I have last version of Linux installed.Then I realized that I have no INTERNET connection.looking for a long time I found out the Linux does not recognize the wireless. is that not possible because this does not give for Linux!
View 8 RepliesI've an Inspiron 1521 with Dell wireless minicard 1505, running Vista that was running fine except for 'BCM42RLY service failed to start, can't find file' messages logged in the event log, so I thought I would stop that by uninstalling the device driver and re-installing a later version. So I *deleted* when I did the un-install (didn't want any nasty bits left behind) and re-installed the later R174292 drivers. Install went ok, and device manager likes it too, no nasty exclamation marks and it does say "This device is working properley"! On dear, the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility tells me different, it says "There are currently no wirelss adapaters available and enabled". When you try to 'connect to a network' it too reports "Windows cannot find any networks".
Done "SFC /scannow" just in case, and no probs reported.
I seem to have deleted something really important when I nuked the driver, that R174292 did not replace? Needless to say I cannot roll back the driver! And, just to be sure, that little 'ole network switch on the side of the 'old lappie is firmly ON!
find a Driver for the NIC for windows 8 64 bit Pro. I have a Dell Latitude E6410 and the driver from Microsoft worked for the most part but I was having issues connecting to my Windows phone 8 device (Nokia 920). First I though it was my phone but when I tried other devices like my Surface I could connect with no problem. I am also running Windows 7 32 bit, when I boot up that OS I had no issues connecting to my phone. I also had issues with stable connections to my 5Ghz Wi-Fi access point. Well if any of these symptoms sound like something that you been going through then check this driver out. I used the 43224AGN 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 driver and now everything seems to work.

- I can confirm that the WLAN component is activated in BIOS. Actually, it worked just fine running Windows 7 until yesterday.
- After a clean Win8 install the missing component is enlisted as "Network Controller"
- Installing the "Dell Dell Wireless 1901 802.11a/b/g/n (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Dell Wireless 1901 Bluetooth" driver from your website (Network_Atheros_W8_A00_Setup-92GWH_ZPE.exe) didn't change anything,, the device is still missing its driver and thus not working.

As the same GPS works without problem with the D610 my presumption has been the issue is a BT stack issue on the D600 BT implementation.

How can I get a driver for this wireless modem? My netgear failed completely. I am using a neighbour's connection to get on to the internet, and tried to download a driver, but every link I could find wanted to search my computer for the hardware. Ridiculous! View 1 Replies View RelatedOk, so what I want to do is make a router/firewall/proxy (maybe add webserver/FTP as well). Just to start off I want to say that I have moderate knowledge of Linux, enough to administer it from the CL. I have setup routers before but it was years ago and I've forgotten some of the details involved. What I do is a base LAMP install, with DNS, Samba, DHCP server, OpenSSH and then Webmin for easier administration. I've also installed EHCP (easy hosting control panel) in the past but have not at this point.
So, what I want to know is how do I setup the NIC's in the etc/network/interfaces file. Let's say that eth0 connects to the modem and eth1 & 2 are internal adapters. Currently my network is running a Linksys WRT54GL with DD-WRT and the router is set to DHCP for the WAN connection and DHCP is running on the internal network as well. The modem is at 192.168.254.254 and is giving the router an address of 192.168.254.1 my internal network is 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.0/24). I would like to setup my internal router address to 192.168.1.1 so I guess I need to set it to static in my interfaces config and then set my eth0 to dhcp. Does this sound correct?
So if I do the above my only question is how do I setup the routing tables after that? I always get messed up when I need to make the switch from my Linksys router to my Linux box. I'm not worried about firewall rules at first I can change those once I have the router up and running. I just don't know if I need to make some kind of bridge to bridge the eth0 and eth1 (external NIC and internal NIC).
I have a Dell Studio XPS 16 laptop. I'm very annoyed by how my wireless WLAN card won't turn on.
I've tried pressing the WLAN enable key above the keypad next to the other media keys and it won't show it as being enabled.
I've tried the Fn+F2 combination and it doesn't seem to do anything. It keeps saying that the WLAN card is still not enabled!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio 1537 running on Windows Vista? my computer stopped being able to connect to the internet a few days ago and a "Dell Wireless WLAN Controller closed and stopped working" (or something along those lines) box would keep on popping up. I did some reading around on the internet and decided that maybe I needed to update the "drivers" for it so I went to the Dell website and downloaded the most recent version for my Dell Wireless 1510 WLAN mini card...that didn't seem to work any after I installed it. So I went ahead and uninstalled it (I assume I must have uninstalled something I shouldn't have) and now I'm stuck at the same problem. I can't connect to the internet!In Network Connections, it continually says that "Windows cannot find any networks". In Device Manager, under Network Adapters, it doesn't list the card there, although it lists "Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet". And from some suggestions I found on the net, I tried ipconfig/all in the comand promt and it says "media disconnected".

View 25 Replies View RelatedI have a Latitude E6400 that I had to rebuild due to a hard drive failure, with a Dell 1510 WLAN card installed. Upon reinstalling the Dell WLAN Card Utility however, I now receive the following prompt every time I log into my machine:“Reminder: The Dell Wireless WLAN Card is still disabled. Slide the Wireless ON/OFF switch to enable it.”
I am able to connect to wireless networks without any issues, and when enabled it works great. I do however like to keep my wireless radio off when I am not using it. I certainly don’t need the software to tell me that my WLAN card is disabled when I already know that it is. How do I disable this message from coming up each time I log in? I don’t see any options in the software to simply disable reminders, however I don’t want to disable the software from loading altogether.
So I just got this Linksys E1500 wireless N router in hopes that I would get a better signal within my room as opposed to my older router. Unfortunately, nothing has changed, in fact I think I'm getting weaker signals. My previous router was a D-Link WBR-2310. I went to speed test.net and tested 3 variables. My wifi on my desktop in my room, my wifi when right next to a router on my laptop, and my wifi using my neighbors wifi in my room.
What is the point of this new wireless N router, when it can't beat a G router older model in reach? And why does is have a 0.50 mb d/l speed but a 3.6 upload speed?
I have a Inspiron 9400/E1705 laptop with the Dell Wireless 1500 802.11n WLan card when I try to use the utility I get an error message that the internal settings are bad and to restart the computer to fix. It does not fix this. I am currently using the windows wireless to control the card. Is there a way to fix this, It used to work fine just when I downloaded the R151519 update now even when I use a previous update I still get this error. AP's are configured properly. Under the setting in device manager I can see the rate setting for 802.11(b/g), but not n. If this card is not 'n' compatiable why state that it is.
