View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Compaq mini CQ10-100 Netbook, and I am trying to Make a Wireless internet connection through a D-link router. My ISP is Cox Cable. The Netbook is connected to my wireless network, but will not connect to the internet. It keeps asking me to transfer information, via thumb drive, from a wireless access point, but my router is my wireless connector and it doesn't have a USB port to plug in a thumb drive. How do I get this netbook hooked up to the internet?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I purchased a Linksys E4200 a couple weeks ago from Best Buy (got the $149 price) and finally got around to setting it up last Thursday. Before I get to my problem, I am happy to say that I have not experienced the "blinking light" syndrome that seems to plauge a number of other owners. In fact, the E4200 is everything I hoped it would be ... except for one problem. I cannot get my sister's Acer Aspire One netbook to connect to it.
It's really strange actually; the netbook picks up the 2.4GHz SSID fine (it's set to mixed mode) and upon selecting it and I input the WPA2-Personal password no problem. Then, it takes forever to finally aquire a network address, like at least 3 full minutes (usually this process takes a few seconds). After that, it tells me it is connected to the network with excellent signal strength. Except, despite it saying it's connected, the Internet does not work at all. If I got into the details of the wireless adapter, it tells me that the router/network failed to give the adapter a network address.

Router is configured for manual setup, Wireless-G only, IP addresses start from 2, (range from 2 to 201).
I have a Gigabyte M912 netbook that used to connect to Internet over wireless through my old D-Link and had no problems with that.
With WL160NL it connects to the wireless all right, but it does not go anywhere from there. It gets an IP address, connects successfully, but no internet sites can be accessed. Pinging gateway (192.168.1.1) gives 4 request timeouts. Other devices (Acer A500 tablet, sever smartphones, even a blasted Wowwee Rovio) have no similar problems< connecting and seeing each other and connecting to the Internet.
1. I have no idea why that happens.
2. Restarting the netbook, switching the wifi module on and off, removing remembered network settings and inputting them anew etc. does nothing.
3. Manually configuring the netbook to use a predefined static IP address instead of DHCP did not work.
The netbook uses an Atheros AR5007EG module.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my fiance picked up a netbook and we can't get it to connect to my wireless network. It is an XP computer with Service Pack 3. It sees the wireless network, which other devices can connect to with no problem but when I try to connect it I get a limited or no connectivity error. I get the same thing when I try to plug the computer directly into the router. Occasionally it will just connect to the wireless, but it still won't connect to the router, let alone the the internet. Currently it is not connected to anything.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a netgear n300 WNR2000 v.2 router (which has the latest fireware as of today) and have connected to it both wirelessly and wired with my netbook. My netbook runs windows xp with sp3 and has all the lastest updates. My 2 pc's on the network are both wired and running windows 7 (both up to date with updates). I had no connectivity issues with any computers on any network ever until I got the pc's with windows 7. The 2 pc's see each other fine and they have zero issues as far as networking goes. Neither pc will interact with the xp netbook, and the netbook will not interact with either pc. I installed the LLTD on the netbook, which did allow the computers to "see" each other on the network maps. However, the computers still do not interact and say they are not on the network, even when trying to use the icon provided from the map to connect. In command prompts, all pc's and the netbook are able to ping each other with ip addresses. Only the windows 7 pcs are able to ping using net names though. When locating via "net view 192.168...", all the computers see each other and even display the appropriate names for the computers. However, using "net view pcname...", again nothing.I have selected netbios over tcp/ip, made sure the workgroup names match on all computers. The "net names" command showed no names saved in the cache.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a 7" netbook with Windows CE Version 6.00 (build 3122). I can't figure out how to connect to the internet. The instruction manual says to click on the wireless icon, which brings up a window that, in the picture in the manual has three tabs, the third being "wireless information", but on my netbook that window only has two tabs. The "wireless information" tab isn't there and that's what I'm supposed to go to to connect to the internet. What do I do?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an annoying problem with my netbook. It's a Toshiba NB525. My laptop can access the internet and connect wirelessly at home.
I'm currently staying at a hotel. I can detect and connect to the network but no internet.
The way the internet at this hotel works is that it redirects you to a site to log in before gaining access.
It seems to work intermittently but very rarely. Requiring me to reset the connection multiple times. Problem is, my other devices work perfectly fine to connect.
I tried my entire afternoon trying to figure this out but to no avail. Fortunately, I found this place out of my desperation for a solution. My netbook works very well in my home network but when I brought it to my workplace, I was unable to connect to the internet eventhough I could connect to the wireless network. Other computers and laptops were able to connect and use the internet well using the same router. I tried manually configuring my IP and default gateway based on what I read but nothing worked.

I have: ASUS Netbook with Windows 7 Starter.
As of last night, I cannot connect to any of the wireless networks I use every day (my personal home network or my school's WPA2).
The signal strength is very good, but it says "Limited Access" next to the network name. Apparently "Limited" means "No" because I am not connected. Here's what happened:Lavasoft Ad-Aware was blocking a site that I needed to access. I haven't used Ad-Aware in months, and it did not even appear to be running. So uninstalled it with Add/Remove programs in the control panel. BUT, mid-way through the uninstallation, I got a blue screen and my computer restarted. When my computer booted back up, I could no longer connect to my home's wireless. I'm at school now and I cannot connect here either. Ad-aware is gone from the add/remove programs list, but there is still an Ad-Aware folder in Program Files. The folder still has a bunch of stuff in it, including adaware.exe. I dont see an uninstaller (but i havent really investigated that yet). so now i can't connect to any network. Here's What I've TriedRan troubleshooter. Useless. Turned off my netbook's wireless. turned it back on. Device manager says my Network Adapters are working fine. No yellow or red icons next to them. also tried resetting stuff with the command prompt. something about winsock and netsh. I don't know what I was doing though. just following instructions from other people on yahoo answers when i googled the problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy hp mini will not connect to the internet, even with a cable directly from the modem. We downloaded a bunch of games from the internet, and then in removing the junk, may have deleted vital components. My device manager has "other devices" and under that has "ethernet controller" and "network controller," neither of which has a driver. Windows was unable to find a driver when I tried to reinstall the driver (although I'm not sure whether there should be one - the icon next to everything in this category is a yellow question mark). I thought the problem was just a wireless issue until this morning, when I hooked it up with a cable to try to find a wireless driver. It does not connect with the cable either, and now I am really lost.
