View 3 RepliesI tried updating my firmware of my DIR-655 from 1.34NA to 1.35NA (Hardware Version: A1/A2).
However, I found something strange while updating the firmware, that made me stop, in order to ask the question.
Previously, when I did an update, I would browse for the location, and put it in, and it would allow me to update from that location.
Now, it will allow it, but when I select to update from the desktop (C:usersderickdesktop),
it comes up with another location (C:fakepath) for the .bin file.
How do I check to see if my firmware needs updating? I want to connect it to a motorola 2210-02.

I updated my firmware to the latest update a and then restored My personnel setting and now I can not access my ftp, I checked my IP address to make sure it didn't change , setting looks like did before update I went from firmware 121 to 135, was there new setting that I have to change to get it to work. I get no log in screen I get Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder?

My DIR-655 stopped working after updating firmware to 3.35. Only power light comes on. port4 flashes for a microsecond when I plug it in. Recovery mode has not done anything. Computer acts like nothing is connected through Ethernet, says "No Cable Connected." Only power light stays on the whole time. I am guessing this thing is broken now. when i go through ipconfig, "no media connected." If not whats a good router under a hundred bucks today, had this router since early 2007.

I saved the configuration settings before updating, but this doesn't even matter because my wireless router doesn't even show up in the list of available wireless network connections. Why isn't my router showing up? I tried a few things like unplugging it and resetting it, but nothing seems to work.

After a while though, I noticed my Nexus One phone wasn't getting internet through WiFi anymore. It is connected to WiFi still, and it can ping the other devices on the network but it won't connect to the web. I have a Xoom tablet connected to WiFi as well and it is getting access to the web, though it seems to drop web access from time to time too, even before the firmware update. My phone always had a connection to the web through WiFi before the update. The two PCs that have a wired connection work fine. In the router logs, I also noticed that "UPnP renew entry 255.255.255.255 <-> ... UDP timeout:0 'Teredo'" being spammed over and over since the update, which I read has something to do with IPv6?

My laptop still says it is connected to my network but I can just not have internet connection. It was not like that before but it happened more frequently now. What I did was to power off then on the modem and the router and everything will work fine again. I want to upgrade my firmware but I just wonder if I need to save all the configuration before doing the upgrading? If so, then how can I set it back to the old configuration that was saved?

However, after checking their website i found out that the firmware was not updated in the last 2 years. There seem to be a few updated mods but none of them really seemed mature/stable/well-documented.
I would like to know what other people recommend as open-source firmware for this router. I know the answers will probably be subjective; so i will give a bit of background on my needs:
for now i will only use the Wi-Fi on an Android phone the connection will not be shared with anyone (so QOS is optional)i want a stable (wired) connection on my PC (for online gaming etc.)i want the (wired) download/upload speeds to be as close as possible to those achieved by directly plugging the Ethernet cable to the PC's network card; i have a 100 Mbps connection my ISP uses PPPOE my technical level: i am a software developer and i have good knowledge of bash scripting, but no experience with networking

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was brought a WAP200 that was giving a client some issues. I've been told the first thing to try is to update/reinstall the firmware. I have the newest firmware file downloaded and saved, and I have the WAP200 plugged in and sitting on my desk.
I reset the access point and connected it directly to my computer with a patch cable, then entered the default IP address (192.168.1.245) to attempt to access the device. No go. Is that supposed to work and something is wrong with it? All I want to do is update the firmware, because if the device has been reset and the firmware reinstalled and it's still not working, then we'll just deem it defective and have it replaced.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco rv220w. I just tried updating the firmware. I used RV220W-Firmware-1.0.3.5.img. It rebooted, and now there is no DHCP and no access to anything. I tried the reset button for 10 seconds. That didn't do anything. The WAN and all the LAN lights light up. Power is on and solid. The light blinks alternating between the DMZ and the blank space to the right of wireless. How can I get this back to factory defaults?

Now i can't connect to the interent at all with either of my two wired computers or through the wireless. All the lights on the front of the router are on like the power, internet, and wireless connectivity. Also the the two WAN ports my computers are connected to in the router the lights are on and it's recognising them. But I can't connect to the internet or even see the router on my network settings. Somone suggested to reconfigure the router but when i go to set up new connection my computer doesn't detect the router and also i cant connect to the router using the ip address 192.168.1.1/ since there is no internet connection. Is there a way to get to the router options or a way to revert it to its old firmware.

I've read a little on Qos and I'm wondering if GRE over IPSecis the way to configure this setup. I'm needing recomendations. There are is no qos at present configured and its not working well at times. There are only 5 phones at the remote site and 5 computers. The remote end only supports 3 vlans as well. I'm new to ASA.

After the upgrade, i did a hard reset and re-entered the websites manually from scratch to the DENY list. I didn't even reuse the saved config file. And now the router no longer blocks any of the websites in the webfilter page even when i selected the ALLOW option.

-Up to 300 mbps
-10/100/1000 WAN and LAN
-Dual band
-a/b/g/n
Ideally, I'd like to stream my media content from the desktop to my PS3. I don't know if it's a bandwidth issue or my old router, but streaming non-HD movies would buffer like crazy. My RoadRunner connection is about 25 mbps down/1 mbps up. Not sure if the upload bandwidth is the culprit. I know there's not a huge use for 1000M WAN, but I guess I was looking towards the future. Am I overcompensating on the WiFi? My desktop has gigabit port.url...
I am currently at my parents house. They have a internet/phone package with Talk Talk, with the free D-Link DSL-2680 router (which is located at the front of the house). I've run a speed test on this and get almost 6Mbps download on the wired desktop.If I bring my laptop into the room and try it wirelessly I am getting the same sort of speed. However, if I walk 10 meters into the back of the house, I go down to 0.3Mbps.I am wanting my parents to be able to use their iPad in the living room at the back of the house as well as they could use their wired desktop in the front of the house.Is the D-Link DSL-2680 good enough? We are looking at adding an additional 10Mbps Internetn connection and route BGP between the two. For the 50Mbps connection, i'm using a Cisco 2951 router.
