D-Link DIR-655 :: Can't Downgrade From Firmware 1.35NA

Jan 12, 2011

I purchased a DIR-655 (A4) a few weeks ago, and was encountering a problem.  I immediately upgraded to 1.35NA after I bought it.  First, the actual problem: With WMM enabled, my internet speeds are very inconsistent.  By that, I mean it will fluctuate between full ISP speed and less than half the speed.  A few seconds at full, a few seconds at half or less, and so on.  Well, when I disable WMM, with everything else the same, the internet speeds suddenly become consistently fast at full speed, but PC-to-PC (LAN-to-LAN) wireless transfers slow down considerably.  So no matter what I do I get a negative result.

Thus, I figured I would try downgrading the firmware to 1.32NA, 1.33NA, or 1.34NA, as I read that it is not possible to downgrade directly to 1.2x.  I thought I would simply troubleshoot the problem myself.  Unfortunately, no matter which firmware I try, except 1.35NA, it gives me a paragraph explanation; something like "This file was either not intended for this router, or it is corrupt.  Your router will not be programmed."  It did allow a reflash of 1.35NA, though.  I downloaded multiple firmwares directly from the D-Link ftp multiple times, using a different router, so the files should not be corrupt.

Is it simply not possible to downgrade once you flash 1.35NA?  For the record, I also tried a few of the workarounds I found on the internet: (1) do a hard reset by holding in the reset button and cycling power for 30 secs. (2) I tried some firmware directly from the German FTP which was supposed to allow a downgrade, but still got the same error as above.  (3) I also tried some Russian firmware and it didn't work either.  I was using a hardwired connection to the router during all attempts to flash.

D-Link DIR-655 :: 1.35na Firmware Does Not Allow Downgrade

Feb 26, 2011

i just thought i would try 1.35na firmware and i decided i wanted to go back to 1.33na, well you cant  BE FOREWARNED.

i don't know what is the big deal about stopping you from downgrading your firmware that they lock you out of it. it never used to be a problem, pretty sure i could downgrade from 1.34na to other 1.3 firmware.

the reason for allowing people to downgrade is incase the new firmware does not work properlly. not allowing your customers to do this is just asking for trouble not to mention alienating your customers.

at work we downgrade firmware to the firmware that passed our quality tests, it also makes it easier to support them when they are all the same.

1.35 works well so i dont have to buy another router. if it doesn't you can be sure it wont be another dlink thats for sure.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Updating Firmware To V1.35NA?

Dec 30, 2010

I tried updating my firmware of my DIR-655 from 1.34NA to 1.35NA (Hardware Version: A1/A2).

However, I found something strange while updating the firmware, that made me stop, in order to ask the question.

Previously, when I did an update, I would browse for the location, and put it in, and it would allow me to update from that location.

Now, it will allow it, but when I select to update from the desktop (C:usersderickdesktop),
it comes up with another location (C:fakepath) for the .bin file.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Rev A4 - Firmware 1.35NA - Securespot Log Entries?

Jan 22, 2011

I have a DIR-655 rev A4 with firmware 1.35NA.I read [URL] 5 which stated that the SECURESPOT feature was removed as of firmware 1.35NA but since upgrading the router to 1.35NA I find the following two log entries mentioning securespot being initiated:

[INFO]   Sat Jan 22 21:01:21 2011   Initiating securespot services.
[INFO]   Sat Jan 22 21:01:21 2011   Allocating securespot services.

I will mention, before upgrading to 1.35NA I was running the stock 1.21 firmware that shipped with this router. Prior to updating to 1.35NA I had taken a backup of the router settings and after the firmware update was applied I restored this settings backup. Could that be the reason this log entry is showing up? It makes me think securespot is not really removed as is claimed in the release notes for this firmware.Can anyone else with a DIR-655 A4 w/firmware 1.35NA confirm the above two log entries mentioning securespot appear in the log (assuming ALL log settings are turned on) when your router is rebooted?

D-Link DIR-655 :: Unable To Access Web After Updating Firmware To 1.35NA

May 3, 2011

Few days ago, I updated the firmware of my router to 1.35NA and everything seemed to be working fine at first. After a while though, I noticed my Nexus One phone wasn't getting internet through WiFi anymore. It is connected to WiFi still, and it can ping the other devices on the network but it won't connect to the web. I have a Xoom tablet connected to WiFi as well and it is getting access to the web, though it seems to drop web access from time to time too, even before the firmware update. My phone always had a connection to the web through WiFi before the update. The two PCs that have a wired connection work fine. In the router logs, I also noticed that "UPnP renew entry 255.255.255.255 <-> ... UDP timeout:0 'Teredo'" being spammed over and over since the update, which I read has something to do with IPv6?

TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless :: TL-WR1043ND - Safe To Downgrade Firmware?

Feb 17, 2013

Region : Hongkong
Model : TL-WR1043ND
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 120405
ISP : Netvigator Broadband (18Mbps ADSL)

I'm having a problem with my TL-WR1043ND becoming non-responsive after a few days of uptime.This is actually my second 1043. I bought it because my first one (hardware version 1.4) has been rock solid -- I've not had to reboot it for over 2 years. (I don't have its firmware version handy at the moment, but I recall it's from 2010.)I needed this new router for a second location, but it has not been functioning correctly. It is hardware version 1.10 and shipped with the latest firmware, 120405. is it safe to downgrade the 1.10's firmware to the one that's running on the 1.4? Or is the hardware sufficiently different (e.g. different bootloaders)

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSR81 V3.1 Firmware Downgrade?

Feb 20, 2011

I recently updated the firmware on my BEFSR81 v3.1 but would now like to revert to the previous version.

Where I can find the earlier version? I've got  2.51.4, build 006 Aug 21 2009 and need the one before.

It's not a critical problem, but more of an annoyance. I power everything here off one big switch which goes off overnight. Before the update I'd just switch it all on in the morning and everything would, after a minute or so, work fine. Now, however, I have to power up the router a minute after the modem or it just sits there doing nothing. That's OK when I'm here, but if it's just the wife she can't reach the back to do it.

Is there a way I can downgrade the firmware on a C3750 v2 switch 24TS-S v07 to 12.2(35) SE5. I have added this new switch to an existing stack but the FW is not compatable. D-Link DIR-655 :: Can't Revert Or Reset After 1.35NA

May 12, 2011

So, after everyone was raving about the 1.35NA version, I downloaded it.  As I always do, I disabled my wireless NIC and connected an RJ-45.  I saved my config to a .gws file.  I uploaded the new firmware.  When I went to reload my settings file, it said it was not a valid file.  I tried multiple times.  I even tried earlier versions of saved config files.  Same thing.

So, I figured I'd revert to the 1.34NA firmware it was previously on.  It wouldn't take it.  So, I used the router config "system" page and chose "restore factory defaults".  It didn't work.  It still had the 1.35NA.  So, I used the router's reset button.  I held it in for 10 seconds, saw the system lights all blink in unison.  I checked the config page and it was still on 1.35NA.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Intermittent Wi-Fi Signal Dropped Randomly 1.35NA

Jan 13, 2011

For those of you foolish enough to upgrade to your firmware to 1.35NA, only to find that all your wireless clients are intermittently dropped randomly at the same time, read on.At the time of this simultaneous drop, the logs will tell you that the clients were "disconnected due to deauthorisation" or some such (precise wording eludes me, has not occurred for a while, which is a good thing!). The clients are then quickly "authorised", but the movie you were streaming to your living room has already been interrupted and all your family members have gone for an unexpected toilet / snack break. Needless to say, the movie is ruined. Playing/hosting online games is an exercise in slowly pulling out all your remaining hair folicles. A random 20s delay when surfing the web is also fun. The list goes on.

A quick glance at the forum suggests this is a common problem, with the only reproducible solution to downgrade your firmware, perhaps all the way to 1.21.Get this though, you cannot downgrade 1.35NA by any means known to us internet-using, neanderthal-descendant primates (yes, your ancestor interbred with them). All workarounds to downgrade the firmware currently do not work for the new firmware.Why this is not suggested more often on these forums, I cannot fathom. There are a few threads that end like this though: "Oh, switched to WPS and the problem went away.Of course, if your wireless clients do not support WPS, then, um...facepalm yourself again. Only one of them has to though, the rest non-WPS clients you can copy paste the extremely long password to.Not so important settings: (changing these will do nothing to alleviate the drops)

Now that I have provided you with the meaning to life, the universe, and everything (42, I mean WPS), enjoy "normal" wireless behaviour again. OMG, I can actually surf the internet, torrent, play games, stream movies again.Some far more knowledgeable person might speculate as to the reason why this is so...actually, I will start the useless speculation. There must have been a security issue, that was remedied with the more recent 1.3xx firmwares. At the same time, constant authorisation checks were added. The deauthorisation/ authorisation cycle is snappy and unnoticeable with WPS, yet horrible without WPS.

D-Link DIR-655 :: How To Downgrade Back To Stable Version

Dec 25, 2012

I've had the DIR-655 for a few months now, along with a Motorola Surfboard sb6121 DOCSIS 3.0.Modem works fine, the router was working perfectly fine until recently last week.

I have a desktop hardwired and a wireless network going on that I use just for my mobile phone and tablet at times. At first I was having disconnection problems with my wireless, then noticed a neighbor installed a similar router in the area according to my wifi analyzer, so I changed the channels and my wireless started working great. During this process I also did a firmware update and since then I've been receiving some really poor browsing problems, sometimes I'll visit websites like Facebook, or a news website, and it'll say something about the DNS not working, (at this point I'll ping the website and it still pings fine without any loss) so I'll visit the website about 10 minutes later and it works great. I've done extensive research on forums/Google and found it must link up to the new firmware update and something about a DNS relay? My version is:  Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.10NA

In other words, is there a way I can fix this issue from disconnecting without having to downgrade back to the old firmware? Or is this a common issue they'll continue to happen? If I do downgrade, HOW do I downgrade back to the stable version?

D-Link DIR-615 :: Can't Update Firmware

Nov 12, 2011

I have a DIR-615 router, hardware rev. C1 running firmware v. 3.10, dated 4/17/09.  I've been beating my head against the wall trying to get this router to properly forward ports for a bit torrent application, but it not only won't do that, it doesn't want to save DHCP reservations and it doesn't want to recognize my computer on the LAN if I set a static IP address (although it does allow my computer to connect and get an internet connection).  From the D-Link website, the description of firmware update 3.12NA looks like it might take care of these problems, but I can't get the router to update.  When I log into the router and check for updates, it returns a message saying the latest update is v. 3.11, dated 9/15/09.  However, when I attempt to download the update, nothing happens.  The D-Link website offers update 3.11NA (4/20/09), 3.12NA (3/8/10), and 3.13NA (9/30/10).  Why does the website offer me a different update than the router itself?  I downloaded 3.13NA and unzipped the folder, which has a text file and a .bin file; I presume the latter is the update.  However, when I browse to this file and attempt to upload it to the router, nothing happens.  How the heck do I update this router?
