Well my computer is a Dimension 4550, and i bought it about a year ago. i re-installed the OS for other reasons. I have verizon DSL, and it worked perfectly before the re-installation. after, the connection was working, but I was missing the driver for the "INTEL Pro/100 VE Network Connection". I can't seem to find the driver.

In the Device manager it has the '?' next to Ethernet Controller. I've read the other articles on this site but nothing has worked as of yet.I did another fresh install of XP (2nd time) and then started with the Chipset for Intel, still nothing.
The order for drivers installation says to install the DSS utility first, but I can't seem to find it in the Drivers & Downloads section for my Dimension 4550.
I installed a new Media link MWN-WAPR150N router and I can connect two laptops and an i Pad wireless but when I try to access the Internet through a Dell Dimension 4550 desktop which is directly connected to the router, I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." I have tried unplugging the cable modem and router, downloading network drivers, repairing the connection, ip config /release and /renew, etc. and nothing has worked. The connection status shows as connected. I can ping the router successfully, but I can't ping a web site.

Kept all the disks shipped with the lappy, Prepped the HD per the media rules, loaded windows and the mediadirect and the driver resource CD.. they all had autoexecs and seem to run fine. Failed to connect to the net.. checked it out on device mgr, found the code 10 fail.. All other drivers seemed to have loaded..
tried to update the driver.. it said it already had the correct driver. - fail
DLed the Broadcom driver to a thumb and installed it - no difference. Rebooted.. several times during all this.
Read here it might be install order - thought I might try it manually. Looked for Intel T7250 drivers.. "not currently available" here.
I know now that this is a Desktop motherboard, officially not supported for Windows Server operating systems, but I would still like to get it to work. I've confirmed that the motherboard network works in WinXP (Intel 82579V Gigabit) and typically the 32-bit Windows XP drivers work on Server 2003 as well. Several of the other drivers have installed just fine, but the network driver install package fails with "No Intel Adapters are present."
I am trying to install Windows Home Server v1 (based on Windows Server 2003) on this box and just want to get a basic network driver up and running. I've checked the BIOS config, and Device Manager shows a yellow question mark by "Ethernet Controller". The ID is:

I reinstalled windows xp (reformatted c). Installed the drivers in this order: Controller, Video, Audio, Network, modem. I selected the drivers that had the check beside them on the driver disk. Now, in the device manager, there is a yellow question mark beside the ethernet card and I can't connect to my broadband connection. Wire is attached... checked that twice. I have connectivity through other computers, so internet is working in the house.

When I looked at the Device driver menu I saw that I didn't have an Ethernet Driver installed. I have looked all over Dells site for the correct one but, can't seem to find it on the list for my Service Tag model. Possibly I don't recognize the drivers terminology as far as the list is concerned?
I have the original Dell Resource instalation disks with various drivers on them but, I can't seem to work out how to use them.
I've recently been given a new modem from Virgin which is connected by a cat5 cable, however, my PC doesn't find it at all.
There doesn't seem to be a driver on the PC for it, although this may be dowon to the PC having a slight "accident" a few months ago which meant we had to reinstall XP. I don't have the utiliites disc, this wasn't a problem previously as we were able to connect our PC up via USB to the modem.

I wiped out a Dell Inspiron 2200 and re-installed Windows XP Pro SP3 on it. Everything seemed to work fine until I try re-installing the Wireless Driver. The dell support website pointed me to the Intel PorSet/Wireless 11.1.0.30, which I downloaded and installed successfully, with the only problem.... It does not work.When I open the utility it pops a message saying that the "Driver is not installed", and no signals show or anything. When I go to the device manager, the OTHER DEVICES shows a "network controller" with the yellow question mark, but when I connect to the internet (via ethernet cable) to update the driver, windows can't find nothing out there to solve the issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just reformatted my Fujitsu A6120 lifebook laptop and I downloaded all the drivers and everything installed fine except for the Intel PRO/Wireless Network Driver. I even downloaded the driver from Support Downloads. After I installed it, a notification popped up in the task bar with the Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless saying Driver is not installed. edit: in device manager, under network adapters there is only the 1394 net adapter and there are yellow exclamation marks in other devices.

However, our other desktop Dimension 510 does not appear to be receiving the wireless signal.
does it just not have the capability to receive a wireless signal and I have to use an ethernet cable connection?
Is there something I need to add in order for it to receive the sireless signal (some one mentioned an adapter but I thought an adapter just boosts the signal, and the desktop is the closest device to the network router so it should be receiveing the signal okay).
Around 2 weeks ago, there was a storm in my city that completely shut down all the power for around 5 minutes. After we got the power back, I connected all the wires in the router again and tested the connection on my desktop. The internet was not connecting at all. Every few seconds a message that says "A network cable is unplugged" pops up and then it goes to Acquiring network address.I thought maybe the storm damaged the card. My father called IT Support from his office and told me to check for a light blinking next to the ethernet port at the back of the PC. IT said that if the light was flashing, then it wasn't a problem with the network card.I changed the Link Speed to every different option. No luck. I tried the Repair command. It shows up with a message saying that the IP address couldn't be renewed. I even updated all the drivers.I'm at a loss here.It's a Dell Dimension 9100 with Windows XP SP3.

I have inherited a Dell dimension 2350 and connecting it (preferably wifi) via my Sky broadband router so that my daughter can use it in herr bedroom.
The 2350 has come with a netgear GG834G v4 modem/router and relevant ethernet/phone cables and all cds etc. and runs xp. Is the netgear now redundant?
At present, I use an old inspiron 6000 laptop with a wifi connection to Sky.
Cable modem connected directly to a Dell Vostro laptop works fine. Same cable reconnected to Dell Dimension 4700 is not working. This has all been working fine for years - usually I have a wireless network with the 4700 connected to the router by Ethernet cable, and the Vostro connected by wireless, but I have removed the router to close in on the problem.First, I am not sure if my ip settings are correct. I tried to use the network setup wizard to create an internet connection via a cable plugged into back of pc but the wizard says that it can not detect network hardware. It too is missing the network controller, I can access web through wireless usb but not though cable or wireless. I have the disc but I can't install from it as I get message saying it is outdated. The problem is that the stationary pc (the one I am trying to make a server) does not appear on the "what network folder would you like to map?" part on the laptop. The server/the Dell Dimension 9200 is connected to the internet, and is fully updated through Windows updates. All the other computers in the house appear on the one laptop, but not the computer I am trying to make a server out of.

I cannot reach the networkcenter to check if anything is wrong. Sometimes after a long wait (10 minutes) I get the alert: network adapter is not available. The only option is to power down the computer and to power on again. Usually then I have internetacces. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Dimension L733r with a Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adaptor. When I start the computer, it connects to the wireless network immediately. As I go through the day, all of a sudden I start getting "Unable to Connect to Wireless Network". I click on the popup and then click on repair. It goes through it's procedures and eventually reconnects the network. Sometimes it says "Connection Very Good" other times "Low" or even "Very Low". Several minutes later, it will do the same thing again and I go through the same procedure again. This might happen several more times then it will be okay. There are days where it never happens at all and then there are days where it happens every 10 minutes or so.

My friend has a dell d600 with the built in intel wireless card. All of a sudden his computer no longer shows that there is a wireless interface in the computer and he needs this computer for work. I'm thinking the driver may need to be reinstalled but I'm not entirely sure if it's that or a hardware error that's causing this malfunction.
