View 1 RepliesI have a Gateway Notebook Model ML6720 that has built-in Wireless. The PC was heavily infected by Virus and I had to re-install Vista Operating system. Now, it will not detect the Wireless Adapter. I went to the maufacturer's website on another computer and downloaded the driver and installed the driver on the laptop. However, it did not work. The blue "wireless" light on the laptop is "lit", however when I go to "Device Manager" and look at the Network Drives, it only shows the wired Ethernet option.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I recently updated my desktop to windows 7 and I have lost the CD for my E3000 router. My desktop doesn't have a wireless adapter I always had it set up on a direct connection. So I went to the E3000 support and downloaded the software on my laptop and burned it to a DVD and put it in my desktop so I could update the drivers manually and be able to connect to the internet. But it seems the software only supported wireless connections, am I just sol? Is there some way to get my desktop to update the drivers for the router?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am passing my computer on to a family member and wanted to give them a fresh install, so I used the Windows Vista (32-bit SP1) disc that came with the laptop and reinstalled Vista on the computer. Everything worked fine until I wanted to connect to the internet, then Windows said that there were no networks available. When I selected "Why can't windows find any networks" it said that "This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured". I put in the Dell Driver's and Utilities CD that came with the computer and installed the drivers that seemed related to networks or communications, but the problem persists. I'm assuming it is some sort of driver issue (as the computer was using wireless internet before the reformat (just hours ago) and so the device itself seems to be working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy desktops _usually_ connect, and then the connection will drop/go slow(14400 slow)/give that little yelow triangle on top of the wifi icon.First i had an edimax wifi PCI, now i have a trendnet wifi PCI. They both do the same thing. If i connect my HTC hero and start internet sharing, it works very well, and is stable. My ethernet works fine as well. It is like my computer is immune to PCI cards?I have tried with different wifi APs now, but its still the same.I have a zyxel adsl modem, and a linksys wifi AP hooked up to that. I noticed, that when my desktop is connected, the zyxel will get some kind of overflow from the linksys. It says "client reached max number of sessions per host" It's like my desktop is killing the network. I have tried many things. Drivers, fail safe, registry cleaner(I know), killing all unnescessary program, switching the PCI ports, but none of it seems to work.
I had my laptop running connectify (access point app) and it actually worked fine, but today it won't connect to that either.I'm going to create another partition on my harddrive, and install fresh windows 7 on that, and see if it does the same. But even if it doesn't I _want_ to find out what is causing this instabillity. When i try running the network diagnostics, it says DNS error, or that the router is fail. But my laptop works fine. Also, when doing speed tests, my laptop gets normal speeds, and my desktop is VERY slow DL, but normal UL ?In speed tests my desktop is very slow, but stable, but during the test, my laptop will first go like 2 mb/s - 3mb/s DL and suddently BURST up to like 64 mb/s although i only have 10 mbit line? It's like its buffering or something. Very weird behaviour, but working fine. And no, i do not have torrent programs or whatever running. Some says that i shout try and change wifi channel and bands, and avoid "mixed" mode, but none of it works. Always the same problem.ATM. my computer can't connect to any wifi at all. It keeps having the yellow triangle.
I have an Acer Aspire X3950 desktop, I am running Win7 and have tried two different wifi adapters and they install but they will not connect. It is almost as if my computer itself is blocking the adapter.I spoke to an On Networks rep for over two hours and he tried everything from reinstalling to rebooting and tried three different drivers. He was from a different country and when I told him what the troubleshooter said he would not deviate from the script they give them 2 hours and he was not even close. It saw the device but it wouldn't even blink.Acers website nor customer service will assist me because my warranty is expired. They want me to send the computer back but I have a feeling it is an easy fix I just don't know enough about computers to say oh just uncheckmark this box.I know in the past I used wifi but switched to an ethernet cable.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI changed my operating system from vista to vista ultimate because the OS could not start. Now everything is working fine but I can not use my wireless connection. I recieve a code 10 error message stating that my network adapter can be found but the driver can not be installed.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to set up a wireless connection on an HP desktop that runs Vista. I recently purchased a Belkin N150 Wireless USB Adapter (Version F9L1001). My computer, first, will not run the software CD automatically; I have to find it and double-click on it. Then, after the drivers are supposedly installed and I restart according to the instructions, my computer is unable to find them when I plug in the adapter. Additionally, when I try to start the driver program myself, it refuses to go. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver software four times and I have gotten the following same results every time. Also, I do not have a router installed yet, as we were told initially that all we would need to use to connect the desktop to our wireless Internet was the adapter

View 7 Replies View RelatedI had to re-install Vista on my Dell Studio 1535, and site the re-install i've not been able to connect to wi-fi because Vista apparently doesnt seem to recognise the wireless adapter. In Device Manager it lists the generic "Network Controller" and has a question mark next to it.
I've installed Dell System software, Dell Notebook System software, Quickset, chipset drivers and the R206848 file that includes the 1397 drivers, yet its still not recognised.
My desktop has always been connected via ethernet cable but I'm about to move to the Middle of Nowhere, Alberta and will be mooching off a school's wireless internet that's about 400m away apparently. Not sure if that's door-to-door or not...so it may not actually be 400m away. Anyway, the principal said other people get the internet from the same distance but it's "inconsistent".
View 2 Replies View RelatedProblem I've been having with my laptop. Following the directions of a Dell technician while trying to resolve a separate problem, I deleted the partitions on my hard drive and manually reinstalled both Vista and all the drivers that were on the Dell CD that came with my laptop. When I tried connecting to the internet, Vista said I did not have any wireless networking hardware, but before the reinstallation it worked just fine. I am able to connect to the internet using a wired connection, but my wireless adapter still isn't working. I use Windows Vista 32-bit SP1

I went out and bought a brand new xtreme N desktop PCI adapter and it is even slower, and it disconnects every 5 seconds it seems. I installed it correctly and installed all the drivers, I also have rebooted the computer and it is still slow and wont even connect for a full youtube video. am i doing something wrong or is my adapter the problem (i am doing this on my laptop which is right beside my computer and is still connected to the internet).i cannot wire my computer to my router because it is to far away so that isn't a solution.

And I have to create profile for DWA-525 desktop adapter to connect to my network and it requires the network secret key to connect. But This secret key is viewable from the "Network connection manager" when one can click on modify network and click on "Show text in the password field" by everyone using this computer (I mean by all other office staff). I don't want to let any one know my wireless network secret key. Is there any way to protect the key while having the computers automatically connected to wireless network. More information is below

I have one computer that is unable to connect to the internet. This is a wired desktop running Vista. I have several wireless devices around the house that can connect fine, so I know that it is not the internet. I have tried a system restore, I have reset the router and rebooted the computer. The network diagnostics says there might be a problem with one or more network adapters on this computer....I have tried all of those solutions as well. When I look at the device manager I see a yellow exclamation point beside "isatap.domain.invalid". Does this mean that my network card is out??? Computer is now out of warranty
