Jun 19, 2011i have a wifimodem router so enabling the wireless access on the setting allows for both the desktop an laptop 2 have internet my problem is i wanna network the 2 system wirelessly using the regular options on my xpdesktop so to access files from either pc once connect what are the steps to go about to use this??the last ting i tried was wireless network on my xp ssytem did the flash drive ting it was accepted on the laptop but on the workplace computer only my system was showin up an not the laptop so i tink the workgroup on both system are called dif names

Jan 28, 2011when i install using the CD it stops after i plug in the adapter with a 211 error telling me to replug it in blah blah. i tried to manually install the drivers from the CD. it dose this successfully but it wont pick up any net works. and when i use the network app that came with the CD it tells me it is not installed right. what is going on it says on the box windows vista compatible.

Is there any recommended software that would enable me to do that or is Remote Desktop Connection able to do it, and what information would I need in order to be able to identify her on the Internet? I would have thought that any IP address that she can see under 'Network & Sharing Centre' or through the Command Prompt would only display the generic IP address of her ISP, wouldn't it? And would both of us need the same type of software to allow me to connect?
Windows Vista On A Dell Laptop / Wireless Works But Using LAN Cable Does Not
Nov 22, 2011I'm running Windows Vista on a Dell Laptop. Normally I just use wireless wherever I am but now I need to hard wire to the computer. It was initially working for a few minutes but then the connection dropped. Now whenever I plug the cable in, it shows it as being connected but comes up as local only so I can't browse or do anything.
I have tried:
-Restarting the machine
-Ensuring that windows was picking up the IP addresses automatically
-Checking the connection on another computer, works fine.
-Disabling the IpV6
-Disabling/Enabling the LAN connection in the Manage network connections setup
-Uninstalling, re installing the driver for the ethernet adapter
-System Restore
I've also tried in safe mode with networking and have disabled any firewalls that were running.Again, most of the time I never use the hard wired connection, but whenever I have, it hasn't had any problems until now.It always comes up as being connected, but says local only.

Dec 15, 2011i have an SBS2003 server thats running quickbooks pro 2008and i have 3 workstations connecting to itall was working finethen about a week ago we started to get disconnection errors on all the workstations.i got a small 5 port ethernet switch and connected all workstations and the server into that, but its the same thing.i ran a ping from the server to a workstation with the -t switch and never saw once a drop in connection.the broadband connection is having an issue where it disconnects every few minutes to 1 hour...but i dont think this is related as when i turn off the modem i still have the problem.
