Home Network :: Which Computers Is Running Skype Application That Will Answer Incoming Call

I have a standard ADSL modem which connects to the internet. On the inside I have a few computers within my LAN.when the modem receives an incoming request from the internet for a connection to one of my LAN computers e.g. a Skype incoming call, how does the modem know which port to forward that traffic to on my internal LAN? i.e. how does the modem know which of my computers is running the skype application that will answer the incoming call? I know port forwarding normally handles this sort of thing, but in my case, I am not using any configured port forwarding rules so how does the modem know where to forward skype traffic?

Cisco RV016 Small Business Router (firmware version 4.0.4.02-tm) . We have several old RV series Linksys, and the interface seem identical to this new Cisco version so it isnt difficult to have it configured. However, I am facing issues. I cannot ping from untrust to WAN IP of the router. However pinging from trust to any IP is just fine.
I tried disabling firewall, I also created a firewall rule that allows all ICMP from ANY to ANY. I also tried All traffic from Any to Any. But still the WAN1 and WAN2 IP addresses (Multiple ISP) still does not reply to ICMP.

How to run Cisco call attendant running in the background.I have a user (who’s giving me a headache) that wants the Call attendant software to not pop-up when a call come in.She doesnt want to lose her mouse cursor when call comes in.I have looked at the call attendant user guide and not able to find this feature.This user says that the previous Network admin did something to run it in the background.

I'm trying to build different content security scenarios for a potential deployment of ASA5500-X series firewall with CX module and ran into a trivial problem. A simple access policy has been configured to deny Skype. It's as simple as it sounds. To my surprise I don't see that it is being enforced.I have all my pending changes committed, events are now showing with hits, see attached print screens. Tried to start Skype on my PC with the source shown on the print screen it and don't see any effects of this policy.
As a side note, I know for sure that other type of filtering does work, i.e. I have configured a deny filter for gambling URL category and it seems to work nicely.

I have several computers wirelessly connected through a "LevelOne" access pont. I connected network Peripherals as follows.(router/switch/access point/PC-01 or PC-02)one access point connected with 4 PCs with one usb printer.this printer connected with one pc.4 pcs are in same home group.They were worked well before, but now the computers cannot ping each other.Many time clint pc can't connect to server pc (Printer attached pc).rinter shows offline.advanced sharing settings are normal as microsoft. I have a Netgear Router connected by DSL to the Internet (through Roadrunner). I have a AT & T Microcell Tower and 2 computers connected to the Router: a desktop running Windows XP Home Edition wired to the Router and a laptop running Windows 7 connected to the router wirelessly. Both computers connect to the Internet without any problem. However, they do not communicate with each other. The laptop indicates a home network with all 3 devices, but cannot communicate with the desktop. The desktop does not show any network at all. It only indicates a connection through the Router.

We have CUCM & lync server setup and its working fine if any one calling each other with DNS load balancing. But customer want ot use Cisco ACE 4710 instead of DNS LB.We have configured Cisco LB and deploy but when CUCM user calling to lync user call going to disconnect after 4 sec and also Lync users unable to make call to CUCM.And also LB deploye between share point but when users are trying to open web session that time web page going to show page cannot display.

I'm using Comcast cable. I have a motorola cable modem. I run that into a Netgear 8-channel router with wireless (that's 8 physical network sockets).I have had these devices hard-connected to the router up until today and everything has been running fine:
* My Desktop (desktop running Windows 7 with Gigabyte motherboard and built-in Realtek NIC)
* T-Mobile VoIP device
* My Laptop (old Alienware running XP with generic NIC)
Today I took my old desktop motherboard from a year ago (Gigabyte motherboard, but not the same as My Desktop, built-in Realtek NIC), gutted it out, replaced the hard drive, got it running Windows 7 and set it up for my kids. Got it connected to the Internet early this morning when my machine was off and it ran fine.While it was updating, I fired up My Desktop and the router stopped working, all machines lost Internet, and I was at a loss.After some troubleshooting, it turns out that if I have My Desktop and the Kids Machine connected to the router and running at the same time, all devices on the router lose connection. I can have the Kids Machine on with the T-Mobile device and My Laptop and they all work. I can have My Desktop on with the T-Mobile device and My Laptop and they all work. But as soon as My Desktop and the Kids Machine come on together, everything gets hosed.The router is set to reserve different IP addresses by Mac Address for every machine. And I've verified that My Desktop gets its IP address correctly, and so does the Kids Machine. They are different IPs.I (usually) know just enough about networking to get a home network set up.

There are currently four computers in the house, all running Windows 7. Two of them are wired using homeplugs (different brands) and two of them are wireless.
I've tried using Homegroups but this never seems to work.Now that I have all the computers using the same OS I want to start from scratch and set up a basic home network so I can move files around between computers.

I have set up a wireless network in my home using s d-link N+ 300 DIR-655 and the desktop that is directly connected to the modem and router can connect to the internet and my laptop can access the wireless network and get online but I have another desktop that cannot connect to the wireless network. It can see it but when i try and connect i get the message that it was unable to connect or sometimes that i was able to connect but have limited connectivity.

I am working with a friend who has a home office that is not in a location where DSL or Cable is available. His only option for internet is using a hotspot - in this case, the Elevate Hot Spot from AT&T.
He needs to network two computers so that he can enable QuickBooks Pro in multi user mode - i.e., data file shared on Computer A, accessed by Computer B.
I thought at first that perhaps I could just setup a wireless connection for the office network - however, whenever that connection is on, then obviously neither computer can access the hotspot.
Trying to keep this at *minimal* cost.
My best idea is to old school network - i.e., connect the two computers via crossover ethernet. Am I correct that this will work? Seems to me that then both computers *should* still be able to access the hotspot via their wifi, yet also be networked for file sharing.
My questions are:
1.) Is this a correct assessment?
2.) Are there any road blocks I should be thinking about?
3.) Any reason not to do a direct connection (i.e., any reason I should entertain connecting to a switch instead?)
4.) Is there a certain order I should do things?

They both have laptops and share data via a flash drive and emails between the two laptops.This is the scenario, They both input data into one excel spreadsheet on laptop 1. Laptop 2 works on data, puts it onto a flash drive then goes to laptop 1 and opens the spreadsheet and enters data from flash drive.My thought is wouldn't it be great if they could use some type of VPN? They could both work from home and access each others computer files, spreadsheet and databases.

However, I decided to check the wireless status and my macbook, macbook pro, and my desktop computer are only getting at most 130mbps. Originally i was going to port forward the original windows RDP port and run the windows rdp service but learnt that XP Home Edition doesn't support this feature. I have a media player on my home network, which consists of 3 desktop pcs (1 xp home, 1 win 7 home p, and 1 win 8 pro) and 2 nas boxes. Nothing is wireless, all cabled. All pcs can talk to each other and the nas boxes, all have internet access.Problem is when I try to access pc files with my media player. It can access the nas boxes and the xp pc fine, but when i attempt the win 7 or 8 pcs it asks for ausername/password. The win 8 pc has both, but the media player wont accept them, and the win 7 pc has never had a password. I tried putting a password on the win 7 pc, but the media player rejects the user and pw.

How do you access an application that is in the server? Like what extra steps you gotta make? Are they software related or do I have to do some configuration on the router or switch? Heres a little example:
Assume you have a group of computer connecter to a switch, this switch is connected to a router which has the connection to your ISP. On the router, you also have connected a server farm for your network and all the apps are stored there, say MS Word, Excel and such.Now, you have your network running, every ping comes out successful, so you know you did that part right, so the next part is to get the host use the MS Word or any other app in that server. How do you do that? Is there something that need to be configured on router/switch or is it with a software on your host? If its a software, whats the name of it and how you make it work?

I have a somewhat unique setup with my 2 routers. Below is a layout of how it's setup, and I basically want computers and printers to see each other on the 2 different routers. The reason for the 2nd router is so I can have certain devices connecting to a US VPN Service for my Apple TV, and XBOX in order to watch Netflix and Hulu, since I'm stationed in the UK for the DoD.
Router A = Main router with VDSL connection (BT Home HUB 3.0)
Router B = WAN: PPTP router for VPN Service flashed with DD-WRT (WRT160N)
Router A connects to Router B by a CAT 5 from Router A LAN port to Router B WAN/Internet port (This is the only wired connection)
Router A = 192.168.1.249
Router B = 192.168.2.1
Router A has most of my desktops/media server/printer running on it wirelessly, and router B has my Apple TV, XBOX, and Desktop.
Since I have movies and music on my Desktop on Router A, I would like that data shared to my Apple TV on Router B. The only way I can get this to work right now is by constantly switching networks.Same goes with printing. Printer is connected wirelessly to Router A, and if I want to print with my laptop connected to Router B, it won't.
So is there a way I can make my Router B (DD-WRT) see computers on Router A? Router B has to have a PPTP WAN connection. Is this as simple as connecting another CAT 5 between the LAN ports of each router or is there some advanced routing I can do somewhere?

I'm implementing and found out some issues are unresolvable on ACE4710. This network have been running on a server without LB. Now the second server comes up. We choosed to implement with Routed Mode.This network Peak @ 300Mbps. Now on we're doing the first context which is function as content web-farm. In near future, 2nd context which takes care of indexing web-farm when they buy more server.
From following diagrams.I browsed from internet into this service. "show service-policy" shown as '0' (counter was not running). I guessed that there is something wrong in FW configuration. So I isolated out FW. Then I plugged-in my PC into network 30 (192.168.30.X) in front of this LB, then browsed into LB's VIP (192.168.30.1). LB "show service-policy" came up BUT there is nothing return to my PC (client). "show conn" on LB as "SYNSEEN". What's SYNSEEN?! Some meaningful.
Then I tried to figure out with a PC running 'apache' and took the place of real server. "It works!" returned from LB/Server. "show conn" became 'Establish' Programmer guy said if I browse into web-farm (i.e. content web-farm) directly pkt will be redirected to indexing server. But they said it will be L7 redirection. Not LB/Network level.

We've got pairs of ACE30s in our data centers set up with active/standby FT. Some time yesterday the active ACE in one data center started refusing management traffic - it accepts SSH connections but fails authentication (local password, no RADIUS/TACACS is configured); and ANM reports it as down (no XML connectivity),We haven't opened a TAC case yet - someone's on his way over to see whether we can get in through the serial port first - but I'm wondering whether there are any other diagnostics we can gather (will resetting the module form the Sup force a coredump?) before we do.
