i bought a dell XPS L412Z laptop with an Intel centrino advanced-N 6230 wireless adapter about a month ago, but ever since i bought the machine it has never detected any WiFi or wireless connections in my area. I tried all i know but it still does not detect or connect to a wireless or WiFi network.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was given a dell latitude cpx laptop running windows xp recently with wireless b network adapter. My modem/router is a 2wire gateway DSL . When I brought the laptop home, it did not connect to my wireless network. It was able to find my ssid though, and the signal was weak even if I was close to the modem/router. Anway, someone suggested I switch from WPA to WEP encryption because old network adapters can only detect wep encryption ( or something like that) . So I did, and still no internet connection. i tried to ping yahoo.com and still not working. My DNS and Ip adress are set to automatic and still no internet. This laptop doesn't have an LAN port, so i guess it connects through internet wirelessly only. Someone also suggested i update my drivers for wireless adapter but i don't have the original disc that came along with it. This laptop was able to connect without problem before from a different network but not mine like a week ago.. I also have2 other laptops within this network and I never had a problem with it connecting wirelessly.

I have looked at several posts and tried them but nothing has worked so far. I unplugged the router and reset. I know I am missing something. It has Windows 8 preloaded, I am not able to connect to my WiFi network, while I am able to connect using my other devices.
The WiFi network in getting detected and the signal strength is full as well, when I give the password and click connect, it tries to verify and connect for a long time, finally say "Can't connect to this network".
i have a Inspiron 15R (N5010) laptop and I have problems connecting with my wifi connection. i'm not able to find any network connections available but there are plenty in my building and i cannot connect to my network using my friend's laptop. I have turned on the wifi button which is placed on top of the keyboard on one of my function keys, i have noticed an exclamation mark next to my wireless adapter in the device manager menu and it says the device is not working properly. I dont have an ethernet cable so i cannot connect to the internet.

So I don't think it is the router. I have tried to reinstall the router. And the PC tells me there is a network available, but it will not connect. My question is... Can the wifi card be bad? View 20 Replies View RelatedMy wife just bought a new Dell Intel Centrino. I can't seem to get it to connect properly to the wireless router/modem. It is a Netgear cg814wg v2. The wireless status shows that the computer is connected to the internet. But yet the only thing I can seem to do is searches on Google. Any other site that I try to visit does not open. If I plug the laptop into the modem directly with a Ethernet cable it works flawlessly. So it seems that the laptop can communicate with other computers on the network, but I just don't have any internet. Or very limited internet. And I've tried this in both IE and Google Chrome.
I'm not a computer/wireless network genius, but I've spent hours trying to troubleshoot this issue with no success. I've reset the modem. Unplugged the modem. Typed config/all and all the other ones I found suggested online in the command prompt. Checked the settings on the modem itself and on the laptop. I Still can't seem to get it to work. I have 3 other computers in my house that all work just fine wireless. They are all older computers with XP on them. I also found out that the wireless adapter in the laptop is a N 1030 adapter. But I don't know if that is compatible with my modem or not.
Well I became convinced that the problem was with the Netgear itself and I needed a newer model. I contacted Comcast whom supplies the modem for me and told them my situation. She basically told me that I needed to contact Dell Technical Support to see if the laptop was set up or equipped with what it needed to be used with my Netgear setup. Well, she said something that sounded a lot better than that.
I have a dell latitude d610 laptop...until last night, I had no problems connecting my laptop to the wireless router...then..I'm not sure what happened, but I can't connect anymore. My daughter has the same kind of laptop and has absolutely no problems with connecting...so, it has to be something with mine. It's like it doesn't know that there is a wireless connection available.

So how do I go about fixing that? Like I said I can't connect to any wireless networks. When ever I open the lid to the laptop it takes 5-10 mins before it will automatically connect to a network. Diagnose this network does not find anything, nor provides any troubleshooting. Typically if I open the network connections center and disable the wireless, let it sit for 30 secs or so, and re-enable, it will finally connect.
I know it's not my router, as the laptop does the same thing at work, and multiple different friends house.
I've confirmed that DHCP is set to automatic connect. I've also checked Device Manager/Network adapters/ and unchecked the box "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
I have Inspiron 1525 with Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller. After reformat, the network will not detect wireless modem after I think I have downloaded all pertinent drivers. In Device Manager, under Other Devices, The Network Controller shows an exclamation mark that under Device Status says, "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver." I have turned on the button on the left of the laptop and still missing something.Prior to the reformat everything was working well. I had the Blue Screen of death andthat's the reason for the reformat.

I have my laptop setup to sleep when lid is closed. When it awakens the wireless connection will not automatically reconnect and I have to manually select the SSID and connect. It will also reconnect if I use the network troubleshooter. The problem does not happen if I reboot the PC or start from a power off situation. I have the latest Dell driver and I am running the DWLAN utility.

It might work for a little bit ( sometimes an hour, sometimes only a few minutes) but then it will completely refuse to connect. The wireless LAN is enabled, it even shows full signal on the laptop it just will not connect. The LAN is enable but the button for it is blinking, I don't remember it blinking before. I'm not sure if that could be the problem. As its connecting it just says " waiting for the network" and that happens for about a minute then it just disappears.

It just says the connection is local only. Every once in a while it will connect for a reason I don't know, but when I try it again the next day, it won't work. I'm not running any firewall but Windows Firewall. This problem has only cropped up recently. At first, I was only having the problem with public wifi networks -- at home, using my own wireless router, there was no trouble. Then I deleted my home wireless profile as a troubleshooting procedure, and I can no longer connect to it, either.

Both connections work for other devices, so the problem is not the source. The problem is specifically my laptop. It says that it is connected, but both Chrome and IE show error pages (i.e. Site not found, dns lookup failed, etc.)
