Having just solved the missing network controller on my Dell Inspiron laptop I thought I would try the old Dell dimension 455-0 desktop I have. It too is missing the network controller, I can access web through wireless usb but not though cable or wireless. I have the disc but I can't install from it as I get message saying it is outdated. Tried Intel but the download ends prematurely and so doesnt work.

I just formatted my hard drive and installed Windows XP from scratch. I have a Dimension E310. When I looked at the Device driver menu I saw that I didn't have an Ethernet Driver installed. I have looked all over Dells site for the correct one but, can't seem to find it on the list for my Service Tag model. Possibly I don't recognize the drivers terminology as far as the list is concerned?
I have the original Dell Resource instalation disks with various drivers on them but, I can't seem to work out how to use them.
After change my OS to Windows 7 Pro Enterprise my Dell E5430 missing the network controller driver. let me know the right driver to download and install.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently reinstalled windows 7 on my dad laptop after he <ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU> it up beyond repair. After installing the appropriate drivers I still had no detection on my w lan adapter so I checked out the device list, and it says I'm missing drivers for two things: one is the network controller, the other is just listed as an unknown device.
I already installed every driver for the appropriate devices on the laptop, in the correct order, or as i could best manage it, but still no dice. The only network driver on the disk for my inspiron is one for an Ethernet controller.
I did a fresh install of Windows XP recently on my Dell Dimension 4550 and I'm having trouble getting on the internet. In the Device manager it has the '?' next to Ethernet Controller. I've read the other articles on this site but nothing has worked as of yet.I did another fresh install of XP (2nd time) and then started with the Chipset for Intel, still nothing.
The order for drivers installation says to install the DSS utility first, but I can't seem to find it in the Drivers & Downloads section for my Dimension 4550.
I'm looking for an ethernet controller driver for a dimension E310. I went to [URL] and found all of the other drivers that I need, except this one.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI've recently been given a new modem from Virgin which is connected by a cat5 cable, however, my PC doesn't find it at all.
There doesn't seem to be a driver on the PC for it, although this may be dowon to the PC having a slight "accident" a few months ago which meant we had to reinstall XP. I don't have the utiliites disc, this wasn't a problem previously as we were able to connect our PC up via USB to the modem.
I have an old PC currently connected to the Internet trying to download the drivers from Dell's support section & tranferring these but this isn't working either.
I had to totally reinstall windows Me and all software. Now I cant connect to the internet. I can't find a device driver for the ethernet card. There are 2 devices the manager is not recognizing PCI communication device and PCI Ethernet controller.I don't seem to be able to find an exact type for either.

I got a hard-drive from a friend, and I am trying to use it with my laptop, but it is missing the Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, and the PCI Controller drivers. The problem is that the stationary pc (the one I am trying to make a server) does not appear on the "what network folder would you like to map?" part on the laptop. The server/the Dell Dimension 9200 is connected to the internet, and is fully updated through Windows updates. All the other computers in the house appear on the one laptop, but not the computer I am trying to make a server out of.

I cannot reach the networkcenter to check if anything is wrong. Sometimes after a long wait (10 minutes) I get the alert: network adapter is not available. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Dimension L733r with a Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adaptor. When I start the computer, it connects to the wireless network immediately. As I go through the day, all of a sudden I start getting "Unable to Connect to Wireless Network". I click on the popup and then click on repair. It goes through it's procedures and eventually reconnects the network. Sometimes it says "Connection Very Good" other times "Low" or even "Very Low". Several minutes later, it will do the same thing again and I go through the same procedure again. This might happen several more times then it will be okay. There are days where it never happens at all and then there are days where it happens every 10 minutes or so.

I've attempted to install WinXP drivers as I've read that it worked for others in the past... no luck for me though. I've also tried a number of different chipset drivers without any luck.

I had to Reinstall my windows Vista OS. My WNA was working prior to the OS reinstallation, so I am confused a bit. I have no idea how to reinstall drivers in order that dell gives me. I have downloaded the drivers from the Dell downloads section;however, I don't know what to do next. I tried to go to device manager and find network adapter, but it does not appear, only an "other" section with some ! marks next to them.

I have a Dimension 4600i that doesn't want to Wake on LAN. I am running the latest BIOS (A10), Intel Chipset Drivers, and latest Intel Pro/100 VE Drivers. I set the Network Settings to Network w. PXE and the startup sequence is CD-ROM, PXE, Hard disk. I am actually using the PXE, that is exactly what I want. My only problem is I need to do Wake on Lan for the system to wake up and PXE against my backup server. So far, no luck. I have tried numerous utilities and when I send magic packet the thing just sits there, everything else works great, the darn thing just won't come alive unless I hit the power button.

I have downloaded it and it looks like it installs but it never makes it to device manager? It will not install directly fron device manager. It is the only driver that will not install. I am trying to get an old computer in my church's computer lab connected to the internet. We have an ethernet cable that works (other computers can connect using it), but I cannot get the Dimension connected. It says that the Local Area Connection is enabled, but I cannot connect to the internet. I tried installing all of the ethernet drivers on the DELL website, but nothing has fixed the problem
