View 1 RepliesI have a Vostro 460 desktop, recently bought, and then realized it would be better to add wireless router. Bought router and a PCIe wireless mini card that was suggested for my PC on Dell order site. The card arrived and am trying to install. The end plate with the aerial socket is not compatible with the removable access blanks in rear of case. Have I been sent an incorrect or unsuitable card, or is there some trick or adapting needed to install this card?

I've just had a custom computer built and I seem to have a problem with my wireless internet connection. I have a Realtek 8185 extensible 802.11b/g wireless adapter. My computer recognizes my house's network and is connected to the internet with a good connection, but when I open up my web browser it takes a very long time for the page to load and sometimes never does. The laptop I'm on right now is connected to the same internet and it is running just fine. I've uninstalled the device and rebooted to have the driver reinstalled but the problem still occurs.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron desktop with Dell Wireless 1506 802.11b/g/n card. This PC is fairly new - purchased in October 2012. Most of the time the wireless connection is fine, although the signal is weaker than it should be (about 2 bars). Occasionally however the wireless signal drops to one bar or less, or is completely lost. The result is loss of internet connection. Restarting the PC will often restore the connection, although the signal level remains low. This is very surprising as other 802.11b/g laptops and PCs, sitting on the same desk in the same room, will show a strong wireless signal of 4-5 bars. I have measured the wireless network strength in that room using a laptop with inSSIDer and it seems just fine. So I don't believe the problem is in the wifi signal strength.
The wireless access point is a Motorola surfboard b/g cable modem that is located about 25 feet from the Dell PC. That cable modem is reporting excellent signal levels on the coaxial cable to the street, so the problem is not in the access point. Connection speed when tested from other PCs/laptops on that network is just fine.
I am wondering if there is some sort of intermittent hardware problem in the Dell wireless adapter that might be causing this problem. Or some sort of software conflict.
I have a Dell Desktop Dimension E520 with a Windows 7 operating system. Up until a couple of days ago I was able to connect to the internet. I have the router connected to the computer via an ethernet cable. Now if does not detect any wireless routers in my vicinity and there were 7 others. I have a belkin G router.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell XPS 410 desktop PC purchased in 2006 now running Windows 7 (32-bit) that is hard-wired to D-Link 825 dual band N router.
The Problem- The desktop, when actively using the internet, will randomly lose connection to the Internet, then by just waiting, it re-acquires a connection. When it does this it sometimes also disconnects other laptops that are wirelessly connected through the same router, or at least slows them way down. Also similarly effects a hard-wired X-Box 360 (either loses connection all together or, the games start to severely lag) much to the disdain of my game playing kids.

My desktop wont connect to the internet but my laptops will? This has never happened before. I have tried resetting the modem and router by unplugging them and then plugging them back in, with no results.

Connected my Dell laptop to the E1000 using the enclosed disk, easy install and no problems with wireless connection. Created a USB via the install disk to connect the Dell desktop (XP pro SP3). When running installing received error pop up "installation not compete" contact Linksys support for assistance. Disabled all internet connections and tried a manual installation but failed. Should I just purchase a wireless USB addapter?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell XPS 8300 desktop and have been having issues with the modem connecting to the wireless network just fine but, I'm not able to access the internet. This has only occurred over the last 24 hours and is frustrating. I've read some other recent posts and have gone back and done the System Restore to before the installation of Windows Updates a day or so ago and that has worked twice today. But I'm not a PC expert and I would like to know how I could resolve this issue permanently without having to undo the updates with System Restore every time I power up and log in. How do I figure out what setting is being undone to disconnect the internet connection from my XPS 8300?

I bought a new router for faster internet speed - Netgear N600. I now have internet on the two laptops, the Kindle Fire HD & my Iphone. I cannot access the internet on the desktop. It shows that I am connected to an unidentified network but I can't get online. The techs I talked to said it's a problem with my computer but I didn't have that problem before.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been happily using a desktop PC wired into a router (using an ethernet cable) as well as a laptop that connects wirelessly to the router. This setup has been working fine since I started with it a few weeks ago.
On Friday evening the desktop PC stopped being able to connect to the internet and hasn't been working since. The laptop is able to connect fine wirelessly.
The router light seems to indicate that the ethernet connection is ok. I've tried connecting wirelessly from the desktop PC but that doesn't work either - the Netgear wireless usb adaptor won't open from within Windows as it usually would do.
Nothing has changed to the hardware setup (I've checked all connections) so I wonder if this is a software problem caused by a virus or maybe by Windows updates?

WLan Driver 1703 was duly installed after the Chipset driver were installed , as recommended.Other mobile devices happily connect to same router. Ubuntu on this laptop was also happy to connect to internet on WLAN, only Win7 fails.
Turned off Win7 firewall , but no change. Shows unidentified connection in Network and Sharing Center. Router SSID etc were correctly entered. Deleted WLAN profile and reentered , no change.
Tried to connect to another wireless router with same result. I can only run this laptop on wired connection to the router. I am at a loss as to what other steps I could take to fix this WLan / internet connection.

I have a Sony VAIO desktop, 5 years old running windows XP. Recently, I started getting ntoskrnl32 missing and refused to boot. My local computer guy said that it is a hard disk problem and ended up putting new hard disks and reinstalled XP. But I keep internet connection after about 5-10 minutes. If I disable and enable "Local Area Connection" it works for sometime and stops again. I have a Cisco wireless router that I use. I use that to browse with my iPhone as well.
