However, I want to make sure the NAS is both encrypted and password protected on the network to make sure someone doesn't just walk off with our company data (by taking the whole NAS with un-encryped info) or logging on through our network.
What would be your recommendation for a NAS setup that would offer total data encryption, great security from non-authorized people on the network, and 100% Windows 7 compatibility?

This connects to 3550A Switch which has connection to 1811W Router.
I setup VPN between 1811W and 3550A.

I am setting up an offsite storage server for work at my home which will sync a few times a day to grab data and i wanted to ask about options for encryption or if i should worry about it.i am going to be initially dumping about 1-1.5T worth of data, with then maybe a couple of gigs a day added of new stuff.i am going to use server 2008 r2 as i am also doing a read only DC/AD for this system to give me and offsite controller just incase also.
I was thinking encryption for one more level of safety just incase something happened to the server, like theft or something but not sure what could reliably handle that much data ? System is only a dual core e7500 with 8G of ram, i have 2x500G SATA in raid 1 for the OS and 4 x 1T drives in raid 6 with 2 more coming.
I have a problem in my IPSec tunnel. One of the routers (Cisco 861) doesn't encrypt the packets but does decrypt the incoming ones from the remote peer (RV042). In the access-list for the wan interface I deny the traffic between the subnets and in the vpn access-list I permit the traffic.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup a GDOI based IPsec connection between a cisco AS901 (advanced Metro lic - asr901-universalk9-mz.152-2.SNI ) and a 7606-S.What I see is that the ASR901 is capable of decrypting the IPsec packet but I cannot encrypt the ICMP packet back, so the question is if the AS901 can support IPsec in software. What I could not find in the docs on CCO. [code]

This has to be the most weirdest issue I have seen since the past year on my ASA. I have an ASA 5540 running the 8.4(2) code without any issues until I stumbled upon this problem last week and I have spent sleepless nights with no resolution! So, take a deep breath and here is a brief description of my setup and the problem:
A Simple IPSEC tunnel between my ASA 5540 8.4(2) and a Juniper SSG 140 screen OS 6.3.0r9.0(route based VPN)
The tunnel comes up without any issues but the ASA refuses to encrypt the traffic but decrypts it with GLORY! below are some debug outputs, show outputs and a packet tracer output which also has an explanation of my WEIRD NAT issue:
My setup - ( I wont get into the tunnel encryption details as my tunnel negotiations are **** perfect and comes up right off the bat when the ASA is configured as answer only)
CISCO ASA - IPSec networking details
LOCAL NETWORK - 10.2.4.0/28
REMOTE NETWORK - 192.168.171.8/32
JUNIPER SSG 140 - IPSec networking details
PROXY ID: LOCAL NETWORK - 192.168.171.8/32

As you can see, there is no echo reply packet at all as the packet is not being encapsulated while it is being sent back. I have been going mad with this. Also, this is a live production multi tenant firewall with no issues at all apart from this ****** ip sec tunnel to a juniper!!
Also, the 192.168.10.0/24 is another IP Sec tunnel remote network to this 10.2.4.0/28 network and this IP SEC tunnel has a similar Juniper SSG 140 screen os 6.3.0r9.0 at the remote end and this woks like a charm without any issues, but the 171 is not being encrypted by the ASA at all.
I just bought a "DLink Xtreme N Gigabit Router DIR-655" I configured it correctly. It works well for the wireless connection but my Lan connection (wired connection) does not work. The Lan computer connects to the router but cannot access the internet. All of my machines work OK with a Netgear G router, including the Lan computer.

There are 3 connections on the server running Windows Server 2003. 1st is External, 2nd is Internal and 3rd is VPN (please see attahement). There is nothing to do with External and Internal connections, and everytime the Internet connection get slow, I have to disconnection VPN (connection) and connect it again.

All of them: IE, firefox, chrome, even the steam browser, all of them just lose connection.The weird thing is, my net connection is perfectly fine: I can still play online games, still use online chat services, still open and use programs like utorrent. We have AT&T (DSL, not cable) and it used to connect just fine but then I moved out, left everything plugged in exactly as it was and when I came back it wouldn't connect.It connects to the LAN but not to the internet. When I go in cmd to type ipconfig the DNS suffix is blank on that computer but says gateway.2wire.net on my wireless laptop. I eventually disabled UPnP on it because that's what alot of people were saying fixed the problem but it didn't fix anything. All it did was make the Internet Gateway Connection box disappear.Originally it was plugged in like so: Cable from wall > Cable Box > PC Now it is hooked up like this: Data cable from wall > DSL > Router > PC It stopped working BEFORE it was switched to DSL so that isn't the problem The DSL we have is "AT&T 2701HG-B 2Wire Wireless Gateway DSL Router Modem" and the Router it is plugged into that goes to my PC is a Linksys Wireless Router Model WRT54GS The PC is Windows XP Home, SP2?

Problem: When I turn-on this particular HP's PC and connect to the internet (wireless) - the whole house internet connection becomes intermittent (e.g. OFF / ON). The Internet connection is fine (no problem), if this PC is not connected to the Internet (not connected to ie or google).
Trouble Shoot (without success)
- I have reformatted the PC and scan the PC with Malware in safe mode (no infection).

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently moved into a new place and my internet's been very spotty at best. The internet seems very fast at times but slows down, and even completely stop working, at other times. The weird thing is that my computer never says I'm disconnected from the internet. Instead, I either get disconnected from my games or the webpages I try to load show that it "cannot be displayed." The place I moved into provides wall jacks for a T-1 internet connection. I've tried directly connecting the ethernet cable to my desktop/laptop as well as connecting it to a router and trying out the wireless, all to no avail. The problem only seems to be resonating from where I'm currently living, as when I go onto campus, the wireless is fine.Also tried turning off firewalls, using a different browser, resetting the router, and a new ethernet cable.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop that had issues, so I cleaned the hard disk and reinstalled the software like when it was new. I have updated all the windows and network card updates.When I first start the computer, I can connect to the internet for about 2-5 minutes then lose the connection. Often, internet explorer shows a screen that says the site is busy and try again later, but we can connect fine on other computers. Our internet connection comes from a DSL modem to a Cisco Valet Plus wireless router, however this computer is connected by a hard wire to a port on the router. I have changed ports, but have the same issue. The computers connected wirelessly stay connected.
I can restart the computer and the internet will work for 2-5 minutes again, but then do the same. If I go to ipconfig and release and renew, it still will not connect to the internet.
The other day I got a new Combo Modem/Wireless Router. I hooked it up and installed it as per Comcast's instructions. I have a Desktop PC running XP and a Laptop PC running Windows 7.I cannot get an internet connection up on either PC, although I am showing a Good Connection Signal on both my PC's.Called Comcast Tech and he pinged and said connection was good on THEIR end, and that Problem was on my end.I'm running Internet Explorer as my Browser on each PC.

There is a Laptop, an xbox and another Desktop along with an ipod and ipad that are all functioning properly whilst being connected to the same network. I also have an xbox in my room next my PC which is having the same issue, it picks up xbox live but nothing works. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a wireless connection in my house going through a Linksys WRT54GC router and also a wired connection with Cisco gateway (only 1 laptop uses it). About 1 month ago some strange things began to happen with the wireless connection, my PC seems not to be able to connect unless I reinstall the protocols and it's really annoying to do that every time I run my PC. Also, the wired connection stopped working (probably because of cable being broken) but it requires a router restart 90% of the time when I want to connect the laptop (that used to connect through cable) to the wireless network. The 2nd laptop has an issue mentioned in the title, the LAN works but it can't connect to the Internet through the router. Ipconfig /all shows that DHCP isn't working, there's no default gateway and DNS seems to be wrong. Could that all be related to router not being updated for a long time? I tried reinstalling drivers, unistalling and installing back network card and doing most of the things mentioned in similar threads but nothing seems to work.
