Dell Desktop Dimension E52 Not Seeing Wireless Router?
Aug 7, 2012
I have a Dell Desktop Dimension E520 with a Windows 7 operating system. Up until a couple of days ago I was able to connect to the internet. I have the router connected to the computer via an ethernet cable. Now if does not detect any wireless routers in my vicinity and there were 7 others. I have a belkin G router.
I have a Netgear DGN3500 wireless modem router that I'm trying to setup on my Dell desktop "Dimension C521". I get the error message "Ethernet adaptor required". I'm not sure why I am encountering the error message, as I have successfully installed a modem previously on the desktop via a ethernet cable.
I have an elderly Dell Dimension 5150 desktop computer. It should have wireless capability. I purchased a wifi usb 2.0 adapter, but have been unable to set it up following on-screen instructions.Running Win XP Home edition.I have reason to believe that OS may have been comprimised by a virus previously; that is why I set it aside. Now I am attempting to reactivate it.The OS seems to work normally, but I need internet access to confirm this.
I have a functioning wifi router in my house; it works normally with two other computers.I am attempting to confirm if the Win XP OS needs to be replaced before purchase. How can I confirm the OS is shot and I must purchase a new one?
How can i connect my dell dimension 4550 desktop from a hawking extender router to my ethernet port on my dell. what settings must i change if i were using a wireless before this
I have a Dell Dimension XPS R450 Desktop, with MS Windows XP SP3, which I would like to connect to the internet by way of a Linksys Wi-Fi Router N300 Model E1200-NP. Can this be done? Will I need a Network Adapter from someone?
I have a Dimension 2400 PC and a am about to get awireless router with anew provider. I cannot find a wireless switch so does any one know and if if I can connect?
I have an older Dell Desktop (Dimension E310) with Windows XP. I haven't turned it on in a year or so. Last time I used it I had a PCI Adapter for wireless and it worked fine.
Since then we've moved and are relying on a wireless router and I'm now trying to reconnect it, but it no longer has the little wireless icon. It has the Intel PROset for wired connections (from when I first bought it), and I ran the diagnostic on it, and everything passed except for the "link test." What do I do now?
I'm trying to fix my brother's computer (an old Dimension 4600). At first ISP modem wouldn't even detect his computer on the network. I downloaded the Ethernet drivers and installed them and now it detects his computer, but it still won't connect to the internet
I have a Dell Dimension 4550. I have a D-Link 655 router and want to set up a wireless network in my home, using my PC. I also have a laptop that I would like to connect to my wireless network, once I get up and running. I know how to install my router (which I haven't done yet) but I am not sure if I can set up a wireless network on my Dell Dimension or not.
I just set up a wireless router in my home to my Dimension 510 computer. I know the wirelss is working because our Ps#, Iphones and ITouches can receive the signals.
However, our other desktop Dimension 510 does not appear to be receiving the wireless signal.
does it just not have the capability to receive a wireless signal and I have to use an ethernet cable connection?
Is there something I need to add in order for it to receive the sireless signal (some one mentioned an adapter but I thought an adapter just boosts the signal, and the desktop is the closest device to the network router so it should be receiveing the signal okay).
I recently reinstalled XP but 8 yrs ago Dell forgot to give me a drivers/utilites disk (I got 2 for the monitor instead).I downloaded the ethernet driver from my other computer via USB, installed it and since I now had internet access, I was able to directly download the remaining drivers via my service tag Computer & all programs are running like new again, but I KNOW my 3000 had wireless before but under Device Manager/Network, it only shows an Intel PRO/100 VE (my original paperwork say Intel PRO/100M). I know it had wireless before - my ASUS router wasn't wired to the computer and internet access was great. I want to ditch the pesky cord again.
I am using a Negear Wireless USB adapter for the Dell Dimension 2400. The computer can see the wireless adapter in Device Manager; but it does not pick up any wireless signals.
There is a wireless switch to turn on/off for the laptop, but a desktop does not have such feature.
I have been given an old Dell Dimension 5150 from work it was connected into a server at work, all software is up to date and it works fine. I have sky broadband and my laptop connects fine wireless, there is no wireless connection on the Dell what do I need to buy to connect the Dell 5150 to my broadband as well.
I installed a new Media link MWN-WAPR150N router and I can connect two laptops and an i Pad wireless but when I try to access the Internet through a Dell Dimension 4550 desktop which is directly connected to the router, I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." I have tried unplugging the cable modem and router, downloading network drivers, repairing the connection, ip config /release and /renew, etc. and nothing has worked. The connection status shows as connected. I can ping the router successfully, but I can't ping a web site.
I have a Dell Dimension L733r with a Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adaptor. When I start the computer, it connects to the wireless network immediately. As I go through the day, all of a sudden I start getting "Unable to Connect to Wireless Network". I click on the popup and then click on repair. It goes through it's procedures and eventually reconnects the network. Sometimes it says "Connection Very Good" other times "Low" or even "Very Low". Several minutes later, it will do the same thing again and I go through the same procedure again. This might happen several more times then it will be okay. There are days where it never happens at all and then there are days where it happens every 10 minutes or so.
I am not very computer literate, so this will seem like a stupid question. How do I determine whether a computer has wireless connectivity?
I have a Dell Dimension 9200 running Windows Vista that I bought in 2007. Previously, I have connected it to the internet using an ethernet cable to my router, but this is no longer possible now that my new computer is using the ethernet connection. I want to establish a wireless connection between my older Dell Dimension 9200 and my router, but I don't know how to find out whether the computer is capable of wireless connectivity.
I have a Vostro 460 desktop, recently bought, and then realized it would be better to add wireless router. Bought router and a PCIe wireless mini card that was suggested for my PC on Dell order site. The card arrived and am trying to install. The end plate with the aerial socket is not compatible with the removable access blanks in rear of case. Have I been sent an incorrect or unsuitable card, or is there some trick or adapting needed to install this card?
I've got a Dimension C521 used as an HTPC with XBMC (Unix Version). The Remote Software of XBMC supports Wake on LAN.Is there a Way to enable WOL in the C521? Perhaps with a BIOS update ?
By the Way is there a way to update the BIOS in Unix because I don't have a Windows Version on this HTPC?
where (in germany) can I buy a CMOS Battery because the alert that the Battery is on low Voltage annoys me
I have a Dimension 4600i that doesn't want to Wake on LAN. I am running the latest BIOS (A10), Intel Chipset Drivers, and latest Intel Pro/100 VE Drivers. I set the Network Settings to Network w. PXE and the startup sequence is CD-ROM, PXE, Hard disk. I am actually using the PXE, that is exactly what I want. My only problem is I need to do Wake on Lan for the system to wake up and PXE against my backup server. So far, no luck. I have tried numerous utilities and when I send magic packet the thing just sits there, everything else works great, the darn thing just won't come alive unless I hit the power button.
Connected my Dell laptop to the E1000 using the enclosed disk, easy install and no problems with wireless connection. Created a USB via the install disk to connect the Dell desktop (XP pro SP3). When running installing received error pop up "installation not compete" contact Linksys support for assistance. Disabled all internet connections and tried a manual installation but failed. Should I just purchase a wireless USB addapter?
I am trying to get an old computer in my church's computer lab connected to the internet. We have an ethernet cable that works (other computers can connect using it), but I cannot get the Dimension connected. It says that the Local Area Connection is enabled, but I cannot connect to the internet. I tried installing all of the ethernet drivers on the DELL website, but nothing has fixed the problem
I have dell dimension 3000 computer running windows 7 ultimate, behind dir 855 dlink router.I am thinking of upgrading my machine to wireless n but my system only supports pci only cards. Is there anywhere i can collection of pci cards.I googled but it seems pci only are in scarce supply.
Having just solved the missing network controller on my Dell Inspiron laptop I thought I would try the old Dell dimension 455-0 desktop I have. It too is missing the network controller, I can access web through wireless usb but not though cable or wireless. I have the disc but I can't install from it as I get message saying it is outdated. Tried Intel but the download ends prematurely and so doesnt work.
-Netgear router 1 -Dell Dimension 9150 - Windows XP pro SP3 (this machine, connected to router 1 using a pair of netgear powerline adapters -2 x Dell Inspiron laptops - Windows 7 Home 64bit (wireless) -iMac - OSX Snow Leopard (wireless) -Apple Time Capsule (network drive) -Several misc items (phones, iPod/iPad, Vodaphone sure signal, PS3) -Network printer -Netgear router 2 (used as wireless access point the otherside of the house, connected using a pair of netgear powerline adapters) CURRENTLY DISABLED
None of the 4 computers can see each other, but they can all print and access the Time Capsule. Now I've made sure they're all on the same workgroup and that relevant services for sharing files are running. When I try to "View workgroup computers" on the XP machine I get the error attached.
I reinstalled windows xp (reformatted c). Installed the drivers in this order: Controller, Video, Audio, Network, modem. I selected the drivers that had the check beside them on the driver disk. Now, in the device manager, there is a yellow question mark beside the ethernet card and I can't connect to my broadband connection. Wire is attached... checked that twice. I have connectivity through other computers, so internet is working in the house.
I did a fresh install of Windows XP recently on my Dell Dimension 4550 and I'm having trouble getting on the internet. In the Device manager it has the '?' next to Ethernet Controller. I've read the other articles on this site but nothing has worked as of yet.I did another fresh install of XP (2nd time) and then started with the Chipset for Intel, still nothing.
The order for drivers installation says to install the DSS utility first, but I can't seem to find it in the Drivers & Downloads section for my Dimension 4550.
My ethernet was working fine when I shut down my computer then all of a sudden it rebooted and gave me a blue screen. I rebooted it and it started but then it was not able to connect to the internet. The pci adapter driver was not there. I reinstalled it and it still would not connect. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, changed the ethernet cord for a new one and tested the new cord on a different device with no problem but stil cannot connect. It says network cable is unplugged. This happened before and the dsl technician was able to get it to work again unfortunately I have no idea how but it had something to do with the configuration.
My (home desktop Dell Dimension E310) other computer had a virus that flatlined the machine. I reinstalled the operating system from the discs provided by DELL. Now, I can't connect to my DSL. The browser wont see the http:/192.168.0.1 ActionTec router. It's plugged directly into the computer via ethernet cable. this laptop is receiving signal from the wireless portion of that router, so there has to be a signal to the computer (it was working earlier this morning prior to DELL disc reinstall).
