View 14 RepliesUnder Devices, I find that my Apple laptop (WIFI connection) and our Dell Desktop (LAN) connection are considered the same device. The operating system the EA3500 shows for this device is the apple IOS system both connections and address numbers appear in this device. This makes it impossible to set up separate parental control settings on each computer. What could I do to get the EA3500 to recognize these as separate devices? I have already tried forcing the WIFI network address of the Apple to another address. All that happened was the device address updated in on the EA3500 device list, but the LAN and WIFI addresses remained together still under the same device name and MAC OS on the device list.
I have the latest firmware loaded on my EA3500. This was not an issue previously when I ran the old firmware. Below is a what I see in the device listing showing the LAN address for the Dell and WIFI address for the Apple all on the same screen. When I turn one device off, the respective entry goes away. Only when both computers are off does the single device entry on the EA3500 reflect being offline.
My WAP4410N AP is running version 2.0.2.1 firmware which is quite old. There are newer firmware releases available which I'd like to upgrade to (fix the known bugs, etc.).
So I upgrade my firmware from version 2.0.2.1 to any of the following versions:
- 2.0.3.3
- 2.0.4.2
- 2.0.5.3
The AP reboots and my settings are all still there.
I go to change any of the settings I have - DNS, Time Zone, PSK, any field which can be edited and click Save.
The Save takes place and the screen refreshes to the old settings - the new settings don't stay in place after the Save.
I've also factory defaulted the AP prior to the upgrade, upgraded and then been in the same place unable to save any changed settings.
System details:
Information PID VID: WAP4410N-E V02
Device: WAP4410N Wireless-N Access Point with Power Over Ethernet Software Version: 2.0.2.1
i am looking firmware for DIR-618, previously there was a separate section for DIR-618 router what happened to it ?

Will having a third antenna even be beneficial at all for range and signal strength?I plan on flashing DD-wrt firmware for the 635 if that makes any difference.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dir-655 A3 with the firmware 1.32NA. I cannot get the new firmware 1.35NA to take. The router seems to go through the motions of the upgrade, but at the end, when I log back on, the firmware still says 1.32NA & all custom settings remain.I have upgraded the firmware on this router before and I know that when its upgraded, the router is basically reset to factory settings. All the settings have been backed up and I am attempting this upgrade via a wired connection.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-655 Rev A4.I followed this forum in the past when there were many problems with firmware upgrades beyon 1.21. Because of this I never upgraded and was told to be satisfied that I can still stay with 1.21 as upgrades caused problems for a number of people.Everything still seems fine with 1.21 except the Shareport utility often does not pickup the printer connection upon booting to Windows Vista. I can always work around this by Disable and then Enable. It will then always find the printer. It is a minor annoyance however.Should I still stay with 1.21 or is upgrading to 1.35 NA recommended ? If I upgrade to 1.35 NA is there a downgrade path back to 1.21 if the upgrade does not work well ?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-615 router, hardware rev. C1 running firmware v. 3.10, dated 4/17/09. I've been beating my head against the wall trying to get this router to properly forward ports for a bit torrent application, but it not only won't do that, it doesn't want to save DHCP reservations and it doesn't want to recognize my computer on the LAN if I set a static IP address (although it does allow my computer to connect and get an internet connection). From the D-Link website, the description of firmware update 3.12NA looks like it might take care of these problems, but I can't get the router to update. When I log into the router and check for updates, it returns a message saying the latest update is v. 3.11, dated 9/15/09. However, when I attempt to download the update, nothing happens. The D-Link website offers update 3.11NA (4/20/09), 3.12NA (3/8/10), and 3.13NA (9/30/10). Why does the website offer me a different update than the router itself? I downloaded 3.13NA and unzipped the folder, which has a text file and a .bin file; I presume the latter is the update. However, when I browse to this file and attempt to upload it to the router, nothing happens. How the heck do I update this router?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy roommates and I keep getting knocked off the internet every few minutes on the router so I've tried a bunch of the tricks found here and am trying to also update the firmware. I downloaded the newest firmware, uploaded it to the router and it says it succeeded in the update, but then after reboot gives the same version it came with.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWriting this hoping to see how DLink intends to respond to this very large hole. As someone who works in security this is 2 week old news to me but is probably new to everyone else "Hopefully not dlink devs".
So the DIR 825 along with millions of other routers are vulnerable to an outside upnp exploit basically means somebody from outside can root your router and for example open up whatever ports they want. Upnp has its own issues but it useful for those who don't want to open up a port every time some app might need a specific port but was never meant to be accessible from outside your network, Until now.
This is not some bizarre proof of concept or something that is even hard to pull off and what it would give is access to your entire private network and everything that might entail. You can test if your router is vulnerable at this link. It's owned by Steve Gibson. Many of you probably know of him, Somewhat of a celebrity in the security world. There is a upnp exposure test you can do right off the main page. It also explains whats happening and even shows you the code being used, Quite fascinating actually.
I bought the DIR-615 router from Futureshop awhile ago because my Linksys WRT54G router keeps dropping connection every couple of hours. I have to unplug the router and re-plug it in order for it work again. On the DIR-615 admin page, it states Firmware Version: 5.10. Is this the latest firmware?
I'm trying to upgrade the firmware because I still experience connection drops from time to time (but not as much as I did with WRT54G)... it usually occurs when multiple devices are pulling signal from the router (for ex. PC#1 + PC#2 + laptop). I've just disabled "Short GI" as mentioned in another forum post here.
There is new firmware for the B series of the Dir-825 but the change log is not updated.
View 10 Replies View Relatedi just thought i would try 1.35na firmware and i decided i wanted to go back to 1.33na, well you cant BE FOREWARNED.
i don't know what is the big deal about stopping you from downgrading your firmware that they lock you out of it. it never used to be a problem, pretty sure i could downgrade from 1.34na to other 1.3 firmware.
the reason for allowing people to downgrade is incase the new firmware does not work properlly. not allowing your customers to do this is just asking for trouble not to mention alienating your customers.
at work we downgrade firmware to the firmware that passed our quality tests, it also makes it easier to support them when they are all the same.
1.35 works well so i dont have to buy another router. if it doesn't you can be sure it wont be another dlink thats for sure.
what is the latest firmware version for d-link dir-825? It tell me that i currently got the 2.60VT, is it the last one? If no, where can i download and how the latest version?
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy firmware version 2.00NA (shipping version) is still working well.
When I selected 'Check online for any latest firmware' using the existing firmware, I got a message that that v2.07 (dated 2012-2-21) is available. Until now the router's check has always reported that I have the latest version.
I need to find out from other persons whether or not v2.07 is a real upgrade or is it full of bugs. I tried it once a long time ago and Shareport didn't work at all. Immediately I re-installed v2.00 and I've been pleased with the original shipping version.
What's the scoop on v2.07?
Recently he was having connection issues so decided to upgrade firmware and for some reason he did it through the management console (clicked the update to have it download the new file automatically and instantly upgrade instead of doing it manually himself). Told him not to do that anymore. Anyway, it wiped the existing firmware obviously and did not update to the newest. I came over to find it wouldn't connect at all. I was able to get into the reset console (hold reset while powering on, manual set IP on computer to 192.168.0.2 and gateway to 192.168.0.1 an then pointed the browser to 192.168.0.1).This window shows the current firmware as version 1.0.0.1 dated in 2007.I had downloaded the version 3.0 firmware and the most recent version 3.13 and had them on a flash drive, dropped them on the hard drive and attempted to flash first the newest and then the 3. Neither one would take and the router remains down. The page itself never changed after hitting SEND to upload the firmware, the browser displayed a progress bar for "uploading" and hit 100% then just sat saying "waiting for response from 192.168.0.1" until the browser timed out after several minutes.

I tried updating my firmware of my DIR-655 from 1.34NA to 1.35NA (Hardware Version: A1/A2).
However, I found something strange while updating the firmware, that made me stop, in order to ask the question.
Previously, when I did an update, I would browse for the location, and put it in, and it would allow me to update from that location.
Now, it will allow it, but when I select to update from the desktop (C:usersderickdesktop),
it comes up with another location (C:fakepath) for the .bin file.
updating to 2.03NA seems to be working for a lot of people. Anyway, my current NAT type is Strict ugh. I used to have a DIR-615 router. Man oh man that worked so well. But I had to replace it since it conked out after a 6 year stint.

I just bought my DIR-825 from Frys and it came stock with 2.02NA B1 firmware, but everytime I try to update it to 2.03/2.04/2.05/2.06 it errors saying it might not be the same hardware or something on the lines of that. But now when I try to upload it, it just leads me to "192.168.0.1 was interrupted" and can't even get to the error screen now.I'm not too savvy when it comes to routers, especially a D-Link since previously I had a Linksys WRT54GL
View 15 Replies View RelatedCurrently running firmware version 1.32NA on DIR-655 (hardware version A4). I have made multiple attempts at updating its firmware, first to 1.33NA and later to 1.34 Beta 3, with no success: on each occasion, it accepts the local .bin file upload, then claims to be in the process of applying the upload (with I think an 80 second countdown), and eventually comes back to the login page, still showing that it's running firmware v1.32NA (verified after logon, refresh, etc -- no update was applied). I have attempted this immediately after a soft reset of the router and even after a hard (power cycle) reset, but still no success.
(Any reason to think that the update might work if performed while the router is disconnected from the Internet? or after a configuration reset?
I recently updated my firmware to dd-wrt... now I would like to switch back to stock firmware. I don't like the fact that any change I make basically resets the router. Plus DD-WRT GUI is VERY slow for me?I've followed every tutorial on how to do this, but the router will not accept the stock firmware. I've gotten the image to upload (according to the browser), but at 100% the flashing orange light & globe light just continue to blink & do nothing. I never see the other lights "flash" confirming the upgrade has took. I've set my IP manually through "Network Connections>Properties>TCP/IPv4" before trying. I get to the emergency firmware page...set it upload Version A1. Sometimes it uploads...but like I said, it never takes.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought my DIR-825 three months ago. The firmware seem to be from 2009, and the check-for-later-firmware functionality from the web interface tells me that my version (Current Firmware Version : 2.01EU) is the latest.
I don't believe that the firmware from 2009 is the latest, but have no idea on how to proceed.
My hardware in the web interface say this: (Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.01E
The problem I really have is related to PPTP pass through (I think), but I thought making sure I have the latest firmware is always a smart move.
So, can the firmware-checker of the web-interface fail, or do I have the latest firmware?
I've been having wireless range issues lately with my dir-615: a lot of holes seemed to have popped up in my house despite nothing changed (house or router location). This is after at least 2-3 years of good coverage and no issues. Went to look at the firmware & found 2.0 installed. Found out online that (I think) firmware is now at 4.11. Tried to download and install but both finding the update and unzipping it proved challenging. Specifically for the latter, unzipping kept yielding more zipped packages, like a russian doll
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a DIR-655 (A4) a few weeks ago, and was encountering a problem. I immediately upgraded to 1.35NA after I bought it. First, the actual problem: With WMM enabled, my internet speeds are very inconsistent. By that, I mean it will fluctuate between full ISP speed and less than half the speed. A few seconds at full, a few seconds at half or less, and so on. Well, when I disable WMM, with everything else the same, the internet speeds suddenly become consistently fast at full speed, but PC-to-PC (LAN-to-LAN) wireless transfers slow down considerably. So no matter what I do I get a negative result.
Thus, I figured I would try downgrading the firmware to 1.32NA, 1.33NA, or 1.34NA, as I read that it is not possible to downgrade directly to 1.2x. I thought I would simply troubleshoot the problem myself. Unfortunately, no matter which firmware I try, except 1.35NA, it gives me a paragraph explanation; something like "This file was either not intended for this router, or it is corrupt. Your router will not be programmed." It did allow a reflash of 1.35NA, though. I downloaded multiple firmwares directly from the D-Link ftp multiple times, using a different router, so the files should not be corrupt.
Is it simply not possible to downgrade once you flash 1.35NA? For the record, I also tried a few of the workarounds I found on the internet: (1) do a hard reset by holding in the reset button and cycling power for 30 secs. (2) I tried some firmware directly from the German FTP which was supposed to allow a downgrade, but still got the same error as above. (3) I also tried some Russian firmware and it didn't work either. I was using a hardwired connection to the router during all attempts to flash.
i have an DIR-655 Hardware Version: A4, with Firmware Version: 1.21.Its dated: 2008/11/13.Do i get any improvement updating? And in such case, which FW should i use? It must be rock solid!
