Dell :: 1588 Hardware Switch Off / No Wireless Connectivity
Feb 15, 2013
I have a dell studio 1588. I was connecting fine to the Internet but then received the message no wireless connectivity. Hardware switch off. I have done a complete system restore turned on the wireless button at f2 repeatedly but the problem persists. Someone I spoke to suggested a new wireless card. How can this support if the switch is not working.

I have recently bought a brand new Dell XPS One 2710 with windows 7.Really annoyingly, the WIFI connection is very slow, and disconnects every 10-20 minutes (sometimes reconnects again a few minute later, sometime not until the computer is restarted).I have no such problems when connecting with my Lenovo laptop to the same network. The wireless card installed is: Dell Wireless 1703 802.11 b/g/n (2.4 GHz).As far as I can tell the driver is up to date.

I have been experiencing quite a bit of wireless problems with my Inspiron 17R SE. Only about half the time can I connect to my router and even then it only stays connected for a couple hours. It seems intermittent and the problem will go away for a week or so, but right now it is back in full force. Typically it will either connect and say that there is limited connectivity or it won't connect at all. Resetting the adapter via the Windows 7 troubleshooter only fixes it about half the time.
The thing is that the wireless and everything else works just fine on my Ubuntu partition, which makes me think that my driver is a bit wonky. I have tried downloading the one directly from Dell, and that has come to no avail. I have even tried using the Dell software support suite, and that hasn't found anything wrong either.

I've been doing research on the Dell site for hours via a landline and still cannot find a solution to my problem. Recently, my wireless internet function has not been working on my Inspiron E1405 computer that I purchased in June 2006. The Intel Proset/Wireless shows the networks in range, and then is unable to connect. I don't think it is a security issue because I have been able to access those networks in the past, as recently as last week. I think maybe one of my drives or programs got uninstalled, but I'm clueless how to fix it.

I am really enjoying my Dell, but I have one issue. The wireless card on the N4010 shuts itself off for no reason. Sometimes the Fn+F2 key will turn the connection back on, but sometimes I have to Fn+F2 and disabling and re-abling the wireless connection to re-establish the network connection. Is there a setting that I need to adjust or a new driver???

So I bought Dell Latitude E6530. I noticed they were a lot of things missing, since I went to see in the Device Manager. After fixing so many, I have ended up with these. When I connect my laptop through A wire cable, it does connect but when I slide the wireless switch, it enables the Bluetooth but not the wireless, I have enabled Wireless in BIOS and yet nothing.

Unfortunately, I'd been blaming the broadband at home and didn't realise this before my warranty ran out - on 30/12/12
McAffee has been uninstalled and Avast put on instead, but still it is the same - it works fine when the lead is plugged in from the router - on Speedtest it shows download speed 3.13. On wireless at home it works, just, but speed is reduced to 0.49 even though I'm sitting right next to the router. Bring it to work and it can't see the internet to connect to it

Laptop: Inspiron 1525 (2008 vintage); Network Adapter Card: 1395 WLAN 802.11g minicard driver version 5.30.21.0; W7 operating system.
Connectivity has been intermittent the last few months and now none at all. Laptop can see the router but can't connect. Tried connecting via hard-wire to the router but no connectivity 2) tried downloading a driver update but resulted in a message saying "software can't be installed hardware doesn't exist". Check of the adapter through the device manager shows "device is working properly". Have two other dells on the same router and neither have any connectivity issues.

I am not very computer literate, so this will seem like a stupid question. How do I determine whether a computer has wireless connectivity?
I have a Dell Dimension 9200 running Windows Vista that I bought in 2007. Previously, I have connected it to the internet using an ethernet cable to my router, but this is no longer possible now that my new computer is using the ethernet connection. I want to establish a wireless connection between my older Dell Dimension 9200 and my router, but I don't know how to find out whether the computer is capable of wireless connectivity.

We've had a home wireless router for several years. My wife's one-year old laptop computer (Dell Inspiron 5010) worked fine until this week when it suddenly lost connectivity and I can't get it back on-line. My laptop still works fine. I first ensured that the wireless function is on. I then clicked on the connectivity icon which shows "No connections available". It also won't show me any available wireless conection options. Under the "Open Network and Sharing Center" link, I've tried the "Set up a new connection of network" and "Connect to the internet". Under "How do you want to connect?" it only gives me "Dial-Up" as an option initially and adds "Broadband" when I choose "Show options the computer is not set up to use". When I choose broadband, and enter my user name and password, I get a message that "The wizard cannot create the connection". I also went to Control Panel, Internet Properties, Connections, Set-Up, and it takes me back to the same "Connect to the Internet window mentioned above with the same issues. I also plugged my wife's computer dirrectly into the router and still got no connectivity. How do I get my wife's computer back on-line?

My Dell studio XPS, wireless is not working. I am running Vista and Ubuntu. When running Ubuntu sometimes it loads with working wireless (only if I keep the wireless switch on at the time of booting). The wireless never works with vista. When installing the driver software it shows an error saying "The syntax of the INF is invalid"
The hardware I am using is Dell wireless 1515 wireless N adapter.
Error: The syntax of the INF is invalid.

i was poking around steam when i lost connection to the network, when it came back it was limited connectivity. now its 3 days later and i've been trying everything i can think of to make my wireless card work again from recovery to reinstalling drivers. all the troubleshooting can say is it might be the drivers, still might be for all i know but those didn't seem to work like i said. is there a chance im just being blocked by the network? its one big public network thats shared by the whole base.

I saw some other mentions online of intermittent internet connectivity using the factory-installed Intel Centrino wireless-N 1030 card on various new Dell computers running Windows 7, but didn't see any resolution to the problem.
I can connect directly to my router via an ethernet cord, but trying to use the wireless card gives me intermittent connectivity. I will pretty quickly lose the ability to load a new page if I'm browsing with IE or Firefox, and can regain it (temporarily) by disconnecting/reconnecting or letting the wireless manager troubleshoot, during which it resets the wireless adaptor. Doing a continuous ping of my router gives me anywhere from 30-70% data loss and lengthy round trips (I am currently one foot away from the router). Other (ancient!) computers work fine on my router; I have updated the router's firmware/reset it many times, etc). I didn't specifically go download a new driver for the wireless card, but going into its properties and having it search for an updated driver results in it reporting it already has the most up-to-date driver.
I spent a lot of late nights talking to Dell support, and their eventual fix (after a complete reinstall from the factory setting partition) was to set up my home network as a WEP, which I'm not happy with due to it's poor security compared to WPA2/WPA. This appeared to resolve the connectivity issue (why??). But I feel like I should be able to use WPA2 security with a brand-new laptop. So I changed it back to WPA2/WPA and tried installing all the critical updates that Windows Update could find, including SP1, and then looked at some continuous pings of various webpages and of my router itself.
Then I noticed my ping round trip time was awesome and they were 100% successful while my computer was plugged in with the power cord, but this unfailingly changed to reporting unsuccessful pings and having 1000ms round trips as soon as I disconnect the power. Seems like the on-battery power settings are starving the wireless card?
Also, I'm sure my initial intermittent connectivity (before the complete OS reinstall) was still occurring while plugged in with the power cord, so I'm not sure if the reinstall fixed some aspect of the problem, or whether the appearance of success while plugged in now is just temporary. Perhaps my card is just bad and I need a new one? I'm using the factory default power settings and the factory-installed wireless card (and I couldn't choose a different wireless card when I built my laptop)

Quick Specs:- Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium
- Wireless Card: Intel Centrino Wireless N 2230
Issue: Whenever I close my lid, my wireless connectivity drops by around 80+%. When using speedtest.net, I normarlly download at 5 megabits/s and upload at 1, but with my lid closed, I download at less then 0.4 and upload surprisingly at 0.8. My downloads and torrents basically grind to a halt, multiplayer gaming becomes difficult and websites/youtube/videos take much longer to load. I can check all these figures as I'm using an external monitor.I have tried a lot of things to improve connectivity including setting everything to high performance, disabling power saving modes, setting roaming to aggressive/high and updating drivers.

The issue is that one Dell laptop is experiencing slow or no internet connectivity at all using wireless. Sometimes 1 to 2 minutes to load a page, other times the dreaded 'not able to display webpage' message. It's fine using Ethernet. I have another laptop (same exact brand/model) and it has no problems. I also have a Macbook Pro and other Apple IOS devices (iPod/iPads) that are fine. Several Ethernet connected devices are fine as well. The laptop in question had no issues with my previoius Linksys devices, which are a BEFSR41/WAP55AG as well as a WRT-54GS v2. This one laptop was fine the first day or two on the EA4500 but something happened which is causing this issue. I had to add the WAP55AG back onto my network so my son is happy again, but my plan was to decommission the other devices. I have a Inspiron M5110 Laptop and was having some trouble staying connected to my internet so this morning I decided I would try and update the drivers. I have uninstalled the Wireless and Blue Tooth drivers and reinstalled them, but now, it won't even TRY to connect at all. In the bottom right corner, there's a red x over the wireless bars, and says No Connections are available. Before , it would have a spinning circle while trying to connect, but it doesnt have that at all anymore. My Ethernet connection is working fine, I even uninstalled and reinstalled that driver (REALTEK) and its working with no problems.
If I run IPCONFIG, the wireless adapter doesn't even show up anymore. I've tried resetting, disabling, anything I could think of. I tried several versions too of the drivers, but nothing is working. Right now, I removed it, so I have a yellow exclamation mark next to Network Controller in my Device Settings. My hardware ID for the adapter is PCIVEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_02051028
I think from the above info, I believe the wireless adapter belongs to Atheros.how I can get this thing to even attempt to connect to a network? I'm dead in the water...

I can not connect to the internet either by WiFi or ethernet connection on my XPS L501X 64bit running Windows 7. This problem suddenly occurred after a failed microsoft update. The Action Centre lists a number of problems including;
Host Process for Windows Services........................................Windows Update installation problem
Microsoft Malware Protection Command Line Utility (3).......Mp Telemetry
Microsoft Management Console...............................................Stopped working
Network Diagnostics Framework (4).......................................Unable to diagnose/repair problems
Windows Wireless Lan 802.11 Extensibility Framework....Stopped working
I can copy the technical details to Notepad and send them if this would be useful in determining the problem and finding a solution.
Of course, with no internet connection, I have been unable to report the problems, check for solutions or run any online diagnostics and am using another laptop to communicate.
I have downloaded and installed the latest WiFi adaptor (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000) and driver to no avail. I used the Intel updater wizard thingy which uninstalled the old adaptor and installed the new one. I have not updated the Realtec PCIe GBE Family Controller driver, but when I click on update driver, it indicates the the latest driver is installed. All devices are listed as working properly.

This means that I am unable to access the internet or emails rendering the computer unusable as I am not on broadband (using access from another router close by). When attmpting to Repair connection, Windows is then unable to fix the problem. All other devices work normally on the home network (Laptop, Xbox360).
I have also tried 3 different Restore points, but Windows states it is unable to restore to this point and to select another Restore point on each attempt.

I have acquired a Dell Inspiron 7520 for a week now, and I've been having a strange issue with internet connectivity since then. Firstly, the wifi takes a lot of time to connect. Following, every 10 minutes I'm online, my network access stops working completely. But if I just CLICK on the network icon in the tool bar, it starts working again, but it stops in the next 10 minutes again, and so on. If I try to repair connectivity problems, it always find and fix some problem in the network adapter or wireless point, but then again, after 10 minutes or so, it happens again. My network adapter is a Dell Wireless 1703 802.11b/g/n 2.4ghz and I have tried to update it and to re-download the firmware, but nothing seems to fix it.

I purchased a Dell Inspiron N5040 several months ago, and since I first got it, my connectivity to my in-home wi-fi upon start-up fickle. I still have my old laptop, and on that one I simply open the laptop and it's connected. This new one, I have found that I MUST put it to sleep before closing, and upon "waking" it back up, I may or may not be connected to the wi-fi upon restart. A little "caution" symbol will appear over the wi-fi indicator, and it say that I am connected to my network, but no internet connection. Sometimes I can disconnect and reconnect, but sometimes I have to put my computer to sleep and start over again.what I need to do to have consistent connectivity?

I just got a new Inspiron 660s last week and have been having some unusual connectivity issues with it. After suffering for a day or so with a painfully slow wireless connection (the status showed the signal was "excellent" but the speed of downloads or loading web pages was dreadful; meanwhile my older Inspiron Mini in roughly the same location blazes along and has for years with no problems), I decided to try just going with a wired connection. This fixed the speed issue to say the least, but now the connection drops for a few seconds every five minutes or so, then immediately reconnects. If I were just web-surfing, it wouldn't impact me all that much, but the activities I enjoy, like playing games online and streaming music, require a signal that doesn't keep cutting out. I've tried updating the drivers, but I'm told I have the most up-to-date drivers. I've tried unchecking the power-saving options and I've tried unchecking IPv6 and just about every other solution I've come across in my web searches, but nothing works. When I get home from work this evening I may try uninstalling and reinstalling the device drivers. Barring that, I may just go pick up a USB wireless adapter-- I used a cheap Belkin one in the same location on an old Dimension desktop years ago and it worked great-- and see if that works.

In my 3750 stack switch there are more than 10 L3 vlans currently in use.In that only one vlan for example vlan 11 (we given up link directly to the nodes connected to that ports which is in vlan 11)losing connectivity for sometime and again connectivity restored.Except Vlan 11 all other vlans are working fine. When we troubleshooted the issue some of the ip's able to ping and some not able to ping. checked the interface status of that ports (no crc and input errors) and port is in up status only.we also checked cpu utlilisation ,device uptime, all are no issues found. am sharing my sw basic config and one interface status at the time of issue. But only one port learning more than 50 Mac-Addresses dynamically.and am learning mac address violation in another port which is port security and storm control enabled on that port..Its seems to be any attack or something else????
