615 version:C1 firmware:3.13NA My ISP is ATT DSL Modem is Siemens SpeedStream 4100, it does not have a router built in Internet line is connected from wall to modem, to router, to PC.
after I upgraded the firmware I had no internet coming out of the router, I bypassed the router and connected straight to the PC and I got internet. I unplugged the power on both modem and router waited a whole night (I was too tired) and in the morning internet was back to PC and I had WIFI again BUT. When I put a password on the WIFI network all my stuff finds the signal but cannot connect, if I open the signal meaning if I have no password and the WIFI is open I can connect all of my electronics without any problems.
I already tried using WEP and WPA but still unable to connect anything, I been leaving my signal open when I'm at home for the last week and I don't like it.
Before the update everything worked fine.
I don't know if this matters but I have a PS3, Wii, Roku box, Laptop and a couple cell phones connected to it. And there are like 6 or 7 network signals close to my house.

trying to connect to router configuration (after several factory resets) at 192.168.0.1 but each time screen displays invalid username / password, doesnot even display username / password window, using admin as username and password, just cannot log on to configuration setup
I wanted to do with my Cisco 2800, a password recovery. I have read the instructions and Cisco just came up at six.
Complete these steps in order to recover your password:
Shut down the router. Remove the compact flash that is at the back of the router. Power on the router. Once the Rommon1> prompt appears, enter this command:
confreg 0x2142Insert the compact flash. Type reset.
BUT I had forgotten to plug the flash card. And now comes via console hieroglyphics only
I am not able to successfully accomplish the password reset function. This 2950 does not respond to the mode button held down at power up or to sending a briak. I have tried both several times and the switch continues to fully boot. [URL]
