I have a Dell laptop prob about 3 years old. Never had any problems connecting to any internet. Recently bought a dongle and all been fine but now the computer will not connect to any internet it has also lost all options of available connections.

Both connections work for other devices, so the problem is not the source. The problem is specifically my laptop. It says that it is connected, but both Chrome and IE show error pages (i.e. Site not found, dns lookup failed, etc.)

View 15 Replies View RelatedI finally moved on from my Dell Latitude, I purchased a Lenovo today.Just set up Windows 7 on it, but I am having a real problem...I have looked everywhere on the Internet for a fix and can't seem to find it.I am trying to connect to my home network, belkin54g, but am being told "No Internet access." Under Device Manager, I have two network adapters listed, a Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter and a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller. My network is set up as such...My dad's Mac has the router/modem wired to it, and every other computer connects wirelessly. MY connection is set up as a Windows 7 "Home" network. When hovering over the wireless icon thing at the bottom right of the screen, it gives the network name in bold, then No Internet access in italics right below. I am connected to the home network for sure though, because when I view devices on this network, I see my brothers laptop listed. Most recently I tried to do a Winsock reset from the Command Prompt, but it didn't work.

My laptop, Dell inspiron m5030, for some reason has stopped connecting to my wireless Internet, yet my iPad can. I have tried dissconnecting from the Internet and connecting again but it just keeps saying it can't, Even the troubleshooting diagnoses doesn't work and I have already tried disconnecting the wireless Ethernet from the outlet and restarted it but,it doesn't work. to get my laptop to start connecting to the Internet fully today!

It will not connect to the internet at a Bloodbank I visit twice a week. It will connect to their wireless network, and gets a strong signal, but no internet. Other people at this facility seen to have no problem connecting to the internet. I tried downloading updated drivers for my wireless card, but it said I already had the latest drivers. I have turned off my firewall and changed to the lowest security settings. I don't know what to do.

When I go to Network and Sharing Center it shows a drawing of my PC and then a green line to "Identifying" and a line with an X to Internet. It also says my access is local only.

I have used the dongle many times on this laptop without issue and the dongle still works on my other laptop fine. The message "this computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured" popped up. So I tried to plug in a an ethernet cable and it still wont let me connect to the internet! In my device manager bar under other devices a network controller is there with a yellow excplanation point. I've tried downloading software from Dell's web site, I bought (and returned) and USB to Ethernet cable, only to find out that it was a model ahead of what this machine needs.I've asked local repair place (Microcenter) what it might be, but they'll only tell me after I pay $70 just to open it up.Another repair guy said that it is probably the motherboard and it wasn't worth fixing. I have even removed all security and have it set as an "Open" network to see if this will resolve and still the Dell is unable to connect. View 14 Replies View RelatedI�m trying to get an old Dell XP laptop (g wireless adapter) working with my new Net gear (wndr3400) dual band router and hit a wall. No problems on my tower. No problems with a newer Dell laptop with an adapter or a grandson�s iPhone using the guest SSID. No problems with the TV on the 5.0G side of dual band router using same passphrase key. I see the router/SSID I want but cannot connect. I do not get a prompt for the passphrase/WEP key. I tried to follow instructions from a MS site that seemed to cover my exact problem but the behavior of the Wireless Network display does not follow the script.
Here�s what I do:
1.Right click Wireless Network Connection icon bottom right of screen
2.Select View Available Wireless Network Connections
3.Locate desired SSID/router with 5 bars (from router) and double click. Reads �this network requires a network key. It should because I assigned one. 9 ascii, 2 numeric 11 chars total-WPA2-FSK (AES)
4.Click Connect in bottom right of window
5.Entry for the desired router now says validating identity and a pop up box bottom right says windows was unable to find a certificate to log you into the network xxxx where xxx is my SSID.
6.This will sit there saying validating identity for 2-3 hrs with no results.
7.There was never a prompt for Passphrase /WEP key!
If I open up Wireless Network Connections display and select Properties then Wireless Networks tab, select my router connection (only one there) then properties, it shows WEP but network key fields are grayed out. A little bit earlier they were not and I could enter the 11char key but it rejected it as too short. I used to use this laptop for years with an older Lynksys g router.
I deleted my browsing history cookies etc then turned comp off. Next morning i turned it on and wouldnt connect .I finally got it to connect no idea how but turned it off again and now cant connect . I have Windows vista , Dell 1737 2 other laptops connected by wifi and 2 XBOXs hardwired to router so I know it works .
I get that the computer is to far error or message which cant be it worked fine for MONTHS and Now I am right next to router hardwired to it ! The only thing I really did was change the Computers name ( Where you sign in the very beginning when you turn comp on ) Other then that I havent done anything to it.
I received my Inspiron 7520 recently and when I opened the box and turned I realized that it was connected to my led tv and I could play movies on tv from a flash disk connected to my laptop.

It has Windows 8 preloaded, I am not able to connect to my WiFi network, while I am able to connect using my other devices.
The WiFi network in getting detected and the signal strength is full as well, when I give the password and click connect, it tries to verify and connect for a long time, finally say "Can't connect to this network".
I know the wifi in the laptop works, i know the laptop has no issues.I know this because i switched my hard drive from my 1330 to this laptop which is also a 1330...connects and works fine.Wifi IS turned on In device manager the driver is ok no exclamation marks anywhere When i try and connect with the ethernet i get identifying no network access, then it says currently connected to unidentified network, no network access! You cannot browse.So that being said it must be in the setting with windows 7.I uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi driver it did not make any difference.I also tried using a Ethernet connection and it would not connect either.When i use the win 7 trubleshooter it states a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.Remember this laptop functions fine with my hard drive in it with windows xp.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was given a dell latitude cpx laptop running windows xp recently with wireless b network adapter. My modem/router is a 2wire gateway DSL . When I brought the laptop home, it did not connect to my wireless network. It was able to find my ssid though, and the signal was weak even if I was close to the modem/router. Anway, someone suggested I switch from WPA to WEP encryption because old network adapters can only detect wep encryption ( or something like that) . So I did, and still no internet connection. i tried to ping yahoo.com and still not working. My DNS and Ip adress are set to automatic and still no internet. This laptop doesn't have an LAN port, so i guess it connects through internet wirelessly only. Someone also suggested i update my drivers for wireless adapter but i don't have the original disc that came along with it. This laptop was able to connect without problem before from a different network but not mine like a week ago.. I also have2 other laptops within this network and I never had a problem with it connecting wirelessly.

I have turned on the wifi button which is placed on top of the keyboard on one of my function keys, i have noticed an exclamation mark next to my wireless adapter in the device manager menu and it says the device is not working properly.
