HP Pavilion Dv9000 Windows Vista Wireless Networking Hardware?
Mar 24, 2011
i own a HP Pavilion dv9000 windows vista operating system and just a couple of days ago i was able to connect to wireless connections that were in range. The WLAN switch would always turn blue when i turned it on but yesterday morning when i turned on the switch the blue light was now orange and its been like that since? So i clicked to diagnose the problem and it said "Install wireless networking hardware!"
I have been looking for a new wireless Card for my HP Pavilion dv9000 Laptop. When I inquired to HP Service they gave me a Part number: 441086-001 which translated to a Broadcom Wireless mini PCI 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN card (Intel, KDRN). This turned out to be an upgrade but only to Wireless "N-Draft".
I was hoping to get something in the Wireless "N" dual Band Certified etc. etc.. In other words something designed AFTER the Wireless "N" Standard was finalized in 2007 ( I believe)... tell me if Cisco makes a third Party Internal Wireless Card that will fit into my HP Pavilion dv9000 Laptop and bring the wireless capabilities up to current Standards....
I have a Hp Pavilion dv9000 that is connected to [code] I phoned up my internet provider who ran a series of test on my laptop and they said it was my laptop that was the problem not the router itself. Tests included some sort of number entry on intenernet explorer "192.6.10020" and i also connected the laptop to the internet with a wire which WORK :) But doesnt continue to work once i disconnect the wire. My internet provider said it was definitely down to my laptop. [code]
On my desk in my basement I have two computers, one HP Pavilion running Windows 7, and a Dell Precision running Windows Vista. Now I was wondering if it is possible to share the internet received on the HP to the Dell by the ethernet connections?
I was just at a "customer's" house doing some virus removals and what not. After I was done he asked me if I would network his printer to his 3 pc's throughout the house. 2 of the computers worked fine with the printer, but the one laptop (HP dv9000 running Vista 64 bit) wouldn't print unless I restarted it. I could click print, the job would go to the print queue, but that's it. It'd just stay there until I shut down the laptop and restarted it. Soon as vista would boot back up the job would automatically go on through and start printing.
I just got a new computer at work and it has Windows 8 on it. My old computer ran on XP and was connected to two different computers with access to the My Documents folder on each computer. That is all I need access to. I have tried everything to get my new computer set up so that I can have access to those two folders as they are extremely important for my job. I mapped the network drives from both computers to my new one and they access to my computer. When I worked from the Windows 8 computer and tried to access those computers I received an error message saying that access was denied and to contact my network administrator. I have access to other folders on the XP and Vista computer except the folder that I need to get into. I have brought in two different people who do freelance work and neither one was able to figure this problem out. For four days that I have been unable to properly do my job and I have just been emailing files and documents to myself. The XP and Vista computer do not need networked together either.
a friend of mine has a USB printer (no WiFi and no Ethernet port) and is trying to use the printer from two different computers, without success. He turned to me for advice but I'm not really much use with networks. He's got the printer wired via the USB to his Windows 7 computer and that can print fine. But his Windows Vista computer shows the printer as offline no matter what he does. Both computers connect wirelessly to a router and have working internet connections. Both computers have the drivers and software installed (Epson RX520) and if he connects the Vista computer directly the printer via USB it works fine too. Both computers have fille and printer sharing activated. He just can't get it all networked together. He says it all used to network fine when he had his old desktop running XP but since replacing it with a Windows 7 system it will only work on one Computer or the other, not both.
I have an HP Pavilion PC and am running Windows Vista. My browser is IE. Recently, I have noticed a RED X over the wireless icon on the lower right section indicating that I am not connected to the internet however, I am. In the last couple days my connection has actually started dropping off while in use.
I have an HP Pavillion laptop with vista that can't connect to my home network. I've never had a problem connecting to any other networks public or private but for some reason everytime I try to connect to my home network it only lets me connect locally with no internet access. When i try to repair the connection it just comes up with Cannot communicate with primary DNS Server(24.159.193.40)
i have a wifimodem router so enabling the wireless access on the setting allows for both the desktop an laptop 2 have internet my problem is i wanna network the 2 system wirelessly using the regular options on my xpdesktop so to access files from either pc once connect what are the steps to go about to use this??the last ting i tried was wireless network on my xp ssytem did the flash drive ting it was accepted on the laptop but on the workplace computer only my system was showin up an not the laptop so i tink the workgroup on both system are called dif names
I have just spent an hour with TalkTalk technical support being told that the new router they supplied today can only be used wirelessly for Vista or W7 but not both together. Am i going mad. Both connect to the router but my Vista laptop will not connect to the internet and will only show as an unidentified public network.
I am using Windows Vista.I work in a small office and our old computer guy set up our network. Not sure why, but he "hid" the two available wireless networks so they do not show up as available. How do I go about "unhiding" them? He left a folder on my computer that says "main router config" but it is a .bin file and I cannot open it. I did find out what our IP address is, but when I type it in the URL it does not show up.
I have had this issue for a while now and i have attempted many things even restoring Windows back to factory settings. My HP Windows laptop connects fine to my BT home hub 3 via wireless with no issues but the ethernet connection just recognises a local network and has no internet connectivity.my ethernet connection just never gets an IP address and always assigns itself a 169.x.x.x address.Originaly thinking it may be a hardware issue i booted into a Linux live cd to double check and the ethernet connection worked with no issues at all.I have tried numeorus things to try and resolve it-updated drivers / alternative drivers reset TCP/IP restored windows back to factory installation assiginged static IP address removed anti virus / firewall software different router
I'm having trouble connecting wirelessly with my hp pavilion laptop, running on Windows 7. I just moved and am using a new modem and linksys router. I know the router works fine because my pc (also windows 7) connects just fine. Also, when I take my laptop to a different wireless network, (i.e. coffee shop, library, etc.) it works fine. I am able to get an ethernet connection, just not wirelessly. Windows diagnostics gets me nowhere.
I have a new HP Pavilion g7 running Windows 7. I have a desktop running Windows XP wired to a TEW432BRP router. SEveral wireless devices run on the wireless (Ipod, playstation, Acer netbook) When I turn on the switch for wireless connectivitiy on the HP notebook (still not connected to the Internet) all my other computers and device disconnect from the Internet. The Internet cycles on and off until I switch the wireless switch off and everything reconnects. If I try to connect the notebook to the network it will eventually after 15-20 tries connect. The Internet connection at that point becomes stable and everything is connected. If the notebook sleeps, everything disconnects again.I have tried changing both the dynamic and static IP address. I have download updates for BIOS and the network adaptor. On the notebook, I have changed the Internet protocol to use just 4
when i was surfing the internet like i normally did, the internet connection suddenly stop. i checked the connection and it said that it couldnt find the network. my wireless switch is on so i don't know what the problem is.
My computer is one that I built with windows vista, and for the wireless connection I am using a USB adaptor. I am not too sure what other info I need to put here.My connection used to drop frequently (around every 5 min) and I would have really slow speeds (10ish kb/s). Recently, for some unknown reason, the dropping has stopped, but now I am getting speeds of around 9-15 kb/s.
The thing that has me COMPLETELY stumped is when I plug my laptop into the router, the wireless speed on my PC speeds up to, according to speedtest.net, 5.8 Mbps. If I unplug the laptop from the router, the speed on my PC slows down to .25 Mbps, yes - POINT .25 Mbps.I have attached the tester .
have a Dell laptop running Windows 98 on it and I'm trying to get a Linksys WPC54G ver. 4 PCMCIA adapter working on it. I finally got the adapter installed along with its device drivers and other required software such as IE6 and I have it connected to the router in my house. The only problem is, the card shows a connection between the card and the router but a broken connection between the router and the internet. I can't seem to figure out how to fix this considering all of the other wireless devices in our home (iPods, laptops, phone, tablets etc) connect to it which makes me think I have to designate (I'm no good at networking) an IP address or DNS like you would be able to on WinXP, Vista, or 7.I had a friend come over and he was looking through the admin settings on the router and said that it only supports WEP encryption, not WPA. The router is the standard router that Verizon gave us when they came in to install FIOS. The card says it supports WEP and WPA (Radius and PSK whatever that means) and I have it set to WEP and entered the password but I can't seem to get it connected to the internet. Would it work if I bought a new router or is there some kind of thing I need to punch into the Internet Protocol properties like you would on later OS'?
I have a dell inspiron laptop with windows vista installed. I have been traveling all over Germany and automatically detecting internet wherever I go however I cannot detect the dlink wireless access point directly across from me. My work computer is detecting and connecting just fine. I see other wireless networks just not the one I have a password for so I cannot connect. I have reset and seperately restarted the wireless access point but no luck. I am in desperate need of this wireless access. There is no line I can plug into manually either. I have also tried to manually set up the network and that either did not work or I did not go about it correctly.
I am hoping to be able to connect remotely to my friend's Vista laptop (connected to the Internet via a dial-up in a developing country) from my own wireless broadband PC (Win 7).
Is there any recommended software that would enable me to do that or is Remote Desktop Connection able to do it, and what information would I need in order to be able to identify her on the Internet? I would have thought that any IP address that she can see under 'Network & Sharing Centre' or through the Command Prompt would only display the generic IP address of her ISP, wouldn't it? And would both of us need the same type of software to allow me to connect?
I'm running Windows Vista on a Dell Laptop. Normally I just use wireless wherever I am but now I need to hard wire to the computer. It was initially working for a few minutes but then the connection dropped. Now whenever I plug the cable in, it shows it as being connected but comes up as local only so I can't browse or do anything.
I have tried:
-Restarting the machine -Ensuring that windows was picking up the IP addresses automatically -Checking the connection on another computer, works fine. -Disabling the IpV6 -Disabling/Enabling the LAN connection in the Manage network connections setup -Uninstalling, re installing the driver for the ethernet adapter -System Restore
I've also tried in safe mode with networking and have disabled any firewalls that were running.Again, most of the time I never use the hard wired connection, but whenever I have, it hasn't had any problems until now.It always comes up as being connected, but says local only.
I have a Gateway Notebook Model ML6720 that has built-in Wireless. The PC was heavily infected by Virus and I had to re-install Vista Operating system. Now, it will not detect the Wireless Adapter. I went to the maufacturer's website on another computer and downloaded the driver and installed the driver on the laptop. However, it did not work. The blue "wireless" light on the laptop is "lit", however when I go to "Device Manager" and look at the Network Drives, it only shows the wired Ethernet option.
when i install using the CD it stops after i plug in the adapter with a 211 error telling me to replug it in blah blah. i tried to manually install the drivers from the CD. it dose this successfully but it wont pick up any net works. and when i use the network app that came with the CD it tells me it is not installed right. what is going on it says on the box windows vista compatible.
I wan to access a folder shared on windows 2003 server 32bit from a Windows 7 64bit ultimate WS. but after asking password, beside giving correct password, it asks again and agian and do not show folder
I am not able to connect my HP laptop (Windows Vista) to the internet via a wireless router/high speed internet. My internet service provider confirmed that it is a problem with my HP laptop.I have a Linksys router. My other laptop (Sony) connects fine.I have tried two browsers on my HP laptop to access the internet with no luck.My HP laptop does say that I am connected to the wireless network.
My laptop (Win 7 x64) can currently access all the shares on the XP computers in my home network but, although I can see it, I cannot access the laptop from my main xp computer. I haven't tried to access it from the other xp computers downstairs. I have read the guide on this site as well as 3 or 4 other threads on this subject but am unable to resolve the issue. Completing the network setup so that I can look into my laptop from this main xp computer. My laptop has a wireless internet connection but I also have it plugged into my wired home network for sharing. I will provide other details as needed. I suspect that some essential services for file sharing may not be running on the laptop, but I'm not sure.
