View 5 RepliesI have a XPS M1210 laptop running Windows XP. It has a Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Net adapter for wireless connection. Following a recent reinstall of windows XP, my wireless no longer works. The Intel Proset / Wireless software is controlling the wireless connection and it indicates that the wireless is turned off. It states that I should use the wireless On/Off switch to enable it. I can find no such switch to enable the wireless.
I have seen that the Fn + F2 combinaion should toggle the switch, but it does not work on my system. In the device manager, everything seems to be installed and working correctly. In Control Panel / Network Connections, the Intel Pro/Wireless is shown for the wireless Network Connection, but it is shown as not connected.how to turn on the adapter so that I can make a wireless connection?
Have Dell Inspiron 6000 (XP SP3) and Dell XPS M1210 (Vista). Both were working fine through my home network WiFi. Now only the M1210 is working. The 6000 shows that I have a connection (with strong signal) but it won't connect to the internet anymore. (The M1210 still works fine - connects to internet.) I went back to several restore points on the 6000 but it didn't work. Rebooted and check everything I could think of but didn't resolve problem.

Alternatively, if there is another Bluetooth adapter that I can install internally in the M1210 that supports Bluetooth 2.1 or which is known to work with the Logitech Boombox?
The 355 adapter's software successfully finds the boombox but cannot connect. And if I try to pair the device, the 355 software insists on a security key, but I don't think the Logitech Boombox requires or has one. I have tried obvious candidates like "0000", "000", "00", "0" and "0001", etc., but I suspect that this is a dead-end path.
I installed the following software patches for the 355 adapter per the Dell drivers and downloads website:
Dell_Wireless-355-Bluetooth-_A01_R127314.exe and R159805.EXE.

When I connect the computer to internet via ethernet the connection is stable. When I run a diagnostics on the wireless card all pass, except the internet IP ping. I get the following message:

I have installed latest driver for the 1397 mini wireless card, albeit a couple of years old.
The wireless router I am using is Netgear Rangemax Dual Band DGND3300v2. I can get into the router administration area but am at a loss as to how to reset/re-install it.
I was able to go onto the internet with no problem. I've been searching forums trying to solve my problem but to no avail. I have Windows XP installed, I can connect to the LAN network but I cannot go online. I can ping the gateway but not the DNS as well as other address name or ip address. But if I assign it one, with same gateway and dns(not a duplicate ip of others), it can ping internally, and outside. I can do tracert to 8.8.8.8 and ping it (google DNS). Since I have undertaken this task, I have run into nothing but problems. First off it was finding that the previous owner had left a password on it, having to purchase a new USB to DB9 adapter to pass the "break" sequence to the router, and then resetting the router in ROM Monitor mode.
Now, I cannot seem to configure the router correctly, and am quite stumped.
My ISP is Charter (cable internet), and the home network that I am using consists of a Motorola SBV5122 Digital Voice Modem, Motorola SB6120 Cable modem, and, ideally, should also include my Cisco 871W router.
When I connect my router to the SB6120 Cable modem, the router receives an IP address via DHCP and the WAN indicator light turns on.
I have a VLAN configured on the 4 switchports of the router, and it is setep to act as a DHCP server. However, when I connect my PC to rhe router via Cat5e Crossover cable, I cannot access the internet. The router gives the PC an IP address, yet all attempts to ping the PC from the router fail. Somehow, I can connect to the router via SSH though.
Furthermore, I can ping the 127.0.0.1 loopback address from my PC, but cannot do so from the router.
how to correctly configure this router to function as intended in my network situation, however, this is proving to be seemingly unsurmountable!

I tried more than once, but then it started loading only text on the left side of the page and I couldn't use it practically. This happened also with Yahoo, but I didn't see it happening with some other websites, they work totally normally.I stress I have tried clearing the whole cache and history of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, system restore, check of sfc.exe, creation of new user account, running of an Ubuntu LIVE CD, uninstallation of all browsers and installation of the latest versions once again, changing of the MTU to 1500, turning off my router and antenna but unfortunately nothing has worked till now.What wonders me is that Facebook works normally on my laptop which uses wireless connection provided by the same router and antenna.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI finally moved on from my Dell Latitude, I purchased a Lenovo today.Just set up Windows 7 on it, but I am having a real problem...I have looked everywhere on the Internet for a fix and can't seem to find it.I am trying to connect to my home network, belkin54g, but am being told "No Internet access." Under Device Manager, I have two network adapters listed, a Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter and a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller. My network is set up as such...My dad's Mac has the router/modem wired to it, and every other computer connects wirelessly. MY connection is set up as a Windows 7 "Home" network. When hovering over the wireless icon thing at the bottom right of the screen, it gives the network name in bold, then No Internet access in italics right below. I am connected to the home network for sure though, because when I view devices on this network, I see my brothers laptop listed. Most recently I tried to do a Winsock reset from the Command Prompt, but it didn't work.
